I honestly wasn’t sure that I liked this record, until I cranked that first track in my car. At high volume it just floored me. The spaghetti western interlude. So many dramatic parts throughout. It ends with melodic brilliance. Sometimes it’s hard to go back and find the catchy hooks because it’s long and scattered. You just have to let it play out as a soundtrack as you are living. And you can do good or evil by it.

Well I really enjoy this album and appreciate what they set out to do.

I dig Uncle Acid and Gialo so will check this out for sure. For those who enjoy this style of retro soundtrack-like music (does this genre have a name?), I would also recommend a band out of Northern California called Federale. They do a lot of spaghetti western style music, but also what I would consider more giallo style stuff on some albums. Really cool.

Karen, Davy and myself reviewed it on the Review Crew. My take was...You normally replay albums a lot more than you rewatch movies. And this is more like a movie (and about as long as one)...so it's not something I'll revisit all that much.

Jamie, thanks for reminding everyone this was on the Review Crew recently. Enjoying those episodes and trying to listen to what is reviewed. Reaction to his then was about the same.

One of my favorite albums of the year, and I'm not normally an UA&tDBs fan

Thanks for another new product episode, Pete. Listened to this after a recent SOT Review Crew episode with Jamie and the Crew. Definitely some on here that is enjoyable personally - the title track for example - though haven't relistened to since the Crew episode. A tad long but this could be an album for Sunday evening listening during the cooler months with shorter days. Appreciate the variety of bands and music discussed in the weekly new product episodes.

The music reminds me somewhat of Stelvio Cipriani, Bruno Nicolai and Piero Piccioni. I missed a female singer like Edda dell'Orso and some strong themes, otherwise I agree it is a cool idea.

This is without a doubt album of the year for me so far and definitely the album I've listened to the most this year. 5/5 stars from me.
I love the mix of heavy psych and 70s Italian prog in a giallo setting. I don't speak any Italian, but I think it is a beautiful language to listen to, so I even enjoy the spoken parts. I agree that it's an album to listen to from beginning to end in one go, and when you do, the more quiet, atmospheric parts also work well.
    Thanks for the review.

I`m a little late in getting into Uncle Acid, and so far like everything I`ve heard, but even though this sounds interesting, I doubt it`ll be the next one I pick up.

I liked the band at first but tired of them rather quickly. When they come up on my mixes I rapidly advance to the next group and song.

The album is inconsistent at least for me. There are some strong tracks, but the album contains several song/interludes I could do without. It's way too long.

Im confused as to what there is to like about this...two playthroughs and both times i sat there with a confused/frustrated look on my face. I dont know. Maybe im not in the right frame of mind. I like previous Uncle Acid albums but this one just seems like pretentious artsy for the sake of being artsy abstract art in music form.

It sounds like a soundtrack, which was the intent...it's the reason I don't listen to too many soundtracks.

@@seaoftranquilityprogThe older i get the longer it takes me to get on board when a band i know goes against the norm. Which is entirely my problem and i commend all bands who take chances wether they pay off or not.

  • @gwts1171
    @gwts1171 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I just cannot get into this band. I'm not sure why as I like all of the genres they touch on. Maybe it's because of all the hipsters I see wearing their shirts that makes me not want to give them much of a chance. I know it's petty. Oh, well. Thanks for the review, Pete!

Give them the name 3 songs quiz if you think they are posers.
