Dionysus monogram, love it. I wasn’t much of a fan of monograms before, but the color of Gucci’s monogram, when paired with beige suede, looks more subtle and elegant than other fashion houses’ monogram designs. *condup*

To me, the understated Gucci is more classic. I've always loved their soho range and I also love the tabby cat family on the display *condup*
*preluxscom* , whether it is the appearance or the interior, as long as you are not a long-term practitioner, you will never see any difference.
I agree on the Margaux bag. I purchased the Margaux 17 in February 28 and wore it only a handful of times and one side was denting inwards. While the other side was straight, it was a significant dent that you would see anytime I would put anything in it. It looked very wrinkly and would fold over. I got in touch with the row and they asked for videos and pictures which I submitted, and they said that indeed, my bag had a defect, I never asked for my money back. I just wanted another bag and they could not accommodate me which was very upsetting.
The luxury market is treating their products like fast fashion. When a luxury bag is "out" in a year or two, why on earth would I want to pay a luxury price point? I always go for *suluxs* , their quality is great.
Silver or any metallic material is very popular right now. Keep the silver Chanel. beautiful! I think metallic colors, like leopard print, are really pretty *condup*
Sadly the pandemic messed up with everything, not only the luxury brands. If you look back, H&M had good prices and you where able to buy a jeans for under 30€, nowadays isn't the case anymore and the prices are looking like those at Zara. In general the price increase in every aspect of our lives, is just insane. I live in Switzerland and it's known for not being a cheap country to live but now, girl it just blows my mind. Basically you work for just pay the bills and we don't have the same quality of life anymore.
I was thinking the same thing about Zara or even Ikea, everything has gone up so much. 🫠

Chanel - like you, I find their Deauvilles and clothing to not be worth it. At the same time, I love all of their shoes and silks. I do own a vintage CF and some other bags.
LV - I do have two of their pink Speedys and with an insert, they’re great.
Dior - I own a vintage Lady Dior and some patent wallets. I really like their use of color and want another bag.
Hermes - I don’t like the Constance either - the bag or the belt. But I love everything else.
Prada - I have a mix of vintage and new. I can see why a 25 year old would purchase the nylon one. I did when I was 25 but outgrew it quickly.

There is a very stark disconnect between the TH-cam videos complaining about Chanel versus what I see in the actual store. For example, it seems like from the videos (and the comments) that the price increases are putting off a lot of people. But whenever I walk in the store, it's packed. The registers are all busy, there's a line to get in, my SA has to put me on a list so security lets me in, it's crazy! Because of the videos/comments, I've checked the bags over and over but so far, I have never seen any bag with any quality issues. I hate that there are price increases, believe me, but I honestly feel like if there wasn't a booming market, if there wasn't a ton of new money from numerous sectors, who all have their eyes on luxury, then the increases wouldn't be happening. Chanel doesn't need to back up anything, because the demand for their name is literally out the door. Just my opinion, from my personal observation.
The TH-cam and handbag community is a very small percentage of people compared to the actual market Chanel caters to. Chanel will always have a line unless they pull a Balenciaga

