I remember my nephew being born in the 2000's when I was 10 and I think I've held on to that memory ever since: Gen Z is new. Then a day ago I overheard a mother telling her child, "Haha I'm not a boomer [name], I'm Gen Z" and it hit me so hard I almost developed a concussion

I'm not surprised the population of clown fish went down 75% after the movie. Every movie that they featured a animal that was possible for people to own as pets they went out and got like how kids wanted a Beethoven or the beagle from Cats and dogs. They should have expected that.

    • @chesh1rek1tten

Tbf, the other movies showed the pets being happy when being a pet at the end while Nemo showed all the fish wanting to escape captivity.

The stupid thing about taking clownfish from the wild, is there's no reason to do this, as they readily breed in captivity. Captive-bred clownfish are also used to humans, so they spend more being active rather than hiding.

The Australian band TISM had a song that predicts social media stars/talent shows "If you're not famous by 14" released in the early 2000s. The band also broke up in 2004 and did not play again until 2022.

Eating Bill The Butcher Mac & Cheese while watching this video!
It is inspired from the 2002 movie Gangs of New York! (I used to own that movie).
It is Spiced Sausage (frield Jimmy Dean sausage + Sandhill Ben's Original Seasoning) + basil + Kraft Mac & Cheese + topped with Parmesan Cheese.

It's the noughtys. The 2000's might refer to the third millennium (2xxx) or 21st century (20xx) as well as 200x. So we should specify 20-noughts (or 20-aughts) or noughtys (just like 203x is thirtys).

"Quixotic" is weird because my brain tells me it should be pronounced key-HO-tic, since it originates from Don Quixote (pronounced key-HO-tay), but then I remember that words are made up and it doesn't matter.

