Jeremy sir id love if u can make a video on improvise with right hand chords like I see many jazz pianists who dont only improvise lead lines but also play improvise chords on their right hand pls
It's really great how you show us the different styles of ballads. Now I know that it's style #2 that I like best and I will focus on learning that. Thank you Jeremy!
Papaya!! Great video! Lots of useful instructions. Studied this stuff already from your book, but it's really good to see this demonstrated in this clear way. I am just preparing for a master class with Fred Hersch, where I plan to apply this to a ballad (Infant Eyes). By the way, your book is so great! I bought it about two years ago, and it started me going back to serious practicing. Before I had just "played" for a couple of years. Now I am back on the "journey".
Oh man, I've got a long list in my book. My favorite ballads album is Keith jarrett's "The Melody at Night with You." Monk's "Alone in San Francisco" is great, Fred Hersch's "Songs Without Words" is a wealth of resources, Oscar Peterson's "Exclusively for My Friends," Bill Evans' "Alone." The list goes on and on.
@@JeremySiskindThese videos from you are amazing! I studied with Mike Longo (RIP) for 8 years (80's through 90's), and that was COMPLETELY life changing. That having been said, what you're offering here is on the level of what Mike had to impart to me. I'm getting SO much out of these videos of yo, and I'm beyond grateful that you're sharing this knowledge. Thank you SO much!
I just told my wife that you should have a hundred thousand subscribers. Your book and videos are outstanding
Patrick! I couldn’t agree with you more. 😂 hopefully TH-cam’s algorithm will figure it out sooner or later. Thanks for the support!
Papaya for sure. I'm in my 70th year and have been listening to and playing piano all my life.. and still I learn from you Jeremy!
An incredible amount of information for free. Recommended for every jazz musician.
Thanks much, Paul!!!

Nice! Thanks, Rachel. I love thinking of the specifics of these ballad categories because there are so many different ways to play a ballad. :)
Another fabulous lesson. So happy to keep learning from you. Beautiful playing. Like your sense of orchestration and melody with back phrasing.
