- Dan Novak and Ashley Thompson host today's Learning English show.
First: Mario Ritter Jr. has the latest news on the deadly landslide in Papua New Guinea. At least 2000 people are believed buried and the area in Enga province is unstable, making search and rescue more difficult. PNG officials are widening their evacuation orders as landslides continue.
Then: Would you like to exercise and stretch with some piglets? Jill Robbins has a story about some unusual yoga partners now on offer at a business in the American state of Massachusetts.
Next: Ashley asks her co-host Dan to introduce the subject of today's LE Education Report. Find out what the term "de facto" means. Then, Dan explores the famous U.S. Supreme Court case - Brown versus Board of Education. The 1954 decision declared segregated schools unconstitutional. But, as Dan reports some researchers say that despite the continuing ban, school segregation has gotten worse over the years, even as the U.S. overall has become more racially diverse.
Finally: It is time for LE's Lesson of the Day. John Russell bases his instruction on a report from Mario Ritter Jr about changes in world trade. Pay careful attention for the "surge." John tells all about it after the report.
Dan and Ashley close the show.