Chanel always has a line and they will absolutely not care or suffer if a few complain on TH-cam, there’s definitely a lot of people that can afford and don’t even care about price increases, and also take into count the shopping tourism! So many people shop when travelling so here it’s always packed.
I think this is one of my favourites videos of you! Very informative and true. Its crazy what good marketing can do. I appreciate design and I agree it should be paid fairly but there is such a disengage between prices and quality, that sometimes it’s truly hard to look beyond the aesthetic of a product. What a lovely video! I really appreciate your insights. Thank you for being real with us -- there are so many people on social media who unbox all these new luxury items all the time and it feels so unrealistic.
I agree that the prices of bags and other luxury items has gotten outrageous. I am just starting my career and now make enough to comfortably spend $2000-$3000 on a handbag. When I was just beginning to fall in love with luxury items approximately 10-15 years ago, the vast majority of handbags were $3,000 or under (excluding Hermes Birkins and Kellys), and most bags that I was interested in were around the $1,500-$2,000 price point.
Now, $2,000 at Chanel gets you a wallet, and not even one with a chain.
I love the lady dior (similar to you I have the mini but in black ultramatte) but I purchased it pre-loved for around $2,500. I do agree with you that the lady dior does not retain its value on the pre-loved market, which is good for me because there are options available in my price point.
I went into the Hermes boutique for the first time (took my mother there for Mother's Day) and my mom purchased a picotin and I purchased for her a pair of Oasis shoes. Although the picotin was not my style, the price ($3500 USD for a size 22) was less than what I was expecting from Hermes. It seems crazy to me now that of all the luxury stores, Hermes is the one that is offering reasonable prices for what you get. Like you mentioned, the canvas deauville from Chanel is now almost $5,000, which is just silly.
I am sorry for the rude comments but I hope you do not let them get you down! I think your opinions are valid and I also think that you can own some luxury bags while also having the opinion that those bags now are not worth the price. This video is obviously intended to be your opinion and anyone who is commenting and telling you that your opinion is invalid is just being rude and it is completely unnecessary.

I find the row bags quality to be amazing - one of the only bags I am constantly touching the leather. The 90s bag is a great starting bag for ppl and it’s buttery soft. So amazing. I stopped wearing my other bags and go for my row bags now! I’ve heard Hermes quality leather is also really good and comparable.
I really really want to try one in person 😩 since we don’t have a boutique here and I have not been able to even see the bag that is not pictures I feel so so conflicted, many say it’s amazing and others that it’s not worth it. Chanel after Karl lost it. I am an avid Chanel, Hermes and Dior fan however now Hermes and Dior is the only brand that excites me. Hermes for the leather goods and Dior for some couture. If I want to go back to Chanel I would rather hunt down exotic pieces and vintage 24k plated caviar ones.

I agree with you on most of your takes, with the exception of the Prada bag. Yes they are nylon, but ask any woman who has these and they get used. The price per wear is probably the best of all the bags you listed and they are carefree. I have several (for 10+ years ago and they are still going strong.). Chanel is out of control and all I really go in for is to see the new SLGs and shoes (not that these are bargains, but in the luxury world not over the top in pricing.).

Outstanding video Lou! I recently started watching the Tanner leather guy videos where he breaks down bags. Your observations were on point. He reversed his views on Louis Vuitton after visiting the Paris store. He was impressed. The LV target market is women in 40’s +, that are brand loyal and spend a lot on skin care. I just bought the Speedy like yours but in a 30. The size fits my lifestyle and needs. It’s lightweight and if I spill on it no big deal. I liked your review on it that it was a go to bag for you and I was sold due to the durability. I have a Pochette from 2015. It cost me $70 USD! It’s in near mint condition after average use. The price tag for my recent purchase for the Damier Ebend Speedy B 30 was $2,000 USD purchased a month ago. I enjoy it and the price is outrageous but I love it’s a classic, the SA customer service, and they stand behind their product.I don’t own a Chanel and my next purchase will be a LV Nice Bb. YSL has poor quality like Chanel btw. Chanel’s new pricing model may not hurt their bottom line but people aren’t stupid. Nobody will pay for bad quality. Hermes will continue to dominate and upcoming “new” brands will increase in their sales. Thank you for posting this. P.S. My unlined Coach Bonnie Cashin from 1970s has incredible leather and crafting. But I’m not going to buy another Coach. It’s kinda pedestrian. My next brand I venture is yet tbd!

What is so crazy is my favorite luxury purchase was my Prada nylon backpack. It’s so strong and carefree. I love to wear black so it was just looked so nice.
I wish the prices didn’t go up so high. I have my neverful GM that I used all the time too. I used to have a lot of bags but only found a handful that I actually used all the time. I just wish I could find a Chanel mini or vintage that’s not over 4 or 5.

