I think the biggest downside of the Khaba (and this entire playstyle of farming gunboat DDs) is how incredibly low-impact they are on the outcome of the match, or rather that their impact takes much too long to be felt in most situations. Khaba may be extremely good at the role you described for her, but at the end of the day she is completely unable to play any other role than that one, and while she's hard to kill and definitely annoying, the "long range HE spamming DD" doesnt exert as much map pressure as an unspotted torp DD, doesn't force angles like a BB, and it doesn't have the same raw damage output as a cruiser. As such, even though you're likely to live a long time if you play it smart, you just can't kill enemies that fast even when you're constantly shooting them. Thus, in situations like your first game, even though you farmed a ton of fire and HE damage off of the BBs, they lived long enough to kill your teammates around you. And even though you did kill off the two DDs in your cap, the points from it had already been ticking in the enemies' favor for nearly 10 minutes by then. Put a high caliber player like yourself in nearly any other T10 ship in that scenario and I'm fairly certain you would have carried that game in the end (although this is just conjecture, to be fair). Also, to your points about Khaba maneuverability: you're absolutely right that at longer ranges, ships with longer reload than a few seconds are often wasting their time shooting a maneuverable gunboat DD if they're the only one focusing the target. However, even if the DD player is predictively dodging they're unlikely to escape completely unscathed if more than 2 people are focusing fire on them, and especially in a khaba they will get severely punished when they fail to dodge. This limits their effective map positions quite a bit: they need open water to maneuver, but they also need to be somewhere where they can isolate their targets. Such positioning definitely requires some creative thinking if they are to go anywhere other than the obvious left and right map border, and this also circles back to my first point in that their target selection in such positions are often low-priority and their damage is pretty low-impact unless they manage to start securing some kills. TLDR, I won't deny that these DDs do have a very hard-to-punish "free-damage-farm" playstyle, but even if the ships can rack up some impressive damage tallies from the %HP damage of fires, their impact on the match is often low unless they can contribute to some DD fights or actually secure kills.
Khaba is those type of ships where they affect little to the match outcome but is very good at farming damage. Surely great for those who want that Destroyer IV badge, not so for those who want to up their winrate.
Sorry i strongly disagree, and I am DD main. Khaba is very difficult and I am not even afraid of it in my Halland, not even in Shima. Any semi-competent BB will just nuke you at 10-14km! The fact that the enemy is not even trying to shoot back in your video speaks volumes about the skill roof on your server or could be pure co-incidence. Without legendary Khaba is nigh implayable on EU with the current CV meta and super accurate BBs and heavy cruisers.
@@tombaker2510 That would mean bora773 lost the argument the moment he wrote, bud. Khaba is incredibly hard to hit, that's what makes it good. Very enjoyable video. I love my Khabarovsk and learned new techniques from this. Most importantly to join capping DDs instead of trying to cap myself. Need to be less aggressive sometimes
I got a first blood yesterday blapping a Khaba in Thunderer. It was my first salvo of the match. One shot. That must have sucked, but the guy was racing in, got spotted and I got kinda lucky. Hadn't seen a Khaba in a long time btw.
I just got the Kharba today. The first few battles i took it out into battle was ranked. So far, between ranked and randoms i have won 7 out 0f 8 games in a row. I'm loving the ship. The torps suck and the detectability is through the roof but i can work with that. The guns and the armour plate is what makes this ship worthwhile. I know 8 games isn't much but its a good start
Yea I've been maining her this ranked season. 50 games with a 68% win rate. Now that she's been buffed with no longer taking full AP pens, she is so aggressive. So many Smaland's, Harugumo's, Halland's, and Kleber's have gotten cocky thinking they could take me (even when at low health) and the armor and 8 fast speed guns just shred any DDs that take her on. Even CVs have trouble hurting her cause the rocket planes hit the 50mm and do nothing and the torps are easily dodged. She's a fantastic ship that everyone seems to underestimate in ranked (and in randoms). So glad I got her.
