Ryland is so solid and confident, without being arrogant, because he grew up with two healthy parents who were present, who loved him unconditionally, didn't spoil him and taught him wrong from right.

Ryland truly is a ride or die for Shane, so loyal and protective. I love him. It made me sad when he said “I know I don’t come off great” and how people have called him a brat and other things, I’ve never thought that! His love for Shane is so obvious and I’m so happy that he had someone like Ryland there for him when all the “cancelling” was happening.

    • @rm-zw8fx
      @rm-zw8fx 2 ปีที่แล้ว +23

So true, Ryland stayed true to Shane even though he said dumb shit and made mistakes that others were so angry about they let him fall instantly. It's everyone's choice so eh but I found it very noble of Ryland to accept shane anyways

When Jared talked about only having 1 friend but being cool with everyone is LITERALLY how my life has been. I've never really met anyone who didn't have a group of friends they hung out with all the time and I always felt out of place and like he said, he is afraid of people leaving or losing friends is similar for me. With trust issues on top of that it truly makes branching out difficult from my one friend and the many acquaintances or held-at-length friends. It was great to hear someone who has had a similar experience.

while others focused their hate on ryland for being bouijee and liking expensive things, i always focused on the way he used his style and talent in decorating, to create spaces for shane he could enjoy like his beauty room, panic room, decorating their house. ryland is definitely not a brat, he is a loving husband to shane and truly cares about him.

For the Mandela Effects, instead of asking “which one do u think is correct” or showing 2 side by side pictures, you all should draw it. For example, “draw fruit of the loom symbol” . That way it is solely off memory. And not visual pleasure like ryland said or “prone to correctness” like jerid mentioned.

I found this Mandela effect on Tik Tok and I honestly SCREAMED when I heard it. Do you remember back in the day, when you would watch a Disney movie, Tinker bell would appear, fly around the screen (with the Disney castle behind), wave her little wand and the movie would start? I remember this VIVIDLY. Turns out, this is fake, no one seems to find a film where tinker bell would fly around the screen and I’m honestly not okay with this information.

Tinker bell was in the intro for Disney dvds sometimes and the Disney fast play intro. I never remember seeing her in the Disney castle intro. I think people have just mixed up the intros because they look pretty visually similar and they would all happen before the movie.

Shane's reaction was the same I (bigger gal) had when my little sister (skinny queen) told me that she doesn't like how her body looks. It still blows my mind to this day because to us bigger people, the skinny ones know they look good and everything like that but if you sit down and talk about it. Body dysmorphia or body insecurities hits anyone and everyone.

45:41 I totally relate to all of what Jerid says, for the longest time (and continuing to this day) I feel like everyone is nice to me because they feel bad. I feel like no one genuinely enjoys spending time with me and is just there because they pity me. I never really had a friend group, and when I did, it ended in disaster. ever since I was a kid I have been, like Jerid said, walking around by myself and finding preexisting pockets of groups to hang near. I, too was the kid in my graduating class that was cool with everyone. Everyone knew me, but they weren't my friends, ya know? I feel like Im just annoying the people around me. Anyways, thank you Jerid for talking about this. It showed me that im not the only one who struggles with this kind of thing. This bit of the podcast made me feel seen, thanks guys 💚

Seems everytime i find a group activity or group with similar interests, i get so excited and think yes i've finally find my peeps, but then i leave because im not vibin or feeling it, even though i give it several shots to see if im just prejudging the situation, but after 1st time i dont feel it, and i think my nerves gets the best of me that i self sabotage or forgot how to socialize or stuff to talk about that i get so nervous, says some enbaressing things, just to talk, then i ruin my entire openings for ppl to get to know me because i just committed social suicide lol....so yes.
I also stopped hanging with people just for the sake of socializing, honestly speaking i dont get anything out if being with at least the people i've been with, it's like im bullshitting myself hanging out wirh ppl just to not be alone. It's actually worse, it makes me even more sad & hopeless when the contrast is so obvious once you are with other ppl

Hurt people hurt people, that is such a profound statement. I’ve always tried to believe that what other people think of me is none of my business. If they have issues it’s something that they’re going through it’s nothing I’m doing. I’m open and honest with my friendships and my family relationships and if somebody doesn’t come to me with an issue they are having and decides they want to talk bad about me that’s on them. It can be hurtful to hear bad things about yourself but you really do have to consider the source when it happens. If you do your best to be a good person then you can hold your head up and not worry about it. I really am enjoying this podcast

On body image - Cancers care so much about everyone else all the time & it’s almost impossible to turn it off. I think that’s part of why we care so much about what everyone thinks about us. And then we absorb all the negative things anybody has ever said about our appearance…and that makes it hard to see yourself any other way. I’m a cancer and that’s how I always feel.

