Natural consequence of Capitalism, at the start of a new market there's lots of competition & extremely high profit margins and then over time as different companies start to gain advantages they start being able to control the market & it dries up.
The always online feature is what broke the game, if everything is processed locally, most of the bugs and glitches would be gone. But it's a TripleAAAAAAA live service, they tried to shove MTX down our throats and the end result? a major flop that cost them the delay of 3 major games...well deserved.
Those 3 games most likely had the same terrible mechanics given Ubisoft said in 2017-18 that all their games in the future would be a live service. Thank god this game failed.

As a software developer (I'm not a game developer) this game saddens me. It sort of feels like they built Wildlands, and handed over the engine to a completely different group of developers and said: "build something, you have a month" when in actual fact it was more than likely the exact same group of devs who over ambitioned a project they could get done in a year or two "well we've got wildlands and the engine, how hard is it to do a new game in a couple of years? Pfff easy" then towards the deadline had to cut massive corners to meet it.
Smash I came back to this just to say yes wild lands is kinda the shit bro but the story and some mechanics kinda just don’t make it fun for me if breakpoints map was in wildlands it’s be one of my favorites
I believe just being an internet nerd and FPS addict who never actually touched a firearm, like me, could more accurately tell the programmers at Ubisoft "this is not how you operator" And I'm a computer science engineer, I know how hard it can be to code stuff But they didn't even start from scratch It's just the enfasis of the black suits on demanding what they feel like what people want, like the prone masking with the ground and the stamina and health particularities, but also the greed with the micro transactions It ruins not only the current game but also the follow ups
Ubisoft: -boasts about realism Also Ubisoft: -throw in stuff that nowhere near the border of realism Again, Ubisoft: -trying out the EA strategy aka make an incomplete game and make people buy it at full price
Haku Gen Wow... I guess they also need to have our characters lay up in Erewhon’s hospital for a few weeks every time we got shot too, right? And you can’t play the game until he’s completely healed. Ya know, for realism and all.
this would be really cool but I feel that the enemy sniper must at least miss his first shot at you for you to know that you´ve got a enemy sniper on your tail who could be lotst of miles/kilometers away.

