I'm pretty sure that there are some very nice and genuine people who happen to live among the criminals simply because of economic circumstances.

I was just there, if you can cancel and go literally anywhere else in Italy I strongly recommend it. Went to 7 cities and 3 small towns during my trip and Napoli was by far the biggest waste of money. Go to sienna if you can or Florence or Rome.
I went to Naples and there was dog shit and rubbish all over the back streets. I would never visit them again.