I totally understand the way Jared felt in High School. I was friends with multiple groups but never felt like I belonged in any one group in school since I can remember. It has definitely messed with me since because I have maybe 2 friends, none of which live near me, and anyone I hang out with is because my husband became their friend and I’m there by association. While I know/am told that they are my friends too and like hanging out with me, I still feel as if they wouldn’t hang out with me if it weren’t for my husband.

what jerid said about feeling like hes bothering everyone and feeling like theyll leave, thats EXACTLY how I have always felt literally since kindergarten because ive had so many times where its been true. ive found that it made me isolate myself and just do the things that I like to do and not worry about someone else not liking it even though deep down I hated that I didnt have anyone to share my passions with, to share the things I loved with. but I found that it made me more self sufficient and independent as an adult. some people grow from their trauma others will suffer immensely and that is not the fault of the traumatized person. shane I love you no matter what you look like because I love your personality, I love how you can find humor in just about anything and I love that youre REAL, youre genuine, youre open about your traumas and ive found that it helps me understand you better and relate to you better. stay strong shane 💜

I think the craziest mandela effect, in my opinion, has always been the famous line from Snow White which was ''Mirror, Mirror, on the wall''. I'm pretty sure everyone knows it as that, but in fact, it's actually 'Magic Mirror on the wall''. I have watched Snow White in both English and Hungarian, and when I was rewatching it in Hungarian, the Wicked Queen is also supposed to say ''mirror, mirror'', just like in English. She instead says ''Magic Mirror on the wall''. It's crazy to me how I remember it as ''Mirror, mirror'' in both versions. How and why do we not remember it as ''Magic Mirror''. For a summoning chant, ''mirror mirror'' makes a lot more sense as well. PLUS!!! I remember the whole thing as ''Mirror, mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all?''. It actually ends as ''who is the fairest ONE of all?''.

When Jerid spoke about how he feels like people are gunna leave him i felt that. I was on the same situation, i would inly really have one good friend and everyone knew me and i got along with them but i felt like no one would pick me to stick around with … i dont know. I feel like i bug people when i really dont.

Fruit of the loom is the mandela effect that drives me nuts the most. I made a deep dive into it and its crazy. There is also so called residue evidence. I have a history with this logo and personal beef. I know how it looked like for sure.

I love how Shane is so sweet towards his brother. He’s always saying things like “Oh you look great” or “Your sweet” or “Your wonderful”. Like he really brings his brother up, you can see the love he has for his brother. I wish Shane would use some of that positivity on himself. And we love how Ryland is so protective over Shane! He’s just very much like “fuck those people, they don’t live our lives”.

Body image effects my husband so much in so many ways. It effects his willingness to even go out in public! Men's body image is not talked about enough in terms of realistic standards and I think men really need an outlet to talk about it rather than internalising it and judging themselves!
I loved this episode and I love all of you guys 🥰

I relate to Shane's brother about his social insecurities. I have always been friends with everyone but nobody's best friend. And I've lost friends from just telling the truth. No fights, just being honest, and people often don't want to be friends with people that call them on their shit.

I️ am ADORING this new podcast, especially hearing Jerid be so open about his past drug use. Jerid we LOVE you, and as someone else who worries everyone is going to leave them. I️ relate to so many things he said.
As someone with chronic pain that was prescribed narcotics (40mg of hydrocodone a DAY) when I️ was seven) and was also anorexic due to the appetite suppressants from the narcotics and I’m also a thick girl now, and too no longer give a *SHIT* about what other people think.
I️ relate so immensely. I️ also started smoking weed when I was 13 as something to help my pain and called a family meeting after 3months of me using it to tell my parents that it helped my pain, and either I could buy it and be in charge of it or they could. They hadn’t noticed, and in that time I came off ALL narcotics. I told them wasn’t going to stop, both of my moms said “Well… clearly she has the money and the ability to get it. So we may as well get it from Bill (Ima, my non bio-mom’s) brother than for her to buy it on the street.”
My incredibly sweet mom had no idea what she was doing, she tried to give it to me in med strips but gave me FAR more than I️ ever used daily, so I️ ended up never using all of it.
I️ want to thank all of you for being so open, but Jerid sharing his past drug history hit so close to home as someone without a substance abuse disorder that was unfortunately prescribed addictive substances (Not the cannabis prescribed by my doctor at Yale, I️ use it to this day unless I’m driving anywhere, it’s my version of an evening cocktail.) I️ IMMENSELY appreciate his transparency, his standard vernacular is so eloquent, and I applaud him for feeling open to come forward about those topics.
Thank you all for covering everything you do!

      I'm over 6yrs sober from a decade-long opioid habit.
I'm blessed to be here thinking of all the people I've lost including my eldest brother to drug OD.
After I recovered my anxiety tripled to the point of panic and I became agoraphobic. Pain pills and other drugs hid my anxiety for so long I had no idea on how to calm myself down...still don't but I'm doing way better now than I was 6-7 years ago.
Keep up the good work, stay on your RTR.

I’ve missed Jerid since his appearances in Shane and friends vlogs. He was always one of my faves, my sister and I still quote “surrender to the sweetness” from one of the vlogs that we couldn’t stop laughing to. Makes me so happy he’s expressing himself here, almost feels like he’s all our big brother.
