Ofc there was slavery in Ottoman as well but Ottoman slavery was quite different as it was time limited (It was getting even shorter if they became Muslims) and their children were never ever considered as slaves rather full citizens of Ottoman!! And perhaps the biggest difference was vast majority of Ottoman slaves were white europeans who were captured soldiers or european children taken from their families if they fail to pay their tax which is why it was called ''blood tax'' by many Ottoman Christians. And even those children weren't becoming slaves instantly rather they were taking several years of education while depending on their success they were joining Janissary corps or even getting more education and becoming Pashas and Viziers that there are even several Grand Viziers in Ottoman history who were actually children forcefully taken!! But if they were unsuccessful on their education they were sold as slaves so ofc in today's conditions these are still terrible and extremely inhuman but during that age's conditions Ottoman actually had one of the most humane slavery on Earth and it wasn't about racism, skin colour etc at all rather just providing some extra manpower for the empire!! Which is also why Ottoman always accepted African volunteers into it's army and immigrants that quite a large portion of today's Afro-Turks came this way..

Slavery was different in the Ottoman Empire. The so-called slaves would only work for 8 years and receive a salary, then they would be given some money and land and gain freedom.

Sorry, but you are dishonest when you say, “Europeans do not say their children you do not mary a black person, but turks do” look at that people none of them have pure black background they even their GRAND GRAND parents married a Turkish person(LEGAL spouses with proper weddings) and they still marry, is it case for europeans or americans? When they say to their daughters do not marry a foreign men they also mean pure white Norwegian men. Not blacks in particular. So if a parent ok with his daughter marry a Norwegian men and then he/she is ok with her to marry a black person either. And no 8 years are not a lot when it is compared to other parts of the world. Of course i am glad black slavery over, i would not wish anyone to be in that situation even for a few hours but you cannot judge things from today’s values. Ah and Ottomans enslaved way more white Europeans than Blacks. And Slave ownership was very expensive and they mostly there for domestic work rather than plantations, thats way it is not as widespread. But there is one thing rich people took white slaves as verry young to marry their son when she grow up, it was not case for africans slave girls, we can talk about discrimination here, but regular Turks seemed to not have problem marrying a black girl/men.
I completely agree with you! But the thing is that i think these three guys are really nice, on the other hand they have an interesting approach to slavery. I have a looot of Nigerians friends and i can assure you that from every of them the reaction towards slavery was the same. They all somehow came to the conclusion that it was some sort of history that europe slaved them and they seemed to be fine with the european white people having done that altough they really did not just slaved them, they did the most phychoptahic things to them. When i used to mention the ottoman empire was not like the europeans, they were some sort of mad at me by mentioning it, which i found very strange. There are 4- 5 main reasons for their mindset in my opinion. First, is that they see themselves superior over the turkish people and cant stand that the ottomans(muslim) slaved some african parts. Secondly, their is a huge antithinking wide spread in Nigeria, they hate the Housas ( muslim tribe) and another thing i think is that they prefer to be when they want with a european white person rather than with a turkish person. They want to be with people they look up to and unfortunetly these people are mainly german french british, so basically all other countries who really hurt and slaved them for long time and still have presens in their countries. Again this is not an insult! I think what happened with them in the past due to european slavery marked their pychology a lot. I think its just more time needed for healing and reconnection to their lost roots, doesnt matter if they were born in africa or another continent. The Continent Africa suffered extremely!
Hey guys I just wanted to share some facts about black people in turkey Even though they were brought here for slavery which is a really bad thing. It didnt last long and there are some afroturks who had accomplished some good things like ahmet ali çelikten is one of the first black pilots in the whole world, there’s esmeray who was an important and beautiful afroturk singer and there’s kuzgun acar who was a black sculptor, an artist in turkey and maybr more examples like this that I don’t know so the slavery thing is not like other countries and black people were free in our culture for soooooo long time before other countries. And we love you guys I like your channel so much by the way it feeks good to see brothers from different cultures (which I thing not that different between turkey and nigeria) try to understand turkish culture and history and music and humor keep going. I wish you luck.
egede var köylerde yaşıyorlar.genellikle maddi durumları çok iyi tarlalarda işçi olarak çalışıyorlar. bazen ege dışından gele birine durum anlatıldığında inanmıyorlar.
Their accent is just so turkish which is why u don't understand 'em. And actually during ottoman era, white ppl token as a slave more than black ppl token. Concept of slavery in ottomans was very different than Europe those times.
Evet ben gordum konustum amerikaya kole olarak gitme diler turkiyeye kaçmışlar türkiye kabul etmiş bana öyle anlatılar türkiye onlara toprak ve özgürlük vermis❤❤❤
I think they try so hard to explain the slavery system in Ottoman in detail is that they don't want it to confused with the western system of slavery. The slavery in Ottoman Empire was not restricted to African people. Wherever Ottoman Empire invaded they bought/captures slaves back as well as brought gifted people (soldiers, technicians, artists etc). once a country was invaded was considered a part of the empire and they were given free access to anywhere. They could move freely. Also, there was no law (like it was in the USA etc) to avoid doing certain things (attending schools marrying who you love, etc..). And according to the law, the terms were slavery was defined strictly, like 8 years etc.. Does it mean it was fair,? NO. These people just want to reclaim their culture and want to be recognized for it. But they don't want it to be perceived as the same as long term exploitation of a race because they were deemed inferior. Although, I would say that turkey is not free from discrimination whatsoever. We do not learn about the richness of our cultural heritage enough as well as injustices. I am sure there are many Turkish people who had no idea about the slavery in Ottoman empire and hoe long it lasted.
Look nobody said anything to mix marriage cuz basically it wasnt mixed they were both turkish speaking the language and had the same religion ... now a days it has nothing to do with colour it is just language barrier
15:30 He is trying to say something to him; he does not tell a racist approach strange bakılabiliniy for black people they were curious and interested in what they see because it is low in Turkey.
im a turk who lifed 12 years in germany and im like 6 years in turkey i can say that in germany 15% are hard racists and 30% are racists in the 30% are the 15% involved but also so much germans are anti racists they are mostly good people but the racisim is much more to the othere countrys in germany
It was different from the slavery of the Ottoman Empire in Europe they were just trying to 8 years and the salary based on the best terms of 8 years were left free whether or anytime a certain amount of land thereafter can return to live or the country as he wants mold in Turkey

