I'll never regret buying my Husky 610. I had always been a sportbike guy but I bought one super cheap thinking that I could fix it and sell it for a profit. Sure enough, all I had to do was some carb work and that was it. I couldn't sell it because I fell in love with it. There's nothing like being able to ride down the road, turn off road into a dry creek bed, and then back onto another road.
Hi guys. I’ve always liked the videos you guys did and it’s a shame you stopped as a team. You’re fun guys and very very respectful in personality. Thanks for all your work in the productions. Cheers from Australia
Getting a wr250r dual sport is one of the best decisions I ever made. 2 bikes in 1, ride street and dirt all day. Riding a dual sport in the twisties and the dirt is so fun. You can beat on them and they just keep going. Cheap and easy to work on, cheap to insure and own as well. Dual sports are worth their weight in gold!
Yeah, save money for a dual sport and riding pants, boots, all the gear. All the dual sport adventures I've had in the desert and forests have been 10x more rewarding than street adventures.
GT6SuzukaTimeTrials Here in america the DRZ400 has a carburetor. If you like carbs then that is a great bike, however, the WR has fuel injection which I personally prefer.
Cut the cable, trash the DVD and turn on TH-cam. Pure entertainment for those who live life. I'm inspired to do a longest day in Idaho vid, water, tarmack, air, dirt and snow. Time to celebrate life. Nice work guys.
You guys are producing some of the best motorcycle content on TH-cam! Thanks for that. Crazy skills too, fun to watch you guys rip it up, even though it always makes me just a little jealous.
+motorcycleguy73 I just bought my 701 Enduro today and it is so much fun I don't even know how to explain it. definitely one of the only bikes of its kind on the road
As an husqvarna 610 sm, i can say, she works grate off road! no off road tyres required! i love my bike, husqs are grate, and now, with the ktm behind it, i see no limits for them! just we had this 701sm here in brazil! grate vid guys! see ya
Gotta love California. I've done that too! Surfed in the morning in Ventura CA, then went snowboarding in the afternoon... Then that evening I rode my bike to a salsa dancing thing that night :)
I don't know the guys doing the directing , doing story board, and doing the post production work but props to them. These are fun, entertaining and clearly top notch. OTW is first rate! I want Sumo wheels on my KTM now!
I bought a 2009 Husky 510 supermoto right when they hit the showroom floors. It had its issues but now that ive seen this 701 it makes me want to take out a second mortgage on my house and buy one!! I rode Painted Cave and E Camino just like you did in this video. (All over the Santa Barbara area really.) Awesome riding with kick ass views. Keep up the good work guys!
I've watched this video so many times to vicariously ride the 701 through you guys. Sold my DRZ400SM and I'm picking up a '17 701 SM this weekend. Can. Not. Wait.
SuperMoto isnt dead by a long shot! Still alive and kicking in a lot of area's! Nor Cal has a couple different groups, So-cal does as well! We are keeping it alive and kicking! Although I havent seen any Husky 701's around yet...
Totally agree with Zack's point. I have the CRF250L and am working diligently to get a SM setup for it, then get a FZ-07 in a year or two. More expensive than just the Husky when all said and done, but the few thousand more gets you a whole lot more motorcycle(s). Anyways, I'm glad a factory supermoto is making It to America.
11K, how quaint. It has been a few years since this video was made. '23 Husky Enduro owner here soI will speak to that. It was stupid money, and it cost even more to tune it and set it up, but OMG it is the most fun bike I have ever owned. As decent as they run stock, they really run when fed more low end and part throttle fuel via a PC6 with an O2 sensor dongle, and breathing out a proper exhaust, which results in Mega Braap City! Thus fortified the big thumper becomes a totally different animal. Such a naughty bike, with the traction control off it just wants to rip wheelies and terrorize business parks and under construction housing developments. While heavy, these bikes are much lighter than the similar displacement "adventure" bikes, making for a good trail bike as well. Excellent no BS firmly sprung and valved accurate suspension may not be cushy, but it helps in the canyons and off road, allowing it to go faster than advisable. Ya still have to respect physics while in the dirt, while on pavement physics no longer seems to apply. From a purely cost based standpoint the 690/700/701 don't make financial sense, one can buy a lot more pounds of bike per dollar, even from KTM, but that is not the point. The point is what the bikes can do, which is basically everything, if not as well as machines that are biased toward the street or dirt. They are a niche machine, but if one's riding desires fit the high performance premium true 50/50 dual sport niche, ya can't do better than these machines. Most riders want more dirt or street bias, the Enduro model really is a 50/50 bike, which makes these machines not a great fit for most. My 701 is bracketed by a 300 XC and a Super T, so it is a great fit for me, and I am a lucky man.
Hey guys, would it be possible to get a road map of your trip those roads looked epic! I live in San Luis Obispo, so very close to the start of your adventure!
oh man, I return to this video once in a while, watching this makes me feel happy!! I am "oldschool supermoto dude" with a drz400sm + knobbies and I do ski... So much joy in this video!
I know it's been 8 years. Still, I have a question. In the end you say that you can buy the SM and put larger enduro wheels on it. Are you sure the wheels will hit the body when the suspension is pressed?
I recently picked up a used 2009 Yamaha FZ1, and a 2013 Suzuki DRZ 400 SM, both of them for the same price that I will sell my 2015 FJ 09 for this coming summer! And they both came fully stocked with aftermarket parts!
I'm a dirt junkie, ex track junkie. I have a 701 E and a set of SM wheels and kickstand. I swap back and forth, and have enjoyed this bike more than any I've ever owned. Buy one.
Great review. I was hoping to see you switch both bikes to Timbersled kits. Not a cheap endeavor but a total blast to ride. How about a second episode.
The photography was exceptional. Is there any shot you didn't get? Drones, camera cars, go pros, hand helds, every terrain, every shot. Also a great review. Good work for all of you! Can I have a job please?
What are the exact differences between the sm and enduro. Obviously wheels/tires and im guessing roaters and such but is there a difference in gearing or anything?
Why can't you put the street tires on the enduro model instead of buying dirt tires for the supermoto model? What are the advantages of going one way or the other?
They don't change the yoke, or fork width. You can fit the Moto wheels into the Enduro, and vice versa. There may be some changes to spring rates, and suspension tuning to alter height as the geometry changes when you put a smaller supermoto 17" front wheel into an endure based frame designed for a 21" wheel.
Wheels and tyres are one change. The other is front disk size. Its usually easier to buy an Enduro, and find the bits to make it into a Super Moto than the other way around. Rather than looking at this expensive overweight under powered bike, I would suggest looking at the new CRF450X, or the WR450. Both are MUCH lighter, and have MORE power, but need some work to make them road legal (depending on where you live)
"MUCH lighter and have MORE power" are a bit misleading. My 2013 YZ450F is @ 60lbs lighter than my 690 Enduro, but it is down on power. When you factor in rider/gear weight, (@ 225 loaded for me) that 60 lbs isn't huge, and the power difference (power to weight ratio WITH a rider) is a lot closer than the bikes' power to weight ratios imply. Having said that, my YZ would kick the crap out the 690 in pure dirt riding.
YOU GUYS HAVE THE BEST JOBB EVER IN THE WORLD EVER EVRER and i know its not just rididng and having fun i go to film school i know its alot of work with the filming to and i would just love that jobb :O
KTM 690s in a sweet graphics package... nice! My 690 Enduro R was the best buying decision I have ever made. Grab one of these and you'll never go back to a straight road bike; these things fly on dirt and only weigh 320 pounds... same as my DRZ400 but with twice the HP.
I love the philosophy....This year i'm trading up from my old carb-equipped FZ1 to a new Tracer 900GT to try to get re-invigorated. Thing is, I'm keeping my old XR650L cuz even an old thumper is still just a hoot to get on and blast around.!
Amazing video, well edited and put together. What an experience. Quick question. The Yellow and White helmet your wearing. Is that a Touratech Carbon helmet. Love to hear your feedback. I'm looking at getting the husqvara and also looking at ordering this helmet. Is the helmet noisy?
You guys have done a lot with the Honda Grom in the past. Will we be seeing a Head 2 Head with the Grom and the newly unveiled Kawasaki Z125 Pro anytime soon?
Awesome video guys!! Now, I am a little confused about which one of these you would get... Enduro or street? And, how is this bike different than 690r when riding ?? Is it true that's just a name difference??
+moulin6801 Engine is same, but suspension, frame, fuelling, fork angle, gas tank is different, turns better too. Considered as good evolution of 690 enduro generally