@@Brody_Austin Indeed. Infinity Ward listened to their hardcore community and they restored the dignity of COD franchise. Ubisoft is ignoring Ghost Recon legacy and his player base. Incredible.
@@Sergeant_Camacho the thing is, wildlands was actually pretty decent. I personally enjoyed it more than future soldier. All Ubi had to do was build off that but instead they listened to division fans rather than actual GR fans. I remember people saying that they wanted ghost recon to be more like the division, so they got their wish lol. As a ghost recon fan, I've been enjoying modern warfare a lot and I'm glad that I kept my preorder for it. It's everything that I wanted the sequel to wildlands to be. A realistic and gritty setting that puts you into the shoes of a special forces operator, not a division reskin with drones
@@taint2684 I also feel like GS shouldn't be a thing in breakpoint, but this game is so far from the division the only similarities are colored GearScore.. the division 2 is good Lol
It doesn’t make any sense to me how this happens. The formula should be “take the old GR everyone fell in love with” + “Modern next gen tech” * “update realism and features” = best GR game of 2019 - 2020. How hard is that? It’s a shame ppl all over and on Reddit are literally telling UBIDUMB what they want and yet we don’t get it. How about you ask before it gets to this point. No one wanted “no squad always online” game. Guess what they could’ve asked about that earlier on got feedback and cut it out. Business is simple supply and demand, the customer is the bottom line. Smh
do you want the truth? They knew about what the community wanted since Wildlands. They made a survey about a "potential sequel" to Wildlands during its 2nd year (not entirely sure about the date). They even had people from the Wildlands community playtest the game BEFORE THE CLOSED BETA. And these people had to fill a survey again. The same people got invited to play the closed beta too and played the same shit and had to fill the same survey. Everytime people told Ubisoft "that ain't it chief" and they still pushed through. The results: Ghost Recon Wildlands dumbed down. Now after the release they ran the same survey again on twitter etc. And apparently only after the fifth survey (GR Wildlands, playtest, closed beta, open beta, post release) they suddenly went like "we realised the isnt the game you wanted". They also only realised it because the games sales tanked to the point the CEO of Ubisoft had to announce "a sharp downwards revision in the revenues expected from Ghost Recon Breakpoint", a game with microtransactions. So yeah believe me the devs knew about what the community wanted and how the community felt about the game prior to its release.
It's not because they're incapable of making good games, it's because they don't want to. They're only incentivized to make profit so they put microtransactions and make it good enough that it staves off competitors, they have no incentive to make it better than it needs to be. Lowest cost, maximum profit is the motto of every single goddamn company, it's not different for CDPR or Bethesda or Ubi or R*, all of them live & die by the rules of the market.
YA EXACTLY THAT PART OF THE REVIEW IS THE MAIN REAOSON THE GAME IS SOOOO BAD DUDE YOU SHOOT 10m NEXT TO SOMEONE AND THE ENTIRE FUCKING BASE KNOWS YOUR EXACT POSITION EVEN IF THEY DIDNT SPOT YOU YET AND START GOING IN YOUR DIRECTION UNTIL THEY FIND YOU LIKE HONESTLY WHAT THE GFUCK IS WRONG
It's so disappointing how lacklustre it is. I played ghost recon wildlands alot and I was disappointed because I don't really play breakpoint as much as I would want to. I love some of the mechanics added but most are pointless.
Dude I've played the ghost recon series sense I was a kid so almost 20 years of ghost recon. This ghost recon is the biggest piece of trash ever produced
This might sound strange, but Breakpoint lost me when I ran into two enemies just standing in a field next to a car and some crates with a phone on top of it. It's one thing to have checkpoints and roadblocks, that makes sense and it gives the player a reason to be stealthy, and it would be cool to have enemies constantly sweeping to find you (after all, you're allegedly supposed to be on the run), but to just have two guys posted in a field, for no apparent reason is just bad immersion-building.
I was talking to people normally then Maurice Fox came into the story and every single time I talked to him he was acting like a Sid: The Science Kid character.
Apparently, according to Bernthal, the people who did the mocap for Ubisoft in Breakpoint, were actual special forces soldiers. He must of meant North Korean special forces lmao
Lmao me and my friend was raiding a random base and the game was like "Oh hey, Walker's here. Go and uh, go and kill him" I had played MAYBE 3 hours of the game
I'm playing through it right now and within a couple hours I interrogated a Sentinel soldier and got the location of Walker. Like, fucking 'scuse me? Lol
The reload animations thing is all over every single game. I think that Tarkov is one of the few games that incorporates correct reloads from someone that has had combat experience.
Mostly every ubisoft game has incorrect reloads by military standards like for example, siege with the M4 platform, it wasn't until Burnt Horizon that we got an operator who uses the bolt release instead of the charging handle.
@@memecliparchives2254 yeah like Black Beard and Thermite but for my example, Mozzie is the only one who does it for the AR platform rifles in-game. What I can't understand though is if they do the reload properly for the SCAR in siege, why does nomad rack it like an AK in Breakpoint? Could it be a difference between Montreal and Paris?
@@timkutsar1588 arma 3 and insurgency/insurgency sandstorm have great animations, I dont got combat experience but I've heard those games put plenty of research on their animations. I'd say tarkov is the best tho, and definitely the best scopes too
In 2019 now all I'm hearing about games is that they're extremely broken, full of bugs, and loaded with a shit ton of microtransactions. This needs to stop. Gaming needs for its developers to step it back up. Put back the love in video games.
Highly recommended these games for you: Spider-Man God of War Bloodborne Titanfall 2 Red Dead Redemption 2 Return of the Obra Dunn Oxenfree Night in the Woods Pillars of Eternity 1/2 Disco Elysium Blasphemous Dragon Quest XI Persona 5
Supreme thats how everything is in 2019, everyone complains about everything. Most of the hate videos/reviews is for subscribers. Most games that the companies listens to the fans the games become worst. Just take a seat, play a title your interested in and dont listen to what these TH-cam videos say. Youll have a better gaming experience! Ubisoft is getting bombed rn but all their games is fun too me. Breakpoint is fantastic, so if your interested into ghost recon id pick this one up on sale. Games your unsure just wait for sales then try them, or dont listen to the critics period!
Do not buy this game full price, however i picked it up for $20, the low price and the fun you can have with friends just barely cancels out all of its glaring flaws

