This game is going to be an absolute banger, but that's only if Blizzard don't make it always-online like D3 or stuff it to the tits with microtransactions like Hearthstone. I have VERY fond memories of playing this game all through my highschool days (as I'm sure many of you do too), and I'm looking forward to Blizzard not fucking this up hopefully. I don't want a repeat of *Warcraft 3 Refunded*
It's confirmed. Not always online you can play single player. You only need to register your game key once. And you are golden. Offline play

As Much as Nostalgia makes me happy I'm honestly more looking forward for the continuation of D universe story, what has me a little bit more interested in D4 are mainly 2 things :
1) I'm Really curious about Lilith motivations!
Hoping she isn't the generic antagonist but a more complex character instead : Remember, Her and Inarius rebelled against Hell&Heaven respectively stealing the World stone to create Sanctuary and the Nephilim which are considered their offsprings...
Since the worldstone's destruction in D2, Nephilims are reappearing (in D3 all possible Main character classes are) It's most likely we'll get to play as one of them in D4 again, and therefore, MAYBE, instead of trying to stop her, join her cause of stopping the Eternal conflict once and for all... how ? That is what I'm extremely curious to discover, HOPEFULLY !
2) I'm also really curious to know how the Lord of Terror himself shall manifest again this time, he is the reason behind the game's name after all, and is shown to be pretty cunning in his machinations... and how will it affect the upcoming events with Lilith in the picture aswell !

Yes, she is essentially the birth mother of humanity (via the Nephalem), but from what we can ascertain from her brief interaction with her "children", she has no love for humanity at all. Also, her intentions with Inarius were not pure at all. She was looking for a way to end the eternal conflict, that much is true. But she wanted to do so to her benefit, using the Nephalem as an army, nothing else.
Most of the relevant lore is from lore excerpts in Diablo 3 and the Book of Cain, as well as some novels. They might retcon some of that stuff. Wouldn't be the first time.
Anyways, I highly doubt we will see her as an ally, but who knows - maybe we will be surprised.
Overall, I do agree with your sentiment that I want to see a more fleshed out antagonist. The ones in Diablo 3 were just cartoon villains, the whole lot of them (with maybe the exception of Adria). It was, frankly, embarassing writing. I just hope that his time around they get people on board who know a thing or two about character design and story telling. One of the weakest elements of Diablo 3 - and that is saying something, given how many flaws that game has...

That is so hilarious. I remember it all. And after dying having to make the dreaded run-of-shame naked, alone and poor. Those dang electric beetles killed me before I even started the game! I hated those things.

They were not really common enemies and always used to come as minions. They as common enemies are annoying. But even as common enemies they appear way to frequently in act 2 imo

I played this game for 6 solid years. I was so disappointed with D3 when it came out. When D4 was announced, I gave in to nostalgia and started playing D2 LOD again and at this point have two accounts worth of characters again. I am really looking forward to D4 but when D2R comes out, I will definitely be buying it to add to my collection and to tie me over until D4 releases.
I thought Diablo 3 was good too but nothing will ever top this game. Diablo 2 set the bar so high at that time, it got everything right. The story, the characters, the music, the darkness, the mood, the grind for gear, all those pieces made it what it was. Gamers are connected to it emotionally because they spent so many hours playing it with friends. So many memories...

Bone Spear definitely needs improvment.
I agree. I also feel like the Sorceress's Lightning spell should be bigger (Mephisto casted it in this video I think). Again in the original it felt like a much more impactful spell.

eh but the gameplay was bad and the design was bad. Even good graphics can't save bad game design and bad item design lol. Maxing crit damage and doing same shitty rifts. No mercenaries, 4 person co op. Everything about d3 was way worst then the shitty colorful graphics. D3 was designed by a fucking moron lol

@@hardcodedgamer2265 Wrong. D2: Resurrected runs on Diablo 2's original engine with a modern Render-Technology on top of it. Beneath that fancy shmancy Remaster still runs the original game, which is why you'll be able to switch between new and old graphics whenever you want.

Man, it's been 20 years. I was 11 at that time and PCs were just becoming popular at that time in my town with Rental Shops. This was one of the first games I stumbled upon installed in those PC rental shops!

I already bought this on day 1. I have so much confidence in Vicarious Visions after all the games they remastered. FLAWLESS!!! Plus after Blizzconline showed the video footage of D2 Resurrected, I was awe-struck!!

D2 one of the very few games that has a superb implementation of a flail type weapon. I wonder how it's going to look in this.

Old mechanics of Diablo 2, old music of Diablo 1and graphic update from D2 resurrected is what we want. We just need some mory story, new areas to explore and new items for Diablo 4.

Back in the days when the only way that i can backup my character was to copy the .sav file to a square floppy disk. Damm can't believe it's been that long ago and i still haven't finish my hammerdin yet.

In the developer interview they said that they are not changing the games balance, including items. They are only adding a few new features to make the game experience less cumbersome.
@@Jerome616 If the game is successful i could see them branching out. back in the day there was talk of another expansion for d2 that just never happened. Im down for everything normal and then down the road adding to it. IE take the old school runescape route.

