- On Thursday we headed to Hickstead to compete an Open ‘Compact One Day Event’ held at the Sunshine Tour.
Remmi was INCREDIBLE!
27.2 dressage and DOUBLE CLEAR to take the WIN!

Yah they have the cute native cobs and we get quarter horses. Which are fine but not nearly the level of their native ponies.
Well done and Bravo to you and Remi! he is the most beautiful horse with such sweet eyes. I know you must be proud.

Oh my, oh my,.....now that is a REAL horse! Forty years ago (cringe!!) I used to compete on a near identical horse (15 hh). Back in those days though, a coloured cob would be ridiculed, laughed at, sneered at, and generally considered to be a very poor relation to the "proper" horses. I didn't care though, I loved my 'Sultan', and he never disgraced either of us. We actually won at a cross country event once, but all we got were dirty looks from other contestants. He was a real "four wheel drive" horse and safe and reliable under all circumstances. It's so good to see another beautiful coloured horse doing his owner proud. I wish you many years of happy partnership.
honestly though, I might compete an appaloosa in jumping and hunter classes, and they get laughed at and nobody really takes time to appreciate that they are horses too and that just because their color isnt desirable doesn't mean that they are any less of a horse
I wish I could do that with my horse in a couple of years ( im 10 ) . I’ve had merlin since his was 2 now he’s 4 . Merlin , my horse , is a black 16hh gelding that I actually look good on. Well done ❤️🐴!

This has really inspired me. My mare has got a really nasty stop but we're finally getting her feeling a bit more positive about jumping and this is giving me hope that she'll be as bold as Remi is becoming!
Oh that’s brilliant! Rem still likes to pop in a cheeky stop/run out from time to time (I imagine he’ll always be a bit like that) but he is SO much more confident than he ever was - It used to be EVERY time!
you look amazing! I thought it was a pretty tidy and clean dressagetest, would love to see the whole test and see the judges comments/points.
lovely jumping round, Love how he brightened up seeing the jumps, haha. and well done on the waterjump! That was my favorite part back when I did some crosscountry :)
Awww thank you. I think as riders we’re always quite critical/hard on ourselves, well I am 🙈 From the outside it probably looks a lot better than it feels. You’re right, he certainly perked up when we went back out for the jumping!! ☺️

Ahhhh I just adore you two! Your dressage test really wasn't too bad at all! I get the frustration when you know they can do better haha it is annoying but watching him soar around the jumping/xc course filled me with glee so I can only imagine what you felt! I'm for sure working towards this with Peps once baby has arrived hehe you two inspire me so much, going out there and proving that cobs can! #cobscanclan

i competed there on sunday for the eventers challenge but when i got there i felt really really sick because of nerves and had to retire because i was actually gagging because of nerves 😔 my pony jumped mega but now i’m beating myself up because i always get so wound up with nerves and it affects my performance 😔😔
Oh nerves are a horrible thing to battle with ☺️
It is just adrenaline, you need more oxygen, so deep breathing is a big help. Also imagine doing perfectly, go through it in your mind, that is creative visualisation, positive re-enforcement.
I like Fallon Taylor the barrel racers idea of just challenging yourself to do it one percent better every day. And to be the best jockey you can for your horse.

Do you use your dressage saddle for show jumping and cross country.?
I do 😊 He just has the one saddle! Currently in the process of saving up some pennies for a jump saddle though 🙌🏻

I’m new to horses and I want to own one someday, I thought bigger horses with the fluffy hoves can’t do jumping like that
Usually those kind of horses aren't trained to jump, but of course there are many exceptions :P
Uuuh. If that's how you are describing this horse please wait a while before getting a horse.
But to answer your question, they can jump but they can't usually jump as high.

Typically they aren’t bred for jumping but they have such a trainable and honest attitude and ours absolutely love it

You’re right, though the fading line from black/white is his coat though, not anything to do with his clip.
oooohhhhh, I never noticed lol, ive seen the coat pattern change on some horses after clipping on YT. so him not being a common brown horse yeah XD (im currently wrighting this msg at 12:30am lol. and I dont know what im saying)