Dizzle I liked Andromeda’s main story towards the end, but it just depends on you. I was glad I finished it. Just gotta get through the boring middle bits.
@@OliverStClair-wc8tq Agreed. Andromeda was actually a pretty decent stepping off point for future games. Bugs and some of the dialogue aside, I honestly don't think it was as bad as people made it out to be.
Sauce Daddy I think some people were just feeling... nostalgic. Missing Shepherd, the old crew. I get it, I was too, but I wasn’t gonna hold it against the new game. Definite potential.
@@OliverStClair-wc8tq 100% I was too. Though I think people expected to instantly be as attached to the new crew as they were by the end of ME3. Don't get me wrong, most of the old crew WAS written better, but there were a few gems with the new batch. I also think the shift in tone was a major downside for the game. It went from "holy shit the entire galaxy as we know it will cease to exist" to pretty much the geth 2.0. Which is my other point, if you compare it to ME1 it pretty much has the exact same story beats. That's why I see it having potential.
Sauce Daddy It was pretty slow-paced for the first half of the game, but I still loved slowly piecing everything together with the Jardaan and the Remnant, and with the Milkyway. We know what happened, but they left when the Reapers were still the ramblings of a madman/woman. Im actually kinda hyped to see what happens when they make the realization that they are the last of the Milkyway species. I agree though, the crew could’ve been better, there were a lot of things that could’ve been better. I did kinda see the remnant as Geth 2.0 just starting out, but as I learned more, I didn’t see them that way. Less evil robot, more ancient protectors, I guess.
I just want to point out that when I got this game I joined a friend and played with him doing random bases for like 2 hours no missions, after he left I went and killed Cole Walker... The game let me do the final boss before I had done ANY OTHER MISSIONS BESIDES GETTING TO EREWON AND TALKING O PEOPLE This was 2 months ago...
Making a bullet drop system is basic physics. They teach the formulas to do so in high school. If a professional studio can't do this yet highschool students and indie devs can... then we have truly failed in the gaming industry
I already stopped playing the game because how repetitive it was also when I was going threw the fly swatter mission I accidentally killed him not even noticing and looked around for him for like a good 15 mins just to realize I killed him in one of the crowds of wolfs
When you said you might enjoy this if you didn't play wildlands, you may enjoy this I was like what?!? They would be better buying wildlands. Cheaper and better game.
I bought Breakpoint on sale, a couple months back and played at least 155 hours so far and have completed most of the game save for collections, the raids and Motherland. I can confirm this game is such a disappointment, especially compared to Wildlands. The headgear being removed in cutscenes when Wildlands did it just fine. Said cutscenes being discount mass effect dialogue sequences, absolutely unnecessary and repetitive compared to Wildlands’ few Safehouse cutscenes with the rest of the dialogue taking place real time. The lifelessness of Aurora compared to the smaller but enjoyable NPC interactions and scripted events in Bolivia like sicarios playing with kids or arguing with UNIDAD. Said lifelessness carrying to your squadmates. Holt’s jokes were funny. But if I have to hear Fixit whine that his drone is out of juice one more time… For real, the R6 teammates have more personality than your Ghost, teammates. Thatcher’s banter with Nomad and calling him a “rookie” is small but sweet. The trend of making the Ghosts seem like just another SpecOps unit compared to their past iterations where carrying the latest and greatest gear was their job description. (Future Soldier E3 gear anyone?) Using Bodark TWICE only a mere YEAR after the events of Future Soldier while also forgetting the Ghosts have Optical camo by 2024 but apparently it’s experimental as Bowman herself said. Walker coming off as some bargain bin former CIA lackey. (Sorry Punisher, love ya but it just ain’t workin.) Sentinel feeling like a cartoonishly evil force compared to Santa Blanca, arguably one of the most evil factions in Ghost Recon. And I’d rather be stuck in a foxhole with PAC Katari than Haruhi Ito, the guy who betrays you in the end is more like able than “Brute Squad” girl. Not to mention that all you get from the Outcasts is a designator from RESISTANCE while Kataris 26 offers their 5 support options. Not to mention the Faction Missions have less incentive than the Rebel Ops where the more you do the stronger the support gets let alone allowing you to upgrade your skills, incentivizing you to do them. The utter fantastical sci-fi tech of the drones while the Ghosts are using ALICE suspenders and baseball caps. Again, becoming just another SpecOps unit. And don’t get me started on the “Titans.” The “side missions” are stupid too. They involve walking across the damn island for various objectives for characters ranging from friendly folk to weirdos you’re better off staying away from. One stop away from becoming Bethesda characters. Fucking hell, I can only take solace that Tom Clancy isn’t here to see this.
