Dad ended up with a rooster given to him. It was a great rooster! I wish I could have gotten him. I want to get Buckeyes to raise on my place. I have to put up a fence around my field before I get any. Great video. I can't wait to get my first flock started.
That all depends on what your looking for in your 1st chicken breed , what kind of set up do you have , are you going to open range or keep in some sort of captivity .
Excellent American breed. People with small flocks would benefit, & appreciate this magnificent strain if fowl. My favorite Hardy breed.

Buckeyes will eat ticks, grasshoppers, mice, and even kill snakes.
