he gave you a great interview here........looking so well for 76.......still the energy & enthusiasm & really great advice .......thanks Leo or Gerard !
As I watch this on the first day of 2025, I have been telling folk all around the world that this is the first day of the rest of your life. Thank you so much to Leo Sayer for some beautiful and memorable songs and for the honesty in this interview. Can't wait to see you on stage. Bless you.
Wow - what a treat to see Leo. He's such a talented man - amazing! His voice is still just the same unlike many others of his era. So unassuming too. Will never forget his first appearance on Top of the Pops. I was enthralled - he was so different and it was immediately obvious he was so creative and musically talented.
Here from California, USA. We still play his music all the time here in the states. I would definitely pay to see him in concert. My mom bought his album in the 1970's & probably still has it. What a delightful person, happy to see he is doing well and still performing. I just bought his songs off Itunes to add to my playlist! 💞 Thanks for sharing, You make me feel like dancing everyday! 💕 Leo you rock!
Leo is a top bloke and sings many a theme to my life growing up in the 70's!! I'm 58 so I was pretty young through the hey day, but not too young to enjoy his music!!
Absolute legend!! Went to Leo's homecoming gig in Worthing Sat night, the man is an out and out pro entertainer, made it look so easy, his vocals are still spot on, long may he carry on......
What a lovely bloke. Fantastic singer of great songs. Great to see he is still filled with youthful energy and vigour. Loved to try to sing along to his songs back in the day.
I watched a clip of him from about 5 years ago on an aussie show where he sounded very aussie after living there so long. Now his voice sounds very English again. But anyways his singing voice still sounds amazing. He reallly has some classic hits under his belt. American #1 songs. I feel he is very underrated. He is also a lovely down to earth guy. They dont like Divas in australia.
This was unexpected but fabulous. Leo Sayer. 76 going on 20! I remember his breakthrough single, even though I was only 7. Some really great songs that still resonate. Fabulous vocalist! No autotune in those days!
Love you legend Leo ❤ ever..more than i can say.. your all songs and lyrics. Becase they feel me my bottom of heaet. Thank you again..again..your creativity I m Sri Lanken fan ..Roshani
Still a brilliant performer, loved his music from the begining, seen and met him loads of times always pleased to see you.llooking forward to seeing you in hull next month xxx
I'm here because I've been watching concert footage filmed at the BBC's "The Old Grey Whistle Test" studio, circa 1974. I knew of Mr. Sayer from his hits (and he rented a castle in the UK from a former boss) but I had NO IDEA how incredibly talented he was! I also listened to a performance when he was around 70 yrs, amazing! Still pitch perfect! I'd go see him live in a heartbeat. The Show Must Go On. :-)
Oh this is so fantastic!! I have always been such a fan of Leo Sayer! Love his songs, lyrics and the melodies. Was the main music I listened to in the 70's. Gorgeous interview, thank you so much for posting!
To me MR. Sayer is a continuation of the Bard. This makes him very special to me. Because that tradition goes back in time a long way. To me what he's doing is a immortal act. There will always be Bards, and Druids, whether or not they call themselves that. I suppose In romantic about our history on the Isles, and like to connect as much of today to yesteryear as I can. Bless Leo Sayer, all original his own boss, and a creator of very fun music.
Fantastic. This is the attitude as Australians we should be seeking when welcoming immigrant's to this great nation. If a superstar migrates to Australia for a better and grounded life, protection of what we have is paramount. Imagine if the situation in the United Kingdom was to happen here. Those who wish to undermine our spirit and sometime totally destroy the structure of our unique privilege from within, we as a united people need to quote Bill Heslop and shout. "Wake up to yourself' (Lydiot Thorpe). Our message needs to be loud and clear. Don't fuk with Australia and this goes to outsiders and insiders. Let in more Leos.
Came across you channel algorithmically as was listen to Leo....seeing him tomorrow night a tha London palladuim...loved him for along time ❤great chatted you had with him...here from England 🏴
I worked in the Music Industry (touring sound production) in the late 80's to early 90s in Australia. Happened to work on a couple of Leo Sayer gigs, and helped him out one time when he was on stage (just doing my job). He made the time though to come out after the show to find me and and thank me. It was such a nice gesture from a true down to earth professional. A really nice change for the "star" attitude we usually had to deal with. Such a down to earth nice person. Funnily enough, he moved to Australia and I have moved to the UK. (Smile) Glad to see he is doing well still.
Супер Вау! Вы мой кумир в моей молодости и куда то Вы пропали? Я сейчас Вас слушаю с удовольтствием! Будьте всегда в трэнде! У Вас голос прекрасный и песенки Ваши просто наши Ваши Вау
Great interview. I'm old enough to remember him in the charts, and on Top Of The Pops here in the UK when I was a kid. I even bought a 'Best of' album for my mum on one of her Birthdays as he was one of her favourite singers. I also have a similar fear of water due to 2 childhood incidents.
Nice one Paul! Leo/Gerard was very generous with his time and you were lucky to get a word in! I did wonder if the windsurfing connection would be Shoreham/Worthing, being the UK’s Mecca for our sport (at least back in the day). but clearly Leo’s never going to be more than an admirer of it!
I'm glad to see Leo has lots of security devices around his home. I like his advice up the end, but sometimes a original plan starts to flop and maybe the real trick is know when to move on.
Saw him at Birmingham Oden in either 1974 or 1975, a very powerful voice, he could have done the gig without a microphone! My favourite album is Another Year
I remember seeing Leo in Blackpool at The Winter Gardens in the 70's, l half expected him to come on stage in the clown getup, still a great performance, though keep rocking
Never heard of Leo Sayer and my first time seeing and hearing him was on a social media platform where someone posted him doing the show must go on live. At first i was like WTF and all the sudden when he dropped that 1-2-3 Baby i was completely blown away. You could feel him singing . Im not a big music guy but what an amazing performance. It led me to search for more of his songs and this interview. What a great interview. He appears to be a pretty genuine and down to earth guy. th-cam.com/video/O6gEkfwozhE/w-d-xo.htmlsi=2uyT1yEhgyzBDihZ

Im really disappointed to be watching this on Nov 1st, having realised that I missed the UK tour completely. I've just listened to Leo's 2016 album and it is truly amazing. I only knew his hits from the 70s but after reading about the level of success he had ( I'm a lifelong fan of The WHO but didn't realise of his collaboration with Roger Daltrey), would have loved to see him live. I've registered on his site so maybe in the future.....
Multi artist shows are the end of the line for big acts, they start off by being part of multi act shows, then do their own shows. The artists usually ends up living or performing mostly where the fan base is..
My friend rather sarcastically told me that Leo had actually once compared himself to The Beatles to which my reply was “ yes , what’s your point ?” Just a boy ….giving it all away x
Thanks to Leo for giving his time. Super friendly guy!
Very cool 😎
Worst part of his life was all the crap he suffered early on, lots of scum in the music business
he gave you a great interview here........looking so well for 76.......still the energy & enthusiasm & really great advice .......thanks Leo or Gerard !

Being British, it makes a nice change to see Leo being interviewed in home country of Australia.
I still got (and love!) his album "Endless Flight". Great to see he is the same positive, smart and genuine person. Power on Leo!