    x On the 2000s:
o I call the 2000s The Explorer Decade.
o It's likely the dance club culture will be based off of the 2000s
† My favorite music artists like Madonna, Rihanna, Lady Gaga, and Britney Spears would be a smash hit very quickly if they used the music and music videos of the decade to build the culture.
x In relation to Debbie Downer:
o Speaking of Lindsay Lohan being the host of that SNL....the first movie I ever went to by myself in the theater was Mean Girls
† I was one of two people in the theater during the movie.
o This will be hard to understand without an understanding of the Enneagram, but I am a Enneagram Type 7 and am driven insane by Debbie Downer types in reality.
† Hardly anything makes my spirits drop quicker than someone ruining a fun time by self-centered drama.
† It was the worst in college where someone would start crying in the middle of the party simply for the desperate attempt to get attention.
† It is also the worst when going to something fun like a rolling coaster at the theme park and one's buddy folds under fear out and wants to go home.
† One of the worst routine downers is when people go to socials or parties and make up excuses so they can go home at 7 or 8 pm!
† Whenever I have parties, I often remove all the furniture so no one can sit down (they actually addressed that topic on the tv series How I met Your Mother).
† There should be a book written about common downer sayings like:
    - "If I didn't have bad luck I would have no luck at all."
    - "The only guarantees in life are death and taxes."
    - "I can't ever seem to get ahead."
    - "Another day another dollar."
    - "If only I had enough time to do the things I want..."
x In relation to Merriam Webster Word of the Year:
o (BTW There is a website called Time Traveler that has a search engine for the Merriam Webster first-known printed use of words by year).
o 2003 - Democracy - I find that people use this word a lot they though don't necessarily seem like they know what it means.
† For example, I have seen people casually interact with groups and complain the groups aren't democratic (I would think a person would need to be a member of the group to reasonably make that claim).
o 2004 - Blog - The term actually was coined my senior year of high school (and the blog itself was created the last year I was in junior high).
† The most memorable blog title for me was that of lawyer Bob Loblaw on the tv series Arrested Development (Bob Loblaw's Law Blog).
o 2005 - Integrity - I remember when this was the word of the year, it was the most looked-up word at the time.
† A co-worker and I at the time, while working an office job, asked co-workers if they knew what it meant.
† I'm positive that most people have no idea what the word means (I always tell them it means "consistency of values" ).
o 2008 - Bailout - Considering the economy is suppose to be generated by competition, getting a bailout is the biggest failure that the average person could imagine a competitive business person would have.
† Corporations often get a bailout because they get greedy, expand too fast, then fold in half.
    x Regarding MySpace:
o I had a Myspace account that I would use mostly for trying to network and for sending messages to other users.
o I remember quickly going to Facebook because Facebook was easier to use, it ran more smoothly, and because it had Messenger (where a person can instantly write messages and get a quick response).
o I have heard of people wanting MySpace back in popular use because they really liked the ability to customize the page like that.
o MySpace is one of the websites I hope becomes popular again.
† They really need to re-engineer it and promote it for the page customization.
o As far as I know, it was bought by Justin Timberlake (one of my favorite music artists).
† JT could hardly be more significant in pop culture as he helped create YT (Super Bowl Halftime disaster), is linked to Facebook (he is on the movie The Social Network), is in the hit movie series Trolls, etc. (he is so successful in the world of pop culture that I could be typing things about it forever).
x For the crazy world of instant messaging:
o I could write a series of books about the insane instant messages I have received over time!
o HIGHLY RECOMMENDED ACTIVITY FOR MENTAL FLOSS: Try to contact unique celebrities through instant messager on Facebook!
† I had awesome conversations with the Ro Sham Bo (Rock Paper Scissors) world champion!
† Had an awesome conversation with a boomerang world champion!
† I received messages from someone who says her uncle is D.B. Cooper (Marla Cooper).
† The bodybuilder Nataliya Kuznetsova, who is the female with the biggest bicpes, sent me an IM!
† Ice, from American Gladiators, sent me a Instant Message (IM) (used to watch her on the tv series).
† I received an IM from Ekaterina Lisina (World's Tallest Female Model, she is destined to be famous soon!).
† I received an IM from Arden Leigh, who is a Siren (a female pickup artist who created the group Sirens who will also be famous soon!).
† It's such a fun and meaningful activity!
    x For American Idol:
o I only watched the first season of American Idol...it's hard to imagine Kelly Clarkson as an unknown today!
    x Speaking of popular sites:
o The three sites I go to the most are:
† Google - Established in 1998, the year I graduated high school.
† Facebook - Established in 2004, the year I graduated grad school (Master's Program)
† TH-cam - Established in 2005, right before I left the school system (I was still working with Charleston Southen University at the time).
o I often open up all three at the same time when I start using the internet.
x Speaking of cool shoe things (like Heelys):
o I really want some of those shoes with the lights on the sides!
o There are split-sole dance sneakers called Fuego.
o I ordered a pair of Skechers that were on a Mr. T. Skechers commercial.
† I graduated elementary school in 1992 (when Skechers were established) on Mr. T's birthday! (May 21st).
o I used to have some orange Nickelodeon shoes, they were so cool!
o I also used to have a pair of Reebok Blacktops, which are outrageously expensive to buy the same pair now!
o I really like Doc Martens, used to wear those during college at Doane University!
o Converse Chuck Taylor shoes are the most popular Gen X shoes!
o Donald Trump has exclusive gold shoes with a T on them!
o There are Keith Harring shoes (the street artist), his designs are on the World's Largest Puzzle that I have!
o A collection of Willy Wonka x Converse shoes was released on my last birthday!
x In reference to Finding Nemo:
o I used to have a crush on Ellen Degeneres after I watched the movie Mr. Wrong.
    x In regards to Scientology:
o I used to frequently chat with a woman that was from Tilden, Nebraska, the birthplace of L. Ron Hubbard (Founder of Scientology).
† She told me about the time that Scientologists were trying to donate a playground to Tilden (because it was the birthplace of L. Ron Hubbard).
    - Her mother was the only adult who was 100% against the idea because she knew how hometowns are bought by outsiders.
    - She said that her mother gave an incredible speech to the public against the idea and it convinced the board that accepting the playground was a bad idea and they decided to reject it.
    - This woman said that was the proudest she had ever been of her mother.
x NSYNC is one of my favorite bands (them and Backstreet Boys).
o A member of Backstreet boys graduated high school the same year I did (Nick Carter - 1998) and a member of NSYNC was born the same year I was (Lance Bass - 1979).
x About the first episodes of Star Wars:
o Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones was the #1 movie when I graduated at Doane University.
o Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace was released (May 19, 1999) exactly three years before I graduated Doane (May 19, 2002) and Star Wars: Episode III was released exactly three years after I graduated (May 19, 2005).
o I would consider the Star Wars Prequel Trilogy to be the representative movie series for my Higher Education (starting with college, then grad school, then working as an unofficial intern as a Career Counselor at Charleston Southern University).
