Things to focus on in your redesign of the interior: 1) water/windproof the walls floor and ceiling, 2) 1 inch closed cell insulation panels on the walls and floor with taped seams and spray foam in gaps, 3) USB-C PD ports on both walls of the interior, 4) extra 12V sockets, 5) noise suppression panels, 6) insulated blackout drapes between the front seats and rear compartment.
@CoastDreamz Thanks. Being warm and dry, being able to sleep soundly and easy access to power outlets at your fingertips are primary concerns for me. Then comes esthetic details of interior materials and colors. Storage, I can't see shelving going up unless there's a drastic reduction to interior space, which Maria can't do without losing livable space. Her storage is going to have to remain as it is. Perhaps a rail system allowing everything from the edge of the front seats to the back door to be removable easily on rails?
I would also proper size lower cabinets on the side with the sink and you could build in a fold out table that doesn’t drop down but opens from the bottom up with single leg it would act as a door cabinet when closed so you could have storage behind it. You could even build in a fold out chair on the other side near the table along with a slide out sleeping platform if you need it . When you designed the space you didn’t have the roof tent for sleeping space so now you can redesign the lower space to be more functional than an all in one space all the time. But upgrade the door locks and handles and make sure the electrical of the vehicle can handle any upgrades power wise. As a father of two daughters my biggest concern for you is security.
About the redesign of Poe's interior: I think it would be a good time to water proof Poe. To seal up all the cracks and gaps that let water inside. Including the floor of the cab where water gets on your feet when the road is wet. Also would be a good idea to put up some foam insulation on the walls. Maybe move the heater, or where the heater vents, so it's easier to keep from getting blocked. Maybe get some more storage units attached to the outside of Poe. I know that's not the inside, but it would give you more room inside. Also get installed something that blocks the cab off from the rest of Poe, to help get the cold air out. And get a proper window cover for the back, so you don't have to use a blanket.
I will echo a few people here and say that weatherproofing Poe should be a priority. Keep the wind and rain on the outside. Security should also be high on the list. Personally, I would integrate secure/hidden storage within your new build out. Keep your stuff out of sight and out of mind. I would also make sure all of your electrical, heat, and water are shown some love. Nothing exciting or fun, but peace of mind goes a long way.
Poe needs a tiny kitchen! Every time you cook on that butane/propane whatever thang it scares the bejeezes out of me! Even one burner, a proper sink, and some decent counter space (fold down like your table topside?) I’m really happy you’re refreshing Maria, I think it will be a good thing for you and Tazzy. The OK 4WD people a real ones for sure!
I agree about the burner lol. I think I’ve suggested before even a rice cooker that plugs in seems safer lol. Granted you can’t make coffee in it but a lot of different meals can be made. Like the one burner idea too 😊
Fix the water leaks, add insulation, re design so the power banks don't have to be on the seat. A stove built in, possibly an induction stove. Slide out kitchen/table or fold down on the rear door. Seal/water proof any woodwork. Marine grade carpet to cover the wood in the 'living area' makes it nicer (I've got a built truck). The awning is a great addition, I use mine in winter but have side panels to make a room, sit in there with a heater going and it's cosy.
I could not disagree with you more about the croutons.. Garlic Parmesan croutons are soo good, and if they are too hard, just pour your dressing and wait like 5 minutes and they will be chewable and less hard. Oh and that awning is AWESOME. holy cow!
Ria, I love your swing-around awning. In fact, when you unfurled it at OK Four-wheel drive, you looked like you were part of a cirque du solei troupe or Olympian who won a medal. That was smooth. 😁👍🏽 Of course im only one of many here with ideas for Poe, but here’s a list of jumbled and potentially intelligent yet dumb suggestions you can take with a grain of salt: Ready? Okay here goes…: 1) A built-in loud speaker to scare away naughty wildlife or maybe to blow your harmonica into next time you’re with Becca. 2) a collapsible wall-mounted shelf to store excess items when the need arises. May also double as a desk down below. 3) A large water bladder for lengthened showers or cleaning up which obviously collapses down. 4) A Murphy-style bed thinly made. 5) LED strip lighting inside or outside of Poe. Perhaps for use with the awning when your sitting beneath it while eating, editing or whatnot. 6) a counter-sink combo that slides along the floor or better still, a floor-wall track. 7) a seat warmer for your drivers seat. 8) a dual induction cooktop with the countertop and sink perhaps 9) a shoe/boot/glove/sock dryer 10)a mount for and with an external Jerry/fuel can for extended and remote trips 11) star link service 12) CB radio for emergencies or just to chat with or get road condition updates from other drivers/truckers. 13) front bumper winch. 14) Seal and insulate your walls to save heat, hence fuel…Especially, that leak where Becca got soaked 15) A dedicated Crouton trash can. Anyone, feel free to add or rip apart. Lol Be safe Ria. A cheesesteak does sound good about now. Take Care
We bought our house from a retired music mastering engineer. He had his equipment set up in what we now use as a guest house. Rick Rubin bought all of his equipment and placed it in a specialized room. The former owner of our home finalized music for nearly every motion picture and commercial made in the 90’s and early 2000’s as well as worked with those signed by Death Row Records. He said he got use to them bringing their AR’s to the studio. Pretty wild. I loved listening to his stories. Love knowing our home has some music history.