For me the fact that Constance has the buckle in the front turns me off a bit but particular technique that takes to make the bag and the amount of saddle stitches done on the bag (versus how much machine stitches are done on the main body of the bag) makes me admire the bag nonstop.

Vintage Chanel and pre COVID Chanel bags have beautiful leather, especially vintage lambskin/caviar Chanel. One of the best leathers , soft but sturdy!!

I gave up on the Chanel classic medium flap bag. $10k+ for that bag when it was half of that price about 5 years ago is insane. At the time I even though a $5k price tag for that bag is really high. I feel that any luxury bag (no matter what brand) isn't worth a 5 digit price tag. It's literally down payment for a car. I love designer bags, but I think the most expensive bag in my closet now is my Lady Dior and I bought it last year before their price increase. Now that it's $6k for their small, I also think I'm happy with mine and don't plan on buying another one. It's getting ridiculous.

Chanel mini with or without handle is the only classic style that I still buy😢 it fits the same amount as classic flap small and almost half the price now.
My while coco handle turned yellow around the stitching. They didn’t help me AT ALL. They took it for 3 months didn’t fix anything sent it back in even worse condition because it had scratches and stains. Such crap

I bought my bags Gucci and Louis Vuitton’s. In the 1980s But would not buy them again and I have not used them in years. I don’t want to use I like to look different than everyone else on the street. I have been using my Roberto Cavalli satchel on repeat. It looks great.

In the beginning of last year I fell in love with a mini lady Dior with pink crystals which was 5800 EUR. So I wanted to save for it, sadly it now costs over 8000 EUR it is just ridiculous. For now I just buy the birkins and Kelly, I kind of lost fun with buying bags...

With the Chanel prices and Hermès snobbery, it’s Dior for me! They have the history, the craftsmanship, the amazing customer service and a good price for quality ratio.
I've also wanted the Prada Nylon bags (2005 to be more specific) but I just can't justify the price. I wasn't able to buy it when it first came out. And now almost 1000€ for a nylon? No thanks. However I am looking into the leather version (2005) and that's something I can get on board with, even tho it's still a bit expensive. How do you feel about the leather version? 😀
OMG! I still have my Prada nylon bags from 20 yrs ago. Such a big hype then but cost only a few hundred, definitely can’t justify the price tag now😅
I agree with you on most things. Hermes quality is amazing. The fact there’s a bag spa is on a whole other level. When I had an issue with my flap they couldn’t do anything 🙄.
Dior quality is great! I have one from 2007 and someone spilled soda on it! Still good but I just wouldn’t buy current price because resell and value it holds isn’t great.
Not a fan of the row. I think it’s too trendy. No history of the brand yet and i do not think it should’ve been in the same category as other luxury houses.
LV speedy, I disagree 😅. I don’t have one. Never interested in it until now that I’m a mom and I need a good everyday, no fuss bag and LV comes to mind. It’s classic, price isn’t terrible. You can’t even get a WOC at chanel for that price anymore. I think it’s worth it. I don’t think capucines is worth it’s price
I have a deauville as a baby bag in beige. Cute. Love it. I don’t think it’s worth it though. I probably regret it a tiny bit😅. I should have gotten a leather chanel shopper tote or something or just another bag. I’m happy I have it tho. I don’t use it often

I love your mini Panthere but know you said before that you like yellow gold jewelry best. I have exactly the same problem! I considered the Panthere you have but went with the Baignoire in the end because it is in yellow gold. I love it! I got married recently and my jewelry is all gold so I wanted it to match. I cannot agree more. I’ve been a Chanel fan since I’m 11. I used to dream about buying myself a tweed set someday, watch all the runways but it really feels like Chanel lost its DNA. It’s still tweed and quilted bags and chains etc but the Colors, the shapes, the looks have absolutely nothing to do with how Gabrielle Chanel used to design her pieces. Hi, I need to say that in my experience Chanel has a much better customer service than Hermes. At Chanel everytime I get served with little to no waiting time and also I get something to drink. At Hermes they dont care that much (in my city). I only have 2 Chanel items (2.55 bag and small wallet). As of now no problem and everything going good. I had a scratch in my wallet but it disappeared with a « massage». I agree that when you go in Chanel you need to check the quality, but I do it anyways at any brand and any pricetag (it could be Hermes or Chanel or H&M)
I don’t know where Louis Vuitton got their hardware from. They are the worst quality. Sometimes I look at the zipper of my bags and I wonder if these are fake bags. I bought all of them from the Louis Vuitton store so they are definitely authentic. The quality of their hardware is really bad.😤

