Absolutely love this film. Shot a few rolls in 35mm and 120. Just ordered a bulk-roll. Love your shots as well. It shows me my decision was right to order it again.
Great video
PASTA NOW ! BAR OPEN! Something to protest and something to celebrate, I love it!
Love the shots, I picked up a roll of this in 35mm and cannot wait to go shooting soon!
I haven’t experimented with color filters, but you’ve inspired me to give it a try with this video. 👍🏾
The tonality of these shots is absolutely beautiful, I loved the more abstract shots from the beach the most. I have some Pan F in my fridge I now definitely feel inspired to shoot soon! :)
Thanks Karin! Enjoy shooting it, hope you get some good ones 👍
I love Pan F. I live in the sunny U.S. Southwest and find it very useful. Thanks for sharing.
Nice, thanks for watching!
That's a gorgeous film. Those are some great shots.
I just saw your interview w/ Nico's. It would be awesome if Sarah became the second half of Pushing Film. Female photographers are grossly under represented in the industry, especially in the analog world.
Thanks! Yes that was a nice chat with Nico, and you're right about the under-representation of female film photographers on TH-cam. There are starting to be more lately but they don't get enough attention still. If you haven't already, check out: Madison B, Lina Bessonova, Karin Majoka, Christine Bartoluci, Talya Adams, and Viva La Film to name a few quality channels I follow. And hopefully Sarah will make more of an appearance here if I keep nagging her 😂
@@pushingfilm Ooo Thanks for the recommendations !! This is exciting :-D
Your sunny 16 point really finally made low speed film click for me.
I've only been a film shooter for a year or so, almost to the day actually, but before that it was digital.
So being a newb, I have a bunch of 400 speed film, which works fine in my FE2 because I have that 1/4000 of a second shutter speed to lean on. But with my more recent Mamiya 645, I realized low speed film is way more workable but still couldn't shake the apprehension when choosing it over my go too Bergger Pancro 400 and Portra 400.
But your point with the sunny 16 was sort of a facepalm moment and solved my confusion about a recent very sunny trip to the beach with C200 loaded in my FE2 and more or less found myself with faster film loaded than I needed and didn't understand why until now.
So thanks!
Haha no worries! I always tend to break it down that way with film speeds, especially since the M4 has no meter. Thanks for watching 😁
Yes. F16 @ 60 is the same exposure as f5.6 @ 500 or f8 @ 250, which puts you right on the sharpest stops for most lenses, with plenty of shutter speed to stop camera shake and subject motion.
good vlog.... me too. I am a pan-f fan .. for landscapes along with ortho .. very interesting for me to see it reviewed from a variety of rolls, formats and conditions and subjects ... this could be a a start of little mini series of film reviews
Thanks 🙂 I've yet to try Ortho 80. And there will be more film review videos in this format 😁
I love the Pan F 50, for landscape and long exposure, no need to put ND filter or wait until it is too dark to get those long exposure
Yes!
Man! I love Pan F 50 I always have a good result from it but usually use them in summer with more open sky and enough light
Seeing the photos a little closer would have been better, but thanks for helping me get over my fear of Pan F! 👍👍
No probs! Check out the blog article on my website linked in the description, to see some of the images in more detail
Another great vídeo!
This one review "my" PANF 50.
Thank you for your work, its a plus to film community.
Keep on doing!
Thanks as always Eduardo!
I'm in Crimbourne East, G'day! I'm currently using a Minolta XG-M 50mm f1.7, a Yashica-C 80mm f3.5 TLR, a Rollieflex Tesar 80mm f3.5 with Orange, Red & Yellow filters... Looking forward to use Pan F 50... Woohoo! I'm new to film and want to develop myself but have no clue so I send it to FilmNeverDie...but that's expensive...
I really love shooting Pan F on cloudy days. Whereas most films will look fairly flat and just meh, Pan F looks wonderful. You'll get some real dark shadows with plenty of detail, smooth with that fine grain, and it's amazing just how sharp it is even on 35mm.
Oh? If this is works out i might have found a new film favorite. Ive got a bout 100 ft of 15yo stock i got for a buck fifty and it looks ok asfar as negatives go but im trying to get a digitizing setup (or find a darkroom for rent for a day) I'm already considering a fresh roll from my results.
