The water source will typically be either a drilled well or a bored well. A 6" diameter steel pipe is used in drilled wells and is bored into the bedrock. 50 to 100 feet is the approximate depth range. A concrete casing of 3 feet in diameter is inserted into the ground to create a bored well (not bedrock). The depth is between 10 to 70 feet, roughly. In either scenario, the well should be built in the ideal location for a plentiful water supply and placed at a safe distance from any potential contaminants.