Just as her big brother Blue did, Tazzy has stolen my heart. I just lost my soul dog last month but have asked him to choose and send me another doggy when he knows I'm ready 🐾🐾 Love the 'new' rig!
You need a dedicated book shelf to start. Get your library away from your water pipes! You need more shellac on your counters/wood to prevent water damage and slow down wear. Would definitely recommend getting a safe bolted down somewhere in the truck and not telling anyone where 😅. Excited to see more updates! ✌🏻
If I were designing a defender for myself with your current upgrades: 1. More accessible storage. On the kitchen storage side I would put a floor to ceiling shelf behind the seat. Whether that be for clothing or misc storage or a book shelf etc. 2. Build new cupboards/counters with the fridge integrated in. I would have the counter on a hinge to be able to open the fridge but that way it’s out of the way. Would probably keep the bed area similar with the hinged storage lids. But I would add a drawer on those heavy duty slides or drawers you can access from inside. 3. Waterproof everything. Seal the cupboards and counters.
First and foremost, gut Poe and seal up all your leaks and draft points. Put some storage up the side and make a better vent for your diesel heater. Build a frame for your fridge and power bank (maybe hardwire so you can plug into Poe from the outside to charge and run electrical when you can.)
Since your new build is going to be with you for years of daily use - don't skimp. Here are some ideas for Poe: • Weather proofing - do what you need to keep the elements/cold out and heat/dry in (some added insulation panels perhaps?) • Add secure locking doors/drawers - make stealing your stuff difficult. (Maybe a secret hidden spot too?) • 10 Series extruded aluminum t-slot build (light weight and sturdy) • Build for how you use it (E.g. need a comfortable place for Taz and you to sit and chill and a fold out desk you can use to edit/prep space) • One side could be top to bottom storage space (your fold out desk would deploy from this side) • Do you have a stand along diesel heater? •Also, did I mention a fluffy spot for Taz? :D • Consider your charging needs in the design - a charge station might be nice.
Now that you have the awning, it would be cool to put your kitchen area on a slide out mechanism so you can pull it out and cook outside when you want.
Water proof ! Storage ! Storage ! Kitchen area with sink, big water supply and a reasonable countertop space ! The rest, I think you can get done ! Peace ✌️ !
I would use 10 series 80/20 extruded aluminum in Poe with HDPE/King Starboard panels to rebuild with. As a professional whom builds solely out of marine products I think this would last you the rest of Poe's life. It is pricey but well worth it.
Insulate it! Seal up all the drafts and please fix the mechanical issues (diesel tank, window wipers that actually work in all conditions, full service) And make it more efficient for what your needs are so that your big items like power banks and fridge are hidden away and giving you more comfortable liveable space 🙏🏻🤗
Things I would personally do to Poe: Waterproofing, Insulation, AC, Insulated Window Coverings, As much storage as possible, I think the idea of a foldout table is wonderful. A more permanent sink with a cover for the top (thinking of what you see in a camper) so that you don't lose workable counter top space.
Okay, 🎉 just found you.... hope the best for you, and yours!!! 🎉 been on wheels for 8 years now. Living in different vehicles ect... 🎉 if you drawing out your wants and posting them to yourself 🎉 take all your mistakes and wants and put them together..🎉❤ you will make a great new setup for you...🎉❤🎉 I believe in our ABBA FATHER GOD and I believe in you!!!🎉 we all know what we like in our rolling home so let's do this!!!!
I own a 2006 LR3 in CO. The most reliable Land Rover by far. Love my rig. Soooo jealous you have Poe! I think your set up, by design, is spot on but perhaps a little glamp upgrading is necessary and well deserved.
Ok a couple of things, first, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you Taz, Mom and Dad and siblings. And two.would you please say where you are at the beginning of the video? You may think that you do or maybe I missed it but a couple of times I wasn't sure where you were.. Btw, I am a 70 y.o. retired teacher and sometimes I am so jealous of you but then when things are going wrong im glad that I have my house in FL. LOVE YOU AND TAZ!
