Join MSNBC anchor and New York Times bestselling author Katy Tur, when she’s in convo with MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace about her new book Rough Draft and a life spent Chasing The News. Her passion for news began as a toddler when she would ride in her parents’ helicopter as they reported on forest fires, Madonna’s wedding, the LA riots, and yes, O.J. Simpson; that famous Broncho chase is her parents’ footage.
As the daughter of groundbreaking helicopter journalists of which she had a complicated relationship which she’ll talk about, to being a storm chaser, to upstart Trump campaign reporter “Little Katy” became a national news anchor, the wife of CBS Morning’s Tony Dokoupil, a now mother of two. She will reflect on the business of broadcast news, and her role in it during a time of massive chaos, disinformation, and extremism.

Nicolle, tremendous respect for your courage in speaking out against obvious wrongs. You've really changed my opinion of you on Morning Joe, when you were the staunch Republican. You've done VERY well with your own show, and we watch you every night. (When ur not on vacation) lol.

hard to swallow topics discussed incredibly sympathetic and empathetic! Need fresh air after this. "Is there a country you can go?" ... So far it were the US. For many it still are the US (don't forget that!). Sure - the US are diverse and that is part of their appeal. Were Katy and Nicolle at least representative of a core of the US determined to prevail - we could relax. But only 2400 views after 4 weeks indicate something else. Here in Europe there is already a discussion about replacing the philosophy of globalization (= global sourcing) by "friend sourcing". But what remains for "friend sourcing" after Nov. 2024??? I'd like and love to say, countries to go would be Europe, e.g. Austria or Germany. But wait! Here still US issues get taken over - and these are not Katy and Nicolle's ideals... If only decency could have more weight...
Very competent journalists but on cable news became --- as most of them must --performers They therefore are at the same time entertainers.
MSNBC is needed but if it had competition there might be much less melodrama and less set pieces by guests as well as the journalists. There is not insignificant spin..Also, no one has ever heard of income and wealth inequality on cable. If inequality is accidentally mentioned the conversation quickly changes, or they just as quickly rush to commercials. CNN may accidentally fall into a very brief discussion of economic inequality -- very brief and very occasionally. I don't watch much but I'd like to learn when inequality news and commentary has occurred..
Take Away? America is an oligarchy democracy, where you can look good on cable by not being Fox, an authentic oligarchic fascist entertainment station.