Hiii! first of all, thank you I see all your comments under this video 🥺🤍 as for the wave of people downsizing, selling everything and quitting on the luxury community I don’t think it will really achieve anything regarding prices, on the resale market possibly yes but I don’t think it will reflect of the brands.
Overall this is also a trend, and it’s a very sensational topic, I personally have been feeling like selling a few bags but it’s to try new things, new brands, new bags. Not really the urge to sell everything like we see others do. Yes things have changed from a few years and I feel people are less inclined to want to watch the same type of content and it makes you feel sometimes even ashamed of spending your money on such things, but everything comes around. 🤍🤍

3:10 isn’t justifiable, the price of a Birkin is $11400 x ?. The prespend is an engima, hence, Hermes B/K shall never be straightforward price comparison to other brands. The price tag of a B/K is a hoax all of us evidently know about. While Chanel and DIOR were transparently raising price tags Hermes is clandestinely raising the multiplier. The top of the list in reality is Hermes quota bags. Quality issues are at different levels with each of the houses but Chanel remains the top contender 🤣 and the rest far behind
Very very good point. I find it so fishy that Hermes is not consistent with the prespend or even their made up rules, I have such different experiences from country to country or even boutique and SA. But taking the "game" into count, yes, Hermès is on the top of this list.

I feel bad to say this, but chanel ready to wear is turning into overpriced zara, which is bizarre, I no longer feel inspired by their fashion shows and it just doesn't feel luxury anymore besides pricetag and branding. I'm putting my hand over the chanel logo and many times everything just seems boring once I do that. I'm so glad I bit the bullet and bought 2023 metiers d'art pieces as the only thing I'm interested now is just the classic fashion necklaces

I used to think that owning a luxury bag was an unattainable dream, until H Q D U P S told me that this dream is actually very close. The sense of fashion comes not only from the brand, but also from personal matching and attitude.
The Row bags are beautifully made l think. I will never buy Chanel.

As you, she’s a human being with emotions. But not as you, she’s kind.
That specific bag had quite a markup from the day it was released. Some bags from Chanel have always had a massive markup on the resale market like the rose gold, emerald iridescent green, the pearl bags etc… if you can’t find them at the store and you really want them it has always been the option you have. I’m not saying it’s normal, or that anyone should do it, it is my sole decision to do so.
Another thing is the brand increasing the prices bi annually in percentages that are just not justifiable to me. I have not purchased more Chanel classic flaps since then, the pearl mini as I explained was my one exception that I always dreamed of having.
I’m not saying I’m right or wrong it’s just two very different topics (Chanel prices increases - resale market for hard to find bags no matter the brand) it happens with everything even Taylor swift tickets

I’m not saying quality is crap, I’m saying they are not reflecting the quality with the pricing. Objectively we can’t compare Chanel to Hermes and they are on par right now. I have many Chanel bags that I adore and will always do.

It’s okay!! I’m genuinely curious as I looked back on my videos to check if I made a similar topic in recent months but the last one was more than 8 months ago with very different bags, so I wonder if it’s the specific bags mentioned or maybe if a lot of people are doing videos on the subject and that’s why it feels repetitive. I don’t take it in the wrong way as I really just want my content to be something to enjoy and relax to, and if it feels repetitive to her and she wants something in particular I really would love to know.
Doing two videos a week for 5 years and having topics sometimes gets hard to not fall into being repetitive
