Great video. I did my A levels at what was then the North Devon College in the late 70's. Used to frequent two discos, Tempo and Chequers. It's a beautiful area with Ilfracombe nearby and I had good swims at the beaches of Saunton and Woolacombe. Really enjoyed my stay in Barnstaple almost to the detriment of my studies. Brought my wife there in 1991 to visit my old haunts and she loved the town and the countryside.

Lived near Winkleigh (was born in Barnstaple) and would get the train to Barnstaple and then walk up Sticklepath Hill to the college. I used the visit the art shop The Blue Gallery and pick up some art stuff. I remember going to the animal market when I was younger as we needed a lamb. Unfortunately Butcher's Row is not as good as it used to be when I visited Barnstaple 5 or 6 years ago. I even bought some proper fudge outside the pannier market. It was nice to be home. I now live in SW Hampshire.

Sometimes got off the bus at the Strand and walked up Sticklepath hill to the college but mostly stayed on the bus to the top of Sticklepath hill. I'm old enough to remember taking the steam train from Ilfracombe to Barnstaple to go to Barnstaple fair! Oh, Diamond White is/was an extra strong cider (Alc. 8.2% vol). I don't think I ever had one myself as I was a brown and bitter drinker back then. I have the occasional Guinness nowadays!
That used to be the bus station as well where Terry used to sell bad burgers and bottles of 'poppers!!' to drunk+stoned folks pouring out of Xenaxis and Khaos!
If you cannot remember what you used to get up to in barnstaple then I'm sure I can refresh your memory. Pannier market was where we used to hang out with the cars. As well as the car park opersite bees which is now the bus station .
Diamond White is 'supposed' to be Cider. Tavern in the Town for several pints of Blackthorn was my go to, then The North Country or Cork and Bottle once I got closer to legal age.🤔

You’ll be happy to know that Terry is still alive, he’s 78 now and still working. Not in the burger van industry though 😢

I had forgotten about cars in the pannier market. There was a carpark opposite Bees? I don't remember that.

Before diamomd white was in big plastic bottles it was in glass bottles and a normal cider, not the killer it is now..

I worked at The Inn on the Strand 1990-1994 and Zenaxis, and headed over for 2 Cheeseburgers at Terry's Hot Dog stand, great times.