I love PanF, outdoors portraits are great. I will try with yellow or orange filter.
Good luck!
I really love the contrast of Ferrania P30 but I'm always afraid I'll blow the highlights. Pan F looks to get some of those delicious inky blacks with a little more forgiveness on the exposure. Great video!
Thanks!
I’ve been meaning to give Pan F a go! Nice look in depth look at it man.
Thanks Josh! Give it a try 😁 fast lens, steady hands 👐
That goat shot was really great. Not all good photos are super serious.
It's worth remembering that virtually every famous photograph from the 1950s and earlier was shot on film that was ISO 50 or slower.
Just for fun. try shooting a roll of Pan F at ISO 25, outdoors. Develop about 10% less than normal. Creamy smooth highlights, lots of shadow detail, beautiful tonality and even finer grain.
(Doesn't look like you have any shortage of light in Australia. Unlike England. :-)
That's right! Oh yeah, so overexposed by a stop and do a slight pull? I've been meaning to try that with films like this and Tmax, as I've heard that recommendation before :) Thanks!
@@pushingfilm Exactly. One stop over and 10 or 15% less development.
I've been shooting Tri-X at ISO 200 for 20 years; I like it a lot better that way. (Of course, unless you're shooting in the dark and need the extra speed.) Reduces the grain, improves the tonality, and tames the contrast, especially in bright Australian sun.
All the Foma films are hugely improved by shooting them a stop slower than box speed and cutting back development. Personal opinion: I think they're rated a stop faster than they really are.
I'm not sure I would recommend this treatment for Tmax. I've had a lot of trouble getting pleasing tones out of Tmax, and finally gave up on it. I think shooting it slower and pulling it would make it worse. Muddy and flat. Of course, your results may vary.
Incidentally, I really like your videos, and have subscribed. Keep up the good work.
I Love PAN F Plus, nice video.
Thanks Paul!
I mostly shoot Delta 100 & 400 but will give this a try. 👍
Both great films too!
Cool video! Haven't shot that film yet. Not necessarily because of the 50 speed because that's indeed very workable but I've been so (happily) stuck on FP4. The tonality of that Pan F is incredible though. On a side note, nice system in the background. You build it yourself?
Thanks man! Yeah FP4 is great too 🙂 I did build that system myself recently, after my previous one turned almost 10 years old 😅
Pushing Film Nice build Hashem! Probably not even a luxury with 4K video today. Looks awesome man.
I just put a roll of it in my camera today... so we'll see!
Hope it went well!
Hello ! I've learned somewhere - that PANF50 has to be processede relatevely soon after exposion, much sooner that other Ilford film... Is it right ?
Hey, I have heard this.. But yet to see or experience how much it actually affects the results. I've only left it for up to a week or so after exposing though, so I didn't see any noticeable deterioration.
I am curious about how Pan F works with a little push. Any idea how Pan F Pushed one stop would compare to FP4 at box speed?
I haven't tried that!
How did you devolep this film?
All shots were home developed in an inversion tank. More recent rolls with HC110(E), and earlier ones with XTOL or D76
I like the results from HC-110 E the most so far. I've yet to try it with too many other combos
at 0:55 was that shootwithcoops?
Yeah that's Cooper!
Did you ever try Pan400 @Pushing Film ?
I didn't! But I heard that it's the same as HP5 400 and yet to confirm
@@pushingfilm It is not the same emulsion and doesn't have that much of latitude but it is almost two bucks cheaper :)
@@b.brauner7500 Ah nice! I don't see it here often but will give it a try sometime
@@b.brauner7500 I just ordered a couple of rolls to try, as well as the Pan 100!
@@pushingfilm cool! pls share your thoughts. It is a very underrated film many don´t even know
May I ask you, if when shooting portraits, and you using a tripod?
Hi. I don't use a tripod when shooting portraits, except maybe a few times in a studio setting.
10/10 jason is best photographer
😂 I kind of miss working with the guy, is that weird?
@@pushingfilm it's not weird, I miss Jeremy
Would you guys to overexpose this film too? I only do portraits because this film is very slow then if I overexpose by two stops.