I love my AluCab table. We also installed a net above it near the top to throw things in like extra pillows, etc. We are going to install the raised back rest later but for now we use blow up wedge pillows. Get the side walls for the awning if you have space to carry them. They are perfect for the winter.
Anything you do to po, make it something that makes your living space more comfortable and user friendly. I’m looking at Taz, she is so sweet I absolutely love her.Happy Christmas to you and your family, and spoil Taz she deserves a Christmas too.❤
You should put a hard fiberglass top on your truck. A bubble top like vans have so it's warmer, quieter and you don't have to put it up and down all the time! Plus, no worries about tears in the material.
I have a rhino batwing. Absolutely love it. I had it attached to my truck canopy when I camped in the back of my truck. Recently, I upgraded to an arctic fox camper so I moved it to my horse trailer. My horses love it too. It’s nice they can have shelter from the elements while we’re camping.
I recently found a great use for croutons. My brother gave me a bag of Texas Toast cheese and garlic croutons, and I used them in some Campbell's Tomato soup. Let them soften a bit before eating them. Delicious.
some completely random ideas. Waterproof it, wind proof it, insulation. Make the furniture modular or foldable. Outdoor shower, maybe a water storage that connects to the outside with a hot disconnect. Add security on doors. Add cameras or add a secure safe that's hard to take out and open. Add some conveniences to help you like a creative solution for the sink/cooking situation. It's a small space but you will have to think of vertical storage and organization to add on the non bed side. Maybe a strong peg board where you can hook things to and you can hook tables too and take things off and on as needed.
Licensed to Ill came out right after I turned 21 yrs old. Imagine experiencing clubs for the first time with amazing music like that coming out. Good times!
HOLY CRAP, I'VE BEEN TO THAT EXACT PHILLY PLACE! My brother lives in that area and works at the naval base. He's like, you have to get a good philly while you're here, and took us there!
I absolutely love your channel! So happy to see each new video. Taz is precious & just coming in to her own. ❤ And Poe is the baddest Poe to ever Poe!!! ❤❤❤
Maria, HOPE you & Tazzy Lou are doing good, Really Miss watching your videos! God watch over both of you keeping you guys safe & happy...😇🙏💕☀️🏕🌎🛣🚜🏞🗻🧭🏖🏜🏝
Thank you for another year of great videos, I love watching your travels. Kudos to you for your resilience through such a tough last few months. What I have loved the most is seeing Tas's transformation into a secure, confident and joyful dog. You've healed that little girl's heart and it's a beautiful thing. Wishing you a great Christmas and an awesome 2025.
Watch other TH-cam videos on honda element build outs. Theres so much you can do. I would make the passenger seat rotate so you can sit comfortably inside. Have a drop table for that seat. Get a rice cooker. They make small ones and you can cook eggs, soup or anything. Watch Solar Camper....he cooks everything inside his suburban. Get a porta toilet like his. Have it built into the bench seating. Get a small safe installed for valuables and cameras for safety. I think watching the element build outs will help the most since poe is small. Good luck.
Love your energy. But I think the best thing you could do for Po is to sell her and buy something much better. And much newer. And a little bigger. Good luck with all that.😊
I first saw your upgrade on OKFWD and girl I am totally stoked for you ❤ but seal the gaps you have in Poe especially where Becca got wet lol I cannot wait to see the upgrades.
Taz cracks me up! I seen her laying there in her spot while they’re attaching every. Too funny! Ria that awning is amazing! Glad Poe is getting updated! Go Roaming Reckless!!💙
Front swivel chairs, foam installation, sound and wind proof, more side storage especially above your kitchen area. Sort your diesel heater situation out. Sort leak and rust out, black out windows or cover ups. I would sort the sink area out and fitted properly with no leaks, adding a fold out table somewhere. Small Book case above the dash. USB ports, sort windscreen wipers out and lastly install a flat cooker hob so your not trying to balance a frying pan on your single upright burner less clumsy Maria 😂LOL. Merry Christmas be safe x👍🏼x
i just love your videos they make me so happy and motivated. poe is becoming the best overland vehicle out there. i would loveeee to have a poe of my own in the future and go travel. Tazzy is starting to open up so cute and playfull. u are the best dog mom out there
Since you sleep in the Alucab so much, I think you could easily pull out your passenger seat and build out a bed/couch area on that side of the rig (then Tazzy can be your shotgun rider) and then make a little enclosed area for a toilet (if that’s something you want - if not, even a closet!) toward the back of the rig. Then on the driver’s side you would build out your new kitchen with storage included. Please also include a better way for you to get up and down from the Alucab to prevent falls! Another totally opposite idea would be to block off your back door completely and have more of a u-shape in the back and then pull your passenger seat out and access from that side with some pull-down or pull-out stairs. That may not work because how would you open the Alucab? Just trying to brainstorm different configurations!
