    Wow! You passed on that one Bull and he was awesome! Have not seen the rest yet. Must be holding out for that crazy looking one. Nope, you took a nice one but smaller then they one that was a chip shot. Still a ton of meat to eat and great eating at that. Good job guys.

    Every bull was a shooter to the camera guy, haha. Great video. I’m gonna draw this tag in a couple years, hope I get into as many bulls as you guys did.

      Man they all looked good. Where we normally hunt we aren’t picky and will take anything we get a shot at. This hunt is so different but pretty awesome to get to be picky for a change

    Great video guys, that country is some of the steepest nastiest country around. I've been fortunate enough to hunt it twice with good friends and once for myself on the Washington side. Each time taking spectacular bulls. Congrats on a beautiful wenaha bull.
    Are the wolves having an impact on the Oregon side?

    • @sav300
      @sav300 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      In alot of places including the wenaha. Definitely more where the well known packs are. 54, 56, 57 are really impacted.

      You are an idiot John and don't know what you are talking about! Just stay in Portland and stay out of "MY STATE" you might want to read the regulations before you talk!!! Troll

    • @mjprohoroff
      @mjprohoroff 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thx for the reply! I have not tried that with elk but want to this year. I have used trophy rocks for deer for years and they love them. Did u find the elk preferred one over the other? Did u set them up on wallows or by water? Also, John you are a fool!

    • @andrewmarcott7620
      @andrewmarcott7620 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mike we usually put the granulated trace mineral salt and a trophy rock out together. The elk Love it. They will come back to these spots year after year and dig up the ground for the salt. They love eating the loose salt but if it rains a few times the salt melts into the soil that's why I like putting a trophy rock there also cause it sticks around longer.

    Wowza. That was great. You guys had more success than that harvest, some of those encounters were unreal. Was that the same bow that the string came off? If so did you guys shoot it at before he took the elk? I was just wondering about the timing and all. Congratulations to Andrew and to the nice work on this video.

    • @ericdownes6461
      @ericdownes6461  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! Yeah we made a makeshift target out of rotted out tree trunk and set an empty can of Grizzly at about 25 yards and nicked it so we were good to go. We got really lucky since hiking back out and finding a bow shop would have cost us at least a day of hunting

    Eric . Could you tell us what make and model your game cams are please. And possibly the pros and cons of the ones you were using. Thanks alot. Great video. I'll subscribe now

      It was my buddies Sony handy cam HD. I think he paid $250 for that and some totter accessories. I tried to keep it on a tripod as much as possible but honestly I’m surprised at how clear the video turned out. I’m sure the better the camera is the clear and more stable the video is

      We had 3 cuddebacks. 3 moultries. 3 wild game innovation. We had 1 cuddeback fail on us. Didn't take any pictures. Had 1 wild game innovations fail. I've always had pretty good luck with all 3 of those brands. Bushnell and Browning make pretty nice cameras too actually.

    What is the. Noise when the bulls are in close? Was the camera guys trying to rattle or were you
    standing on sticks?

      320. His rack is deceiving... I thought he was bigger! His mass threw me off. It takes 2 hands to wrap around his main beams up by that drop-tine.

  • @Nwhunter

    You passed a few that were bigger.. That long tined 7x was a stud

    • @ericdownes6461
      @ericdownes6461  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it very well could have been. There were a lot of big bulls in there and part of us wanted to stay out there for two weeks. Once the string came off it kind of made us realize it was time to take something and get the meat.

      Silly comment. Go do that someplace else; not where it takes about 19 years to get a bull tag.

    • @billbriscoe9414
      @billbriscoe9414 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@stillhunterman you did not have to be an A$$! I was just stating that that Calf Elk is Primo eating and it is! I do know what its like to wait years to get a tag. I did not realize this was one of those places but the fact remains that Calf is awesome eating.

    Great video! Truly well done... Believe it or not my wife drew this tag this year with 5 points. Got lucky on the random draw out of almost 3000 applicants! Would truly appreciate any guidance you guys could help us out with., Wanting to pack into the wilderness and do it off our backs as well. Headed over scouting several times over the next two months. I private messaged Andrew Marcott on messenger. Hope to hear from you guys!- Tim

    Horn Hunters NOT meat hunters- that puts you guys at the lowest point of the Human race!
    To top it off you showed no respect for the Bull after it was on the ground ! To top that off
    you admit the three of you couldn't have packed the meat out ! Why in the hell where you there
    in the first place if you can't complete the hunt ! Don't respond with any BS about how far in
    you were. You packed salt in and can't pack meat OUT ? Really SAD showing for the bow
    hunting community ! IT'S a shooter, IT'S a shooter ! If you have any respect for Elk , you sure as
    Hell didn't show it in an hour long film. So Sad .......

    • @ericdownes6461
      @ericdownes6461  6 ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Not that you are worth the time or breathe to respond to, but you have no idea what you are talking about. You don’t know how long we were at the elk before filming him. We had our pack out set up before the trip was made because we knew exactly how far in we were hunting. In order to respect the elk and not waste a single pound of meat in the hot September weather, having mules pack the meat out and getting it out ASAP was better than risking any going bad. Also in response to you thinking we are trophy hunters, that couldn’t be further from the truth. This hunt took 19 years to draw and it afforded us the opportunity to be selective and find and older mature bull. We usually hunt OTC tags on public lands and we take the first legal animal in range so don’t lecture us on ethics. I couldn’t give a shit what a liberal snowflake like you thinks. You’ll never get to experience the up close encounters we did. Every bull we passed was an unforgettable experience and allowed us to continue doing what we love and kept the hunt going.

      Go enjoy something in life and quit griping. These guys did great. If you have any clue at all about the ruggedness of that country, how many years to get that tag, and so forth, you would be embarrassed of yourself. Good job, men, on the hunt and video!