Exactly. The bar has been lowered because most AAA companies put out crap like this and people eat it up. They've forgotten what a good game looks like. Quality isn't a priority for them anymore. It's more about tricking people into preordering a shit game then hoping they'll go for all the macrotransactions.
ptavangar I would put my money towards indies. They don’t have the same budget or capabilities as AAA publishers but they definitely have more of a drive of creating a great game rather than appeasing to their shareholders.
Spawning enemies is one of my biggest gripes in some of the Ghost Recon games. I'd rather have every single enemy already on the map when you first start a game. If enemy do need to appear after you've cleared an area, at least have it in a realistic way, like a helicopter drop-off or drive in via an armored vehicle or whatever.
And you actually had AI team mates that would talk to each other on long vehicle rides.. instead of boring silence flying across the map. I would even take listening to the crappy radio station from wild lands
I am having fun with Breakpoint playing co-op with my friends … but you are SPOT on with everything you've shown here. Thanks for an accurate, and in-depth look at the game.
Ok so about the whole M4 reloading thing. I just when through Canadian army Bmt and the newest drills when clearing stoppages ALL include pulling the charging handle instead of hitting the bolt catch. The reason being that i combat your fine motor skills are going to be hampered by the adrenaline and stress so hitting a button relatively small as the bolt catch might be harder than YANKING the charging handle. So technically there's nothing wrong with that drill in the game but i doubt thats the reason Ubisoft use the charging handle instead of the bolt catch
Bro you just slap the side of the gun, when the bolt is back the bolt catch release sticks way out, pulling the charging handle would never be faster, especially since you can slap the release from high or low ready or even have the gun up.
in fact shotgun enemies do after their 1st shot, giving you a chance to cut them if they didn't murdered you at first. Btw they are the only ones to do...
He was dead in the first hour of gameplay. Dumbest storyline I’ve seen. Also tired of making 5 stops across the map to find someone at a base that is named after them.
One thing I noticed in BP is that if im stalking a patrol in the wild, if I go for a CQC takedown, they'll be alerted. If I go for a grab which is literally wrangling someone and sometimes even punching them, they're suddenly Helen Keller
Breakpoint is fine now. It seems much better. I had a huge issue with the AI path finding in Wildlands, where if you missed they magically knew where you were. In Breakpoint they investigate and or panic if you are still stealthed. IMHO Breakpoint almost a year after launch is in a very good playable state. Micro transactions are minimal and most of the "Visible" cosmetic items are achievable through drops or achievements.
31:24 Thats pretty much exactly why half the non code problems existed in Wildlands and Breakpoint. Red Storm never had any problems with realism in the other Ghost Recon titles because they are located in Cary, North Carolina, which is only a 2-3 hour drive from Ft. Bragg which is home to the 82nd Airborne Division and 10th Special Forces Group. My question is why didn't Ubisoft Paris just contact the French Army's PR liaison and ask them to loan out a few of their high-speeds. TTPs differ very little among NATO SOF units, so no one who isn't actually SF would likely notice the difference.
Got breakpoint last weekend. Had great time with it so far, with no complaints. Was wondering why people hated on it, but I think a lot of the problems you brought up got fixed, as far as I can tell.
I love Wildlands! I still think there are more things that be done with Wildlands like more guns, no items should be locked behind a paywall (because these corporate all love microtransactions), more camos and more missions. But overall being a Ghost and undercover in Bolivia, I'll make do with my civilian outfit. But I cannot bring myself to love Breakpoint, it's too arcady and they did more wrong that right.
2021 - new to this series, so I had the choice of either buying Wildlands or Breakpoint. Wildlands just looked like a more fun experience, despite being the older game. I'm watching this video after purchasing Wildlands and playing for many hours and it reaffirms that I chose wisely. Wildlands is enormous fun, huge and a bargain in the sale. I won't be buying Breakpoint.
Remember when Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon were (for their time) state of the art tactical simulations, with planning, attempts at realism, loads of weapons/equipment you could experiment with, and well designed scenarios/missions to find the optimal tactical solutions to? Now they're always-online action games where the only thing approaching simulation is the paid gambling mechanic where you get to open packages.
@@velaikka Siege is kind of fun but it's just not my thing. I really want a campaign with missions, a planning phase, the ability to script out the solutions to the missions and simulate them.
This review 100% showcases why this franchise needs to go back to Redstorm studios. Ubi Paris had there shot...and missed big time. Between wildlands and Breakpoint I'm ready for Redstorm to take back over the GR titles.
have you ever tried playing without hud, as one would with a "realistic" game? its literally unplayable as key prompts and some coplete gameplay elements get hidden with it

