    Been subbed for awhile but the thing I appreciate the most about your videos is how planned out and thorough to the point info is presented. Your work with some of the confusing VP stuff for the alp tables have been great. Love this channel

    Nice! I have 2 of their Pixoo max's and a Tivoo max in my game room. Looks amazing. Holding up so far with daily use like 12+ hours a day, 2 years on.

      @@WagnersTechTalk Mine are all jacked into adapters that plug into the wall. USB to outlet. The one over my arcade cabinet can be a bit wonky at times but i think it's just the cable going out on me.
      The Tivoo is on my Zelda shelf. I actually did a video of it under this name called The Nostalgia Cave: A small Game Room Setup.

    The kindness of not saying, "Alexa," out loud is not lost on me. Each time I'm watching a video where "Hey Google" or "Alexa" is said out loud, devices all around me start to ding and talk back! 😆 Very snazzy gadget which has just been added to my Christmas wishlist.

      Thank you for watching, Jon. This would be a great display piece for your set. Too many times I've watched videos that say the "A-Word" and wind up driving me nuts bursting into a shouting match between the video and I with Alexa (Alexa, Stop!!) lol.

      @@WagnersTechTalk In that situation, I always channel my inner Eric Cartman. "Alexa, SILENCE!" 😆

    Wagner,
    Yeah, I've had this baby for awhile now and it's a great art piece in my Arcade :) I'm glad the ones they send out to reviewers come with a power brick, because the retail version, at the time I bought it, didn't (don't know if that's changed).
    Some things I wasn't pleased about the product. After 2 weeks the Divoom stopped functioning, and after working with their support, they let me know I would have to replace the micro SD card. Please note: I WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT. Sure, this is a small expense, but their warranty leaves a lot to be desired.
    And I guess I'm not sure if things have changed, but my Divoom, even after the latest software update, won't allow one to download public images and animations to the SD card. If my Divoom Pixoo 64 disconnects from the network, which can happen during a power blip, I have to reconnect it to my phone to get images and animations to display. If I don't, only a generic clock will come up. I reached out to Divoom to see if there was a way to download images to the larger Micro SD card I installed and they told me no. One can only play images it can read from the network. Bogus.
    Even with my downs, I LOVE the Divoom Pixoo 64. It's been a wonderful addition to my arcade :)

      Thank you for sharing your experience with the Divoom Pixoo 64! Great to hear from someone who's had it longer than I have. It did seem questionable about the microSD card and why I spent some time discussing that. Unusual not to have the capacity etched on the card. Though, I didn't have anything more +/- to say about it. Excellent feedback and thank you for watching!

      Is it just me or is the UI very difficult to understand for the Divoom app?

      I only have the one Pixoo 64 so I can't 100% be certain and don't want to tell you wrong. I'm sorry, unless I could test such a scenario I don't want to provide inaccurate information.

      Very welcome, thank you for watching! With the rest API that is available, should be possible. Just need a service running on the cabinet that can send the image artwork on game change/selection. Should be very doable.

      Their app. is pretty much required to make use of this device. Anything else would require hacking it.

    Just purchased one of these and had a question. Can I plug it into a smart outlet so that I can have it turn on/off with a routine? Or does it need to be continuously powered and turn off either on the display itself or through the app?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I just tested to be sure. I had mine setup to display my YT statistics. I unplugged it and plugged it back in and it returned back to where it left off. I think using a Smart Plug should work the same, it went back to where it left off.

      @@WagnersTechTalk Thanks for the reply and actually testing it. Can't wait to start playing with mine. I have a set up of 30 of the Twinkly squares so I'm curious to play with the divoom app and see if I might be able to adapt some of the art to the squares.

    I am thinking about, buying one. But I read some comments, that the 64 version sometimes just freezes on the loading screen and that u have to replace the sd card and this happens again and again and one time nothing works and so the device doesn't work anymore....so i'm not sure if i should buy one if it won^t even function properly for at least 2-3 years :/

    I think this would be cool if it could be integrated with the steam deck similar to the way bitpixel is with the Alu.

    Can you import pixel art for display on this device? e.g use AI art generator to generate pixel art and then import it to this device?

    • @WagnersTechTalk
      @WagnersTechTalk  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I imported my logo into the app., even a photo and you can then go in and manually edit the image if you want. So, you could use an AI Art generator, tweak it up and send it to the Pixoo or share it with others.

    I apologize for the totally off-topic question, but I'm hoping you or one of your other viewers can help with this. I have found a local A1Up Out Run cab for an extremely reasonable price. On the face of the cabinet, there is the "Supreme" logo. It looks just like the logo on those expensive Mortal Kombat cabs that were sold by that third party a year ago. But I can find no reference to a Supreme version of Out Run. I may end up buying the cab regardless, but was just curious if you or anyone had any ideas as to whether or not this was something actually modded by Supreme.

  • @JaykPuten
    @JaykPuten 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    That is cool, a bit expensive for my normal budget, then again I'm the kinda person who a year ago would have made one by hand with a bunch of RGBs and a pico W or ESP32 to control the board... Though the size would be nowhere near the pixoo64, but I'm also the type of person who (when I can) like things I make or modify myself
    That said, I can totally see how someone who would rather spend more time doing other things ( *cough* playing Arcade games or whatever their game vice is) having that in their room to cycle through pixel art and show the weather or sport scores, especially with that size, it would make it easy to see when like setting up 3D prints or fixing/upgrading that printer ( gotta mention and show love to Enders when I mention 3DPs)
    Cool video, I had no idea prebuilt displays like that had gotten so big and affordable for the size

      Also gotta love any item where there's community support for adding new designs and animations and stuff

      It is a versatile device. I really like all the clocks that are included, I could have spent 20 min. talking on the one subject alone. But if I did, many would get bored of the video so tried to keep it fairly short. Now that the video is over and my testing is complete, it's hanging on the wall and makes me smile whenever I look at it. That's what technology should be about, having fun and enjoying it. I'm definitely all about building stuff, especially when it doesn't already exist. Years ago my son and I built our own custom robot and developed a mobile app. to remote control it (all custom code). It worked great, but I had to make a decision... continue with YT or focus on the robot. I chose YT. In about a week from now, one of the first-ever commercial robots will be arriving here to begin testing. It's light years ahead of what I could have done on my own -or so it appears. We'll have to see.

      @@WagnersTechTalk Alrighty then. Even though DIY'ing the whole thing "could" be cheaper and better, I think? (i just don't have a 3D printer and most DIY variants need a higher voltage/amperage). In Divoom's kickstarter article they stated that they had to optimize the power usage in order to bring it down to 5V @ 2A. They most likely used power efficient LED's (that come with their share of disadvantages). I used to know the exact type of LED's they used but didn't bookmark/favorite the website and can't recall it anymore 😕Also, the Pixoo 64 has some ugly restrictions (or should I say Limitations) that can't be worked around (max 92 frames for a gif, and only 3 custom channels to categorize your pixel art).
