Nicely done, very informative - so many videos just show the scenery but loved your description on the foods, markets etc! Going to Cook Islands in October, cannot wait! Thank you.
Thank you so much for making this video! This is the most helpful Raro video I've watched so far, and I've taken notes as to when the different markets are open. I appreciate the time you took to put it together! Thank you!!
Hi Kathleen! Glad you enjoyed it! When are you going? Wasn't a big fan of the night market but the Saturday one was well worth it. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to add them below or email me! I hope you have a fabulous time!
@@ChristineTurner we're going in July! I'm most nervous about the Dengue fever, and stonefish. I live in a very snowy part of north america, and I've never even heard of those things until I started researching the Cook Islands. We're stopping there on the way to New Zealand. It looks neat. Did you go to Aitutaki?
@@kathleenhawkes7543 Ahh I'm in Vancouver, so yeah - it was a big change!! You definitely want water shoes - we saw lots of jelly fish. I wouldn't know a stone fish if I saw one! We didn't go to Aitutaki - too expensive and not anywhere near Raro, so we didn't want to waste the days. I thought Raro was remote & rural - I imagine Aitutaki to be 100x that.
Kiwi here. Stayed at the Rarotangan in a beach side cabin last year and going back in a couple of months but to a different place. Amazing little island and perfect R&R location. For us, it’s just a 3 hour trip and really cheap with the benefit of not having to exchange and $$ as they use NZ money. Love it.
Hi Danny! Ah yes the beach side cabins are really amazing. Much better layout and you can't beat that view. Very fond memories of that trip but it was a journey to get there! (6 hour flight to Hawaii then another 6.5 hrs to Rarotonga!) Have a great trip!
❤❤❤Thanku for sharing. Might help if you buy a Flower head ei. A hand made ring of flowers to wear on your head. They sell plastic or live flower ones on Rarotonga Helps protect you from the sun and sunburn. And you will look even more beautiful #I❤Rarotonga
Hi Ericka! Thanks for watching! I've worn those flower lei's before and they do not compliment my face shape at all lol. We did get greeted with flower necklace lei's upon arrival though - they were beautiful!
Hi John! Our flights arrived very late at night so we hit the easy button and stayed at the Rarotongan Beach Resort & Lagoonarium for the first 3 nights. (review video here: th-cam.com/video/xZVCFY9nCIA/w-d-xo.html) After that, we opted for a house rental (there were 4 couples traveling together) and stayed at an amazing place (house review here: th-cam.com/video/JODl3nz3yhA/w-d-xo.html). There were other hotel options, but I think this one was the best, with the complimentary snorkeling and kayaks. Rooms were very basic - if I stayed here again, I'd definitely spring for a beach front room. Hope that helps!

Hi Jeanne! I hope you have a fabulous trip! Be sure to check out the Saturday market and that mushroom sauce - so yummy!

Lots of time spend on food. Well, Some are into more than food. Thanks.
Hi YoursTruly! If you have any questions about the island that I didn't cover, please let me know - I'm happy to try & help!
This is my escape place almost every year for 5 weeks. My second home .
Hi Erika! You must live a heck of a lot closer to Rarotonga than me!! It's great that you get to enjoy this beautiful island every year! Enjoy!
No i live in Vancouver but worth the flight
@@erikaglockl7661 wow you are a tough cookie! That was a long flight from there but I did enjoy adding a week in Hawaii along the way!
