The Chinked Log Cabin Fire Lay will dry and make wet wood burn, especially in the wind.

When I first saw your channel I thought to myself. How many times can I watch a guy make a fire, without losing my mind. But I'll be damned if I don't almost always learn something from every video. You're doing an amazing job. One of these days I'm going to be in the backwoods and the only way I'm going to get a fire going is from away I learned from you.

Like an upside down fire but without the middle stacks. 👍

Oh man, David! When you held those pieces of fat wood up close to the camera lens, I almost could smell it! 💕
I haven’t been able to really take care of our fires in our wood stove, for the last three years due to a medical issue that I have been dealing with (it is slowly getting better..in the meanwhile, it’s up to my hubby to care for the fire). However, one of my favorite things to do, when it was up to me to get the fire going, was to build a version of the “log cabin” inside the stove, starting out with heavier/larger pieces at the base (the base was solid wood all the way across) and going with smaller/thinner pieces as it reached the top until the top was kindling and such, and let me tell you, when I remembered to do that, even though it was the beginning fire of the day, I didn’t have to do anything with it for at least an hour and a half or more, depending on the size of the pieces I was able to use on the bottom. Unlike, building a regular starter fire…which had to be attended to within 30 minutes or so. It was great! The first time I thought about doing it, hubby thought I was nuts and said that it wasn’t going to work, it took him by complete surprise. This brought back those memories, so thank you!
