  • Come join me as I rediscover an old mall in Klang which I used to often frequent for many many years and see how it is doing after the pandemic and with the opening of the newer Central I-City Mall just a stones throw away. What you see may just surprise you....

This mall is dead. It used to be the most happening hang out place for Klangites in the 1990s till mid 2000s until the opening of even larger Aeon Bukit Tinggi in 2008. But when Setia City Mall opened in 2012, Klang people don't go to Aeon Bukit Raja anymore. The main issue with this mall is the size is too small for today's standard. People tend to shop at larger and modern malls with some 200 shops at least. Pity because Aeon Bukit Raja is located in a very strategic place with numerous of roads and highways. If the owner or operator of this mall wants to revive it, just demolish and rebuild it. Make it a mall with at least 700,000 sq ft of net lettable area to make it a serious regional mall. Given a complete makeover, this mall can rival Setia City Mall, Aeon Bukit Tinggi and even Central I-City.

Definately has seen better days. We are too spoilt for choice when it comes to malls and usually older malls will be harder to compete with newer malls unless its offering something like convenience, variety and entertainment. Aeon bukit tinggi is still popular despite its age.. Let's see if there will more improvements in the future or not. Only time will tell.

@@foodzillafootprints In my opinion as someone who loves to visit malls, a newly opened shopping that could not attract big names as their tenants have high chance to fail. There are many great case studies such as SS2 Mall, Space U8 and Harbour Place Mall.
The only mall that still shine in Klang is Aeon Bukit Tinggi. Another is Setia City Mall which in my opinion is the best mall in the Shah Alam/Klang region. Both malls are more than 10 years now but they are doing great since day 1, thanks to the management that could understand what shoppers need.
I can't say the same to KSL Mall.
I believe Aeon management knows the shortcomings of Aeon Bukit Raja - that is it is a small mall, but to give it a major makeover such as expansion is costly.