@@tso4569 She is under-estimated, to the other guys cost. I'm currently trying to get the legendary module, for that extra range and firing rate. Then she'll be the terror i want her to be.
Thanks for all the info I play this game mostly on PS4 but the game play is similar. I’m trying to work on my positioning in all classes of ships. The info you put out in your videos is very helpful it’s much appreciated. I just recently subscribed to your channel keep up the good work.👍
Have you considered that you play those gun boats (Kleb, Khaba, etc) so well because you are so skilled in a Battleship? When I play Kleber, I have the toughest time getting 45 K dmge. Great video.
Insanely good? You are just nuts my friend. I have no idea how you dodge like that, my one simply does not move that way, are you sure you aren't using the acceleration mods instead of ruddershift?
It's a double ruddershift mod build. Who plays khaba with acceleration mod anyway. She moves like that if you have speed boost active and that special mod to make speed boost last 3 minutes.
It's better now when WG nerfed Venezia and CV a little. It was quite a struggle for kaba when french DD and Italian CAs were just out, considering the frequency you see them during those days in MM. It's sad to see that Kaba used to be the strongest gunboat but now, kind of the worst one...Love your videos though. It would be great if you could upload more commentaries on King of the seas
For me, French DDs not a problem in Khaba, they still can't penetrate the 50mm with HE after all. The biggest problem is the Italian CAs since they have SAP and so far they are the greatest counter to Khaba in general.
I gotta watch this. I am terrible in mine. I am almost done with a reset of the line and I have really enjoyed every ship so far. I completely changed all my stats in them. The only one I had difficulty getting wins with was the minsk. Every other ship was 57% and above win rate. I'm dreading playing the khaba though. I just could never get wins and struggled to avoid getting killed early from all the attention that comes your way.
It's way harder than the first game when it's only t10 and no one spots for you (besides your team loosing A somehow, at least dds in D were spotted, which is really unusual)
i dont think your frustration is with khaba specifically, but with HE and fire damage. personally i think fires should be 25%-50% less duration or damage overall, and HE damage needs to be 100%, or maybe just 75%, heal-able as well.
Wdym you think that CVs having armor is bad game design. I can smell the bias to over here. A carrier has basically a ROAD on the topside, supported by steel plates etc. The upside of a carrier is it's most durable side probably and the majority of shots were hitting there AND THEY WERE PENNING AND YOU ARE STILL COMPLAINING.
@@antoniohagopian213 has nothing to do with power/ton, daring has special engine acceleration properties. speed boost buffs acceleration and overall speed and since kleber has 20% boost it should be pretty good as well. Feel free to test it and prove me wrong.

Sometimes no hits easy dodges like the pro here and sometimes instant dead after some minutes...
I very much agree with buffing the rudder shift even just by 1 or 2 seconds. If you feel the range is too short, there is the option of using the legendary mod that can boost that up to 14.8km, but after doing so you get very anemic rudder shift.
Khaba isn't in a good place at all, especially in comparison to Kleber, which just powercrept her hard. The bad maneuvrability (at least the rudder), the torps, the armor, the smoke vs heal, etc. just don't make it feel adequate at tier 10 in my opinion. For everything Khaba can, there's another ship that can make it better, the shell velocity shouldn't be the only thing to make a ship stand out from its counterparts. A Marceau can spam way better against BBs and cruisers, can decelerate and accelerate way faster, has an enormous DPM and better torps, a better speedboost and way way better maneuvrability. Khaba isn't overpowered and just because you, "probably one of the best battleship players in this game" can do very well in it doesn't make it an attractive choice to all players but rather for a very low count of people.
The point wasn’t to say Khabarovsk is strong compared to the French dds. The point was to say even the “worst” gunboat dd is still insanely strong. And that in general dd’s are the most op class in the game (ignoring cvs cuz they don’t belong in the game).
I totally agree, I think I just simply misinterpreted your intentions in the video, sorry about that. I just wanted to say that it got powercrept hard and deserves a replacement or some buffs/rework.