My only criticism is I wish it was more violent. When you kill Fallen in the original, they leave a streak of blood across the ground. Also, would have been cooler if the “Raise Skeleton” caused enemies to explode into a gory mess as the skeleton raised from the corpse. Game looks pretty though.

This is probably the biggest piece of gaming news for the next several years. Even now, old buddies on our former D2 guild forum are resurfacing after almost 20-25 years, like a call to arms. It's crazy.
New visuals are great but.. the classic D2 sounds are what I’m looking forward to the most lol.. the minions, potions, selling/buying things..
Disturbing thing is lack of music. I hope Uelmen's works will be heard in Resurrected version.

Wow...I really enjoy reading through the comments on this video...Every other D2 announcement/gameplay video half the comments are people bitching about the game...how it looks, changes being made, etc...People are never satisfied. This is literally what I wanted the D2 remake to be. The graphics are nice and it looks like it plays just as good as the original game.

This is the D3 that we've expected
I played this like 10 years ago and played it again in 2020 with all the characters and now this came out
I played with mods. I loved mods for this game. ZyEl was my mod of choice. I tried Median XL but it just didn't feel like Diablo anymore to me. I'm very happy they are supporting mods and really look forward to what's to come from the community!

Not really, because the remastered came years after Poe lol. The original title didn't have any textures or anything that would load in to be recognizable.
As the statement should be, "now I see where diablo 2 got its look from" because it looks like a copy and paste from path of exile regarding textures and graphics, what Poe has in common with the old d2, is that both are dark and grim.

Anyone of any version of the game laughed at this dude lol. With the 3 free respecs I usually max teleport as for my ladder reset groups I play the teleport sorc but yeah that hurt to see.
Reminds me of the old days when you couldn’t reset skills and would have to start a whole new toon.
@@Hubieee yes. You can reset your characters attributes and skill points for free 3 times after doing the den of evil in each difficulty. And then there is also 4 essences that drop from bosses in hell that you can cube together to make a little token you right click to reset your attributes and skills. It's amazing to not have to remake a character because your mouse decided to bug out and did a double click on a skill you wanted only one point.
you have to think, botting isn't going to be a thing anymore so supply will go down and demand will go up. This will definitely effect how skill points are dispersed
@@SuperZakaru why would anyone put more than one in there teleport skill? you only need one point. Unless I've been missing something.

I hoped they`ll expand inventory/stash. All that management was nightmare in original edition.
They said that the stash is bigger now and they added shared stash , so u dont need mules anymore
Based on MrLlamaSC's interview with the developers, I believe D2 Resurrected is basically a new skin for the same D2 engine. I think this is a huge plus - touching the engine can have dire consequences and I leave that up to the modders frankly... I just hope things like Plugy can still work. I think javing a nice visual experience with D2 is going to be great - I can finally read the number "5" without as much 6/8 confusion (my eyes are much older LOL) and the re-rendering looks amazing...

Overall this looks awesome! Only some small things I would like to see tweaked:
1. Running animation is a bit stiff
2. Skill Tree window looks a bit sterile
3. Stash/inventory windows look a bit too square/sterile and could use some less clear cut corners and edges

If this video is anything to go by, this is how you remaster a video game. You don't change the atmosphere, nerf gameplay, or change lore. I get butterflies watching the gameplay. I haven't been this excited since i got LOD and when i first got into wow. Imagine all the new players that will be experiencing the glory of diablo 2 just because of the modern graphics. i have faith it will hit goty.

Meteor falls terribly slowly (not the casting time but the actual visible part where you see it fall in your screen). Necro runs like a grand-pa. Bone spear does not look strong at all, not sure about bone armor look. The bosses look cool though.

It's not on Steam :) It will be launched on the Blizzard launcher. Just keep an eye out on the Blizzard launcher and you'll see when the game goes on pre-order. It won't be out for another year or so.

One thing that had me curious, the bonus dmg we get from skills, like skill X increases the damage of skill Y per lvl, does it make a difference when you increase the lvl of skill X?
For example, if I lvl skill X to 20 while skill Y is lvl 1, will I get the same final outcome as if I had lvled skill Y to 20 before lvling X to 20?
The final result with both skills at 20 will always be the same, but if you leveled fireball to 20 with 1 rank in meteor and say fire ball gives 12% bonus to meteor, your level 1 meteor will be 240% stronger than a level 1 meteor without any ranks in fireball. From there your meteor skill will scale in that way, so your level 2 meteor will be 240% stronger and so will level 3 and so on.
@@rockinbob9548 neat, was wondering if I would need to save points to invest them after the skill I want the bonus is lvled or if I could lvl the earlier skills without worry.

Diablo 2 almost ruined my life but this is literally the best decision Blizzard has made over the past decade. Too bad 95% of my time is now spent on stocks
Please be a good remaster. Already super hyped and hopeful but i hope it holds up and people stick around. (I think the 1.14d patch might hold it back). There was nothing like peak 1.08 and 1.09. Population was booming, hacking existed but not crazy and bots didn't rule the game.
D2 is an amazing game...but if an active playerbase exists, that is magnified so much
