    Shannon🥰 I've started my purge pile as well, most of the CH is in the purge pile, but keeping Sarah Kay too because it's the only one I have of that artist. You purged quite a lot considering you have already gotten rid of 100 books. You've inspired me to get rid of a lot more. Thank you for sharing!

      @Keniv. by Purge do you and Shannon mean donations to charity or selling to color community?
      I am new to the whole purge thing, because I started in the beginning as "picky" about books and artists. So I never bought any I wouldn't color at least 50% or more of the illustrations. I don't have many books as most of the community.
      There are are 2 artists I'm interested in collecting books for. Christine Karron & Anastasia Koldareva.
      So if you here of anyone in the community selling the CK grayscale fairy & fantasy books I'm interested from paying shipping and any negotiation on total costs within the U.S. Please send them my way, Shannon has my email contact for only trustworthy sellers in the community. Thank you for any assistance it's greatly appreciated. 😘 Happy New Year

    I'll be interested to see the new Mythographic coming out in a couple weeks and decide if I will keep my order. It is one of the last I have on pre-order. I don't think moving forward I will be pre-ordering them like I was, never got them on time anyway. This is a new artist though, I do like crystals, so the theme is intriguing.
    I just went over to Amazon, there are a couple sample pics available to view. Hmm? Not sure based on the images I saw. I guess, we shall see. Thanks for sharing your collection!

    Why all this purging? I struggle to understand, but I am by no means trying to be critical or negative - it is a genuine question to gain understanding for the motivation behind purging your collection. I myself am bitten by the collector bug, maybe because I usually am too ill to actually colour and I enjoy my collection through looking in my books, admiring the art, planning and dreaming - and of course, getting new ones😂. My collection is very big, and mostly uncoloured, which probably would provoke some people and call it a waste. If so, I would not care, because I get a lot of joy out of my collection and truthfully my daily life for the last ten years, need all the joy I can find. So that is where I am coming from, I would really struggle to purge anything. So I would love to understand your reasons and also, some of those books you could get some money from selling, but instead you gave away over a hundred books - that is incredibly generous of you and I hope they brought a lot of joy where they ended up ❤

    • @shannieblue
      @shannieblue  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I do sell the books that are uncolored. If I can pass the others on to people who can get enjoyment out of them instead of them just sitting on my shelves collecting dust, I would like to do that. I was given charge over my Uncle’s estate in 2021 and in going through all of his stuff, I have realized that if I’m not using it, I need to let it go. In the end, someone is going to be left with all my stuff to have to go through and if I can purge a little bit along the way, they won’t have so much to have to worry with. If it’s not stuff I’m enjoying, I don’t need to continue to hang on to it. I need to pass it along to someone who will get enjoyment out of it-whatever “it” may be. ❤️

    • @SusannesCreativeEscape
      @SusannesCreativeEscape ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for answering my question! I understand your reasoning, it is rather compelling and a good habit to have in general. I myself am way to much of a packrat, keeping everything «just in case»…like my clothes…I have kept the best of my clothes since I was around twenty, that is 30 years ago now, just in case I one day had a daughter who would like my «vintage» clothes (I have a daughter and she actually does use a lot of my old clothes😂 so in this case I lucked out) These days I am bound to my bed and can no longer walk, and while I had control when I was not ill, our home today is kind of overflowing. I am itching to loose fifty percent of what is in the living room, etc, but it is out of my hands. Our home is in serious need of decluttering! So I think you are really on to something. By the way, half the reason we have so much, are things inherited from our grandparents. I could not possible purge the now hundred year old dinner china we inherited, but at the same time, it is not something one could use daily. The same could be said of so much of our stuff. Our parents are now very old, and yeah…while that is not something I want to think about, the practicality of it is hard to fathom. Especially my husbands parents have so many antiques and handmade things from the family generations back. We will need a second home 😂😢I guess a lot will be put in storage and kept until our kids have their own homes.
      Books…while I assume I have just short of a thousand colouring books, I have had reading as my number one hobby my whole life, and I have in the vincinity of three thousand books. I no longer buy physical books, except colouring books ( and cooking books sometimes eventhough I can no longer cook), all books bought are now on kindle. I am so happy I have kindle, because as I am sure you can imagine, this was becoming a big problem 😂😂😂
      Yeah, serious purging of this house is needed. Although…when only my kids get their own homes, oh, the space that will open up…their rooms, their stuff, all the boxes filling our storage space and attic, with their legos and toys that they just HAVE to keep…yup, they are my kids for sure, the little, well not so little any longer, packrats that they are. Just my daughters stuffed toys alone….😂😂
      We also rent out an apartment on the ground floor, that we will keep for ourselves for our kids to stay in when they want to come home for visits, with their future partners and eventual kids, also for my nephews to come and stay, and fortunately this apartment will need to be furnished, and I do not think we will have to buy a thing to do it 😂 except beds so I guess…no, come to think of it, handmade beds by a carpenter great grandparent will probably need space…
      So yeah, this is a bit exaggerated in style, but it is a bit insane. As is the length of this essay I have composed. All I really should have replied, was how much what you wrote reasonated with me and how much I appreciated your answer. But no, I had to do my best to put you to sleep with my longwinded answer. I apologize. I should delete, and I guess I might still do that, but for now I will post it. Don’t worry though, I never do this, so it will not happen again. Usually, if I can get away with just an emoji, that is what I will do.
      Best wishes for the new year, Shannon, and I look forward to play your monopoly game!