My husband is 1/8 Afro-Turk ☺️ his ancestors came also from Sudan
Afro-Turk People also lives in Antalya's Villages. I found a inresting thing. I was have twin friends. They family living in Denizli. My childhood friends. This twins have odd characteristic. one of the twins was black and the other had a far eastern appearance. Black appearance one likes rap music and like smoke weed :) other far east looklike one loves japanese girls and k--pop and metal music.
their movements and behavior were likewise different from each other. And im looklike barbarian and we was best friends. :))
14:34 They talk about Europe’s history, not todays
wooow. I didnt know really anything about Afro-Turks. I so much loved this video. Thank you. :) When I first time heard about slaves in Turkey, I feel shame and sad. Ottoman time there is slaves but not for just skin color. Slaves from very diffirent country. This is not colour racism, it is a culture racism.

Do you guys live in Cyprus? ... I took a DNA ancestry test recently (I'm Cypriot) and found out that i had some African genes from Sudan .. About 8/7%.
Bizim mahallede de var. 20 senedir bütün gün aynı kavede oturuyor. (manisa)

Slavery was different in the Ottoman Empire. The so-called slaves would only work for 8 years and receive a salary, then they would be given some money and land and gain freedom.
believe there sadly is racism in germany even to people with other religion, ethnicity.. I experienced that as a turkish person
I think in the beginning you couldn't understand the teyze very well bc she was speaking with a regional accent. im from the trabzon/karadeniz region and i speak with the similar accent as her... i think maybe she's from/living around there? im not sure i might be wrong but that is what i think :)

Hey guys I just wanted to share some facts about black people in turkey
Even though they were brought here for slavery which is a really bad thing. And we love you guys
I like your channel so much by the way it feeks good to see brothers from different cultures (which I thing not that different between turkey and nigeria) try to understand turkish culture and history and music and humor keep going. I wish you luck.
There is no slave in turkish history we are all humans and we love human if they have heart .
İm turk Love you my brother❣️
LOL, I think you guys misunderstood whole video. They say there wasn't much discrimination in Turkey as opposed to US and Europe.
Only 50% of the captured slaves survived the journey across the Saraha. The Eunuch death rate was about 50%.
egede var köylerde yaşıyorlar.genellikle maddi durumları çok iyi tarlalarda işçi olarak çalışıyorlar. bazen ege dışından gele birine durum anlatıldığında inanmıyorlar.
Ottoman slavery different from others. An white can he slave from other country too.

THEY SPEAK TURKİSH WİTH EGEİAN ACCENT REASON THAT YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND THEM
There was no slavery in the Ottoman Empire. They were brought in as a working class.
Technically, there were.
No, there was slavery in Ottoman but it was not too harsh like Europan’s, and not only Africans were slave, some of other white people were slave too.
@Fwrus Uses Thank you for this information 👍🏻
@Mehmet Emir Demirkol prove it to opposite
@Mehmet Emir Demirkol Hayır, kölelik gayet de vardı. İnternette biraz araştırırsan köle pazarlarının fotoğraflarını da görebilirsin.
bizde renk ayrımı yoktur bunu kafanıza bi koyun..bizde ırkçılık demek vatana millete laf söz edene Türk olmak vardır.
Their accent is just so turkish which is why u don't understand 'em. And actually during ottoman era, white ppl token as a slave more than black ppl token. Concept of slavery in ottomans was very different than Europe those times.

Oha ilk defa görüyorum ve duyuyorum
the world's first African fighter pilot was in the Ottoman army
Kadın babanneme benziyo ya🥺❤️
Look nobody said anything to mix marriage cuz basically it wasnt mixed they were both turkish speaking the language and had the same religion ... now a days it has nothing to do with colour it is just language barrier
You cannot hear "don't marry with a black man" in Turkey. But if a black man is not Muslim yes you can hear. Religion is important.
according to the video, the person on the far left looks like jackson marchetti in the sex education show

15:30 He is trying to say something to him; he does not tell a racist approach strange bakılabiliniy for black people they were curious and interested in what they see because it is low in Turkey.
In the ottoman, slaves were paid salaries, even meat on the feast of the sacrifice and even the land
im a turk who lifed 12 years in germany and im like 6 years in turkey i can say that in germany 15% are hard racists and 30% are racists in the 30% are the 15% involved but also so much germans are anti racists they are mostly good people but the racisim is much more to the othere countrys in germany
It would be nice if you could add Turkish subtitles to your video

Merhaba. Would you look at Galatasaray's 2012/2013 Champions League story?
It was different from the slavery of the Ottoman Empire in Europe they were just trying to 8 years and the salary based on the best terms of 8 years were left free whether or anytime a certain amount of land thereafter can return to live or the country as he wants mold in Turkey
Peki o insanların kısırlaştırıldığını biliyormusun?
They said they were slaves in france and runaway from there to ottoman empire.

Bu videoda anlatılanları İzmirlilerin %95'i bilmiyordur bile Afrikalıların İzmir'e yerleşmesinden bahsediyorum.