I honestly think you two have the best job in the world !

Hi CC!
+CycleCruza I even saw your vlog of the WR250 and how it was more fun than your CBR, I've been willing to save money for one now.
Yeah, save money for a dual sport and riding pants, boots, all the gear. All the dual sport adventures I've had in the desert and forests have been 10x more rewarding than street adventures.
DR-Z400S vs WR250R?

Another great video guys, I have the orange version it's call KTM 690.
So they are the same bikes?
+JodogXMC they're the same but the Husqvarna has the 3 position riding switch standard. But its a 99.9% white KTM even the parts on its say KTM.
+JodogXMC I probably would buy one just to be different in the sea of orange motorcycles
+motorcycleguy73 I like the black version, the 08 690 e. :)
+motorcycleguy73 I just bought my 701 Enduro today and it is so much fun I don't even know how to explain it. definitely one of the only bikes of its kind on the road

And this is why a 65 year old 1200 sq ft box is 750k in California.
Truly a great video. Loved the part where you took the enduro off-road and the supermoto was doing the corners.

I know it's been 8 years. Still, I have a question. In the end you say that you can buy the SM and put larger enduro wheels on it. Are you sure the wheels will hit the body when the suspension is pressed?

Why can't you put the street tires on the enduro model instead of buying dirt tires for the supermoto model? What are the advantages of going one way or the other?
They usually change the distance between the front forks to accommodate the wider street tires... so you'd have to buy a new top yoke and the rest...
Thank you. I too am curious to this because I am new to bikes and am looking into a supermoto or a enduro but can't decide what one I want.