So basically: just play Wildlands

It's just the enfasis of the black suits on demanding what they feel like what people want, like the prone masking with the ground and the stamina and health particularities, but also the greed with the micro transactions
It ruins not only the current game but also the follow ups

do you want the truth?
So yeah believe me the devs knew about what the community wanted and how the community felt about the game prior to its release.
andre pinto fucking sad smh just bad business all around.
It's not because they're incapable of making good games, it's because they don't want to. They're only incentivized to make profit so they put microtransactions and make it good enough that it staves off competitors, they have no incentive to make it better than it needs to be.
Less evil robot, more ancient protectors, I guess.

why what lies did they tell
But if I have to hear Fixit whine that his drone is out of juice one more time…
For real, the R6 teammates have more personality than your Ghost, teammates.
And don’t get me started on the “Titans.”
The “side missions” are stupid too. They involve walking across the damn island for various objectives for characters ranging from friendly folk to weirdos you’re better off staying away from. One stop away from becoming Bethesda characters.

Micro transactions are minimal and most of the "Visible" cosmetic items are achievable through drops or achievements.
the mission design is such a mess; incredibly confusing and wastes players' time for no reason

Thats pretty much exactly why half the non code problems existed in Wildlands and Breakpoint.
TTPs differ very little among NATO SOF units, so no one who isn't actually SF would likely notice the difference.
man, my $60 would have been far better spent by literally taking it out of my pocket, and flushing it down the toilet.
I feel the same. My brother got it for 20 and got a bunch of free vehicles guns etc...
Same, but with $120
it's pathetic that nearly a year later, they haven't learned a damn thing, and fixed really any of the issues addressed post launch..
Amen 💯
2021 - new to this series, so I had the choice of either buying Wildlands or Breakpoint. Wildlands just looked like a more fun experience, despite being the older game. I'm watching this video after purchasing Wildlands and playing for many hours and it reaffirms that I chose wisely. Wildlands is enormous fun, huge and a bargain in the sale. I won't be buying Breakpoint.
I went on breakpoint while watching this video and I spawned with all of my guns invisible and I couldn't shoot. Good job UBI.
Find it weird how Some Cartel gunman has Better aim than a sentinel Guard.
I just hate that my elite operator can't walk down a gently sloping hill without tripping over his own two feet.
Thank you for putting everything I thought and have said to my friends in a video so that I know I’m not the only one feeling all of this.
" some of them look crazy, some sound crazy" Me: "Some of them smell crazy"
This is the result of Ubisoft dismantling Red Storm Entertainment
Yeah I knew drones where a terrible idea way before it released and thank you I will not waste my money on this.
This review 100% showcases why this franchise needs to go back to Redstorm studios. Ubi Paris had there shot...and missed big time. Between wildlands and Breakpoint I'm ready for Redstorm to take back over the GR titles.
16:27 ah yes of course, when you add a drum mag the reticle changes
Normally i'm the kinda guy that defends a game when it's not doing so well. But not this time. Ubisoft fucked up big time.
have you ever tried playing without hud, as one would with a "realistic" game? its literally unplayable as key prompts and some coplete gameplay elements get hidden with it
im 27 hours in and i accidentally killed Walker at the start of the game
Ubisoft fucked up because this game has potential...
The sad thing is, they wont give me my money back...
Facts.. and I bought the ultimate edition...
@@TomP-148 why? ._.
@@DirtyBikes1 bought it when the option to preorder was first available. Thinking it was going to be like wildlands.. then after the closed/open beta I knew it was going to flop.
@@TomP-148 shit :(
@@TomP-148 never pre-order
Tom Clancy is rolling no cartwheeling in his grave.
This game looks shameful
They still have a bug where the game crashes when you go to silent mountain on pc
Hopefully some day the video game industry realizes that online-only is a con of a game and not a feature.
my pc lagged and I had a flashback to my laptop's masssive amount of bluescreens
