    I think he realizes that it will take time for cryptocurrencies to build up enough momentum that they will eventually become a force of nature that no Government will be able to control. In the meantime, it's smart for him to downplay the potential economic flip that will occur when people realize how much better this is than FIAT currency. The reality is that it's inevitable. The applications being built on Ethereum will become so advanced and data-driven that they will be able to take the place of Government entirely. And it will do so by rewarding the smartest people in the world with prediction markets and funneling the wealth back to the people who should be leading our civilization, instead of the people that have rigged the monopoly board.

      Ethereum isn't decetralised. It's centralised and controlable by creators.
      When it's plus Ripple share of cryptocyrrencies market growths putting Bitcoin in disadvantage that means we are farther from such individual wealth freedom...
      Supply of Ethereum isn't fixed and can rapidly change crashing whole market.
      Is this stability we are waiting for? Is it a way we want to fight FIAT currencies? Nope. This is a way into another trap.

    • @strongman325
      @strongman325 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I'm sorry but how is "real" money any different? When it gets boiled down, ANY currency that has no intrinsic value (i.e is not a good that can be consumed, even gold has no real intrinsic value) only has value because we believe it has value. You can buy goods with currency because the seller believes the currency has value and trusts that everyone else does too. He can't do anything else with that piece of paper except trade it for goods or services. That is the same way any digital currency works. The difference in digital currencies is how they are controlled, or not controlled actually. No person or entity has control over anyone else's money but their own. You should really look into how digital currencies work, a good place to start would be understanding how bitcoin works.

    • @strongman325
      @strongman325 7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Again, you have no idea how how bitcoin actually works from a technical perspective. Any money IS something created out of nothing (ok the paper isn't "nothing, but you know what I mean). We make a piece of paper and everyone agrees it has value simply to make trading goods and services EASY. Before money existed peole simply traded goods. But what happened if I had a bunch of meat I wanted to trade for some clothes. But the clothes maker already had meat and didn't need it, so he had no use for my meat at that time. Money removed this problem because if everyone gives value to money, then you can buy anything with money and that money can then be traded for something else. Digital currencies are no different. They have value because we say they have value. How they are stored is what's different and what's better about them.

    • @strongman325
      @strongman325 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      As is the value assigned to any currency! But ok, maybe you'll understand in a decade or two as digital currencies start becoming the norm and you'll beat yourself up for being so close minded in the past.

    • @scofozo
      @scofozo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@anu1776 Vitalik described the incentives of diversifying a portfolio any way possible, mainly about cryptocurrency but he also talked about land. Awhile ago, land wasn't very valuable because the eviction moratorium in the US postponed evictions. But as it's ending, land is now becoming much more valuable to the people being evicted from their homes. Also, if a depression occurs, land is much more valuable than stocks (that are crashing). So Blackrock was buying land while it lacked value (during the current stock boom and eviction moratorium) and is nuetral on stocks (because they think they're overvalued). Also, crypto is seeing a boom rn WITH the market because like Vitalik says, when stocks go up, crypto goes up, because the incentives are just like stocks

Stability is key for success and this only comes by having real labor "creating" the money, just as real labor creates all good and services that the money is representing.
    Electronic transactions are well and good, we already have been using them for awhile now. Its what is represented in the transfer that is important and im not so sure that a limited supply of a certain type of digitally stored bytes will qualify