Really great seals and insulation. Can you do heavy duty plastic instead of wood for easy spill clean up. Storage for your power bank and fridge etc installed to give you more easy access but also efficient room
Probably more likely that they can pick up closer to a few hundred with diligent and consistent training. Not sure if you’ve seen the videos where they use buttons, but there are usually a few dozen there, and ones being added all the time! I think dogs are capable of much more than we realize!
I've been to Pennsylvania once and I loved it. I visited Hershey and also Gettysburg and had a blast. I visited Hershey candy factory and it was awesome. Gettysburg was an unforgettable experience and as i'm typing this I'm having flash back memories and same with Hershey candy factory.
Last year from July to November I was on the road. I decided to pack up and live in my car to explore Colorado and find new places that had beautiful views or that were unique that no one had thought to go see also I went to Utah and Wyoming. I loved it! I will definitely do it again. But in a bigger vehicle or a sprinter. I watched you when you were in your Subaru. 💙 You and Becca make me laugh. 😆 Thank you! 💕🙏🏼
3:15 healthiest meal I've seen on this channel. As far as POE modifications, it's crazy to me at this point that you don't have a good sound system installed in the truck, with a head unit that has a large screen connected to Apple CarPlay so you can navigate your trips better and starlink.
I so agree. I would make wider countertop for cooking and in thicker wood that you put on hinges so it can fold down and then you can pull a big bed out from under your bed for company! Wow. That was a LONG sentence 😊❤
I think we are all in agreement that focusing on the insulation and leaks inside Poe are the first and foremost. We all just worry about you and Tazzy. Love the upgrades so far, oh and also the Beastie Boys merch. ❤😊
@aprilscarl5010 at the very beginning when she shows her weather app you can see she is in State College. From there I'm not sure. Glad she finally joined us in Pa. Especially so close to where I am. It would be so cool to get to meet her in person.
@aprilscarl5010 oh okay. I'm from the Altoona area, 45 minutes from State College. She probably drove through or past my area to get to State College depending on which route she took. Maybe she is still in Pa. There may be hope for us yet, lol.
I had the same ideas, but yours are stated much better and more specific.
Well said
@CoastDreamz Thanks. Being warm and dry, being able to sleep soundly and easy access to power outlets at your fingertips are primary concerns for me. Then comes esthetic details of interior materials and colors. Best recommendations ever!
Wow thank you so much!!! 😭🩵
You're little girl looks like she is becoming more brave.

I'm happy you're giving Poe an upgrade. Since you spend so much time in your truck, you need to give yourself a few splurgy comforts!!
oh I was so excited thinking she was getting a new vehicle but since she isn’t, definitely needs a lot of upgrades!
Merry CHRISTmas to you all!

Fix the water leaks, add insulation, re design so the power banks don't have to be on the seat.

9) a shoe/boot/glove/sock dryer
10)a mount for and with an external Jerry/fuel can for extended and remote trips
11) star link service
12) CB radio for emergencies or just to chat with or get road condition updates from other drivers/truckers.
13) front bumper winch.
14) Seal and insulate your walls to save heat, hence fuel…Especially, that leak where Becca got soaked
15) A dedicated Crouton trash can.
Anyone, feel free to add or rip apart. Lol
Be safe Ria. A cheesesteak does sound good about now.

Something good happened in NJ after all...Happy Holidays to all!
Now that you have the awning, it would be cool to put your kitchen area on a slide out mechanism so you can pull it out and cook outside when you want.
Good idea! 👍
Yes I was thinking something like this too so she can actually stand up while she cooks without having to open the alu cab
UPGRADES! hell yeah that awning is sweet Poe deserves it
Thanks! Merry Christmas, I hope this can help a little.
Merry Christmas Maria, your a amazing young woman. Please stay safe and keep that joy in your heart.

Taz is really showing her personality! Love to see you two thriving. Have a wonderful Christmas 🎄 😊
And Poe is the baddest Poe to ever Poe!!! ❤❤❤
Can’t wait to see Poe , Taz, and you on your next adventure! And more videos with Becca and Skye! Happy New Year and hope you’re doing well!
Merry Christmas and watching from Portland Oregon.❤
Hello Rhea, I’m watching 4:59 AM Monday, December 23 getting ready for work. Good to see you.👍👍
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the build..seems like you need more storage space and kitchen set up. Love you n Taz.
