Nice review, sounds like you are getting on really well with the Cube. I have had my Cube Stereo 160 HPA (2015 model year) since September 2016 and I love it. It was way more bike than I needed when I bought it but I grew into it as my skill level increased. Just fitted a new stem, Renthal bars and new headset bearings to freshen it up. I can't see me replacing it any time soon as it does everything I need it to do performance wise and it still looks good as well. Just need to get out on it more.
Hmmm, nice review. However I bought a 2020 model and I am already into my second frame. I live in the west of Germany and we probably have similar wheather than in the UK and the trails are in "mid-mountain-ranges" from 100 meters to 500 or 600 meters of elevation. The bike-parks also. Although I have been to the Alps with the bike twice. All bearings of the bike were gone/used-up after almost 6 months of owning the bike. Screws in the rear of the bike all had to be tightened every other ride. Well, after 1,5 years of ownership a got a replacement frame from Cube because the old one had a very thin "hair-crack" as we say in German. All in all it is a nice bike with a frame that cannot handle the terrain it was made for in my oppinion. The frame is not strong enough for fast endure rides in rainy and muddy conditions as well as frequent bike park visits. And I am not speaking about downhill tracks but about easy/blue to red-trails. If I a buy a second bike I will look for a big-bike with a stronger and more capable/robust frame.
G‘Day Mate do you have any Problems about the Carbonframe I hear and read sometimes Cube has NOT the best Frames? I am looking right now for a Bike but I have no idea witch Bike. All the best from Germany✌🏼
How has the bike been on longer flat rides? I know a XC or trail bike would be better suited, but this is the only thing currently holding me back from getting a Cube Stereo 150. I don't have a bike rack and usually just cycle the 20km to the trails, struggle around on my XC bike and then ride back again. Whilst great on the flat bits, it sucks on the trail. Hoping the cube could hit a sweetspot in between.
It is definitely a bike build for steeper trail riding. If you are looking to do longer rides on it (but still ride the trails) you are most likely better off with something a little less aggressive. I can imagine that 20 miles would be a bit of a slog on it :)
I love working on bikes and am in the process of re-spraying and upgrading the groupset on my (road... Shhh! Don't tell anyone!) bike. If you come across any good trails in North Devon, perhaps neat Lynton, let me know.
Nice review fella, I considered the Stereo when I was looking for a new bike a few years ago. Cracking bikes.

@@bikeandbeyond thanks mate! Thought it might be the case.
It's been a long time since I've hit a jump. I'm still not used to suspension. I used to be great at endos now? Forget it!
