You have to stop call luaun "subfloor.," it is confusing. That is DIY or homeowner terminology for it. We should call it what it is, Underlayment. Then when you say "Dont nail underlayment on top of underlayment" there will be no confusion.

I do some hobby woodworking in the winter time and I’ve always wanted one to break three-quarter inch plywood sheets down
Dude its so good, shaving doors, cuts for flush cut nosing, making 2×4s or 6s perfectly straight, uneven stair risers, the list goes on
Those Floors were covered to avoid asbestos abatement.

To remove the existing underlayment that is what I did. I cut in 2’-3’ strips.
Never crown staple carpet only tack it’s the worst thing to deal with with tear out