Merry Christmas Maria and Taz and to Blue's memories ❤️ ❤
Yay, I’ve been waiting for you to post!!!
Maria, HOPE you & Tazzy Lou are doing good, Really Miss watching your videos! God watch over both of you keeping you guys safe & happy...😇🙏💕☀️🏕🌎🛣🚜🏞🗻🧭🏖🏜🏝
Agree! Croutons are useless in a salad. Too hard!! Good luck with the renovations to Poe. We'll all be waiting. Merry Christmas 🎅 🎄 ❤️
Now that’s an awning. Love it
Oh my goodness Taz is so freaking beautiful!!!!!!! She has grown so much and your relationship is incredible already!!!!!!
Yes! She has done an amazing job. That little dog is joyus
Your flip down table is brilliant. I’m going to add one to my build. Thanks 😊
I would insulate the walls and floor to help retain heat in the winter and keep it cooler in the summer.
Good luck with all that.😊
That is amazing of OK4WD
they're the best 😭🩵
I first saw your upgrade on OKFWD and girl I am totally stoked for you ❤ but seal the gaps you have in Poe especially where Becca got wet lol I cannot wait to see the upgrades.
Awning is awesome your dog is an angel!
Tazzy is starting to open up so cute and playfull. u are the best dog mom out there
They used to take the day old bread and make homemade croutons with them the next day at school. Best croutons I ever had.
They are amazing they do my service on my converted sprinter! Love ok4wd
Taz is so adorable.
Awesome too see a fellow Michigander from the Lake Michigan side doing so well! Love your videos merry Christmas!
Upgrade kitchen and a pull out drawer in back so u can also cook outside
Rin is Jason are literally the best people. I love camping with them .
Really great seals and insulation. Can you do heavy duty plastic instead of wood for easy spill clean up. Storage for your power bank and fridge etc installed to give you more easy access but also efficient room
Happy New Year, Maria ‼️ When are you coming back to your channel ? Miss you and Tazzie young ladies 💕
"Shall we make ... dinner?!"
Many dogs can, given time, pick up a few words; but they are all born knowing "dinner" and "walk" 😆
Also “treat”
Probably more likely that they can pick up closer to a few hundred with diligent and consistent training. Not sure if you’ve seen the videos where they use buttons, but there are usually a few dozen there, and ones being added all the time! I think dogs are capable of much more than we realize!
Thanks!
The Beastieeeee Booooooys , High plains drifter!!! Classic
GIRL, the HOOKED you ALL THE WAY UP! Hell yeah!
You and Becca make me laugh. 😆
Thank you! 💕🙏🏼
3:15 healthiest meal I've seen on this channel. As far as POE modifications, it's crazy to me at this point that you don't have a good sound system installed in the truck, with a head unit that has a large screen connected to Apple CarPlay so you can navigate your trips better and starlink.
Glad you’re finally looking happy again! You can now watch Friends in your bed with your new table! Get it girl!!😜💪💪💪
Love you so much Maria ❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥😍🔥 your so amazing beautiful keep up the awesome work. . I love watching your new vids. .
I so agree. I would make wider countertop for cooking and in thicker wood that you put on hinges so it can fold down and then you can pull a big bed out from under your bed for company! Wow. That was a LONG sentence 😊❤
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!! TO YOU AND TAZ!😂❤🎄🎄🎁🎋excellent vid!!!
No, you didn't just quote "High Plains Drifter" ❤ ❤Madd Respect!!!❤❤
I'd be getting those areas that leak fixed when it rains...
About TIME you upgrade your ride! Between Ms. Thang and your cooking..ya need to show Poe the love too😮
I think we are all in agreement that focusing on the insulation and leaks inside Poe are the first and foremost. We all just worry about you and Tazzy. Love the upgrades so far, oh and also the Beastie Boys merch. ❤😊
I'm glad your upgrading a little to make it a little more homie for you❤thanks for sharing
Yay! Finally my state!
Mine too ! Trying to figure out where she is. I’m not all the way through yet
@aprilscarl5010 at the very beginning when she shows her weather app you can see she is in State College. From there I'm not sure. Glad she finally joined us in Pa. Especially so close to where I am. It would be so cool to get to meet her in person.
@ cool, thanks. I’m in Whitehall (next to Allentown) it would be cool to meet here.
@aprilscarl5010 oh okay. I'm from the Altoona area, 45 minutes from State College. She probably drove through or past my area to get to State College depending on which route she took. Maybe she is still in Pa. There may be hope for us yet, lol.
I’d be getting a whole new rig! Time for an upgrade like your friend has!
Merry Christmas to you and Taz. ✨🎄🎅
