He actually said, “He’s been t… detained.” I have wondered if what was on the tip of his tongue “tied up” or “tortured”. But I think he chose “detained” because the child was within earshot. He was trying to not upset the boy - but I think also he was being mindful that this would finally be a court case. He was choosing neutral and less emotive words so that nobody could say he was “leading” or influencing any testimony by the lad. The police these days usually have people specifically trained to interview children.

Children cannot give consent, and to be put in a cash cow position of intense scrutiny and shaming at any age prior to adulthood stifles normal identity and social development, and the effects of public humiliation are incalculable.
I won’t go into the issue of adults who pay every month to watch and enjoy-and even expect to see-this humiliation of young children, although I believe their behavior is sick. Many thanks to those viewers who “woke up” and started contacting the authorities with such diligence.

Given that all this crap went down in Utah, there's an elephant in the room that obviously _should_ be seriously investigated. But since it happened in the USA where churches - particularly politically powerful churches - are sacrosanct, it's safe to bet that nobody will investigate the role of the Mormon church in covering up the abuse. (Like why that judge never signed the search warrant which the cops needed in order to talk to the kids.)

This was my life from the age of 5, up to my 16th birthday. The only difference is that my experience was within the Jehovah's Witness religion. Although they had nothing to do with the abuse I and my siblings went through, they protected her for years. After I was rescued by the local sheriff's department she threatened my two siblings into staying with her and also convinced them into calling me a liar to the CPS. Back then CPS was more of a protection to parents than they were to the child victim, and I'm not sure that it is any better today. When I was finally able to escape the situation of my home life, my maternal birth parent in order to escape jail time, signed away her parental rights in court. I call her "Maternal Birth Parent," because in order to earn the title of "Mom or a Mother," there must be love shown to the children and other members of the family, she never showed any of that unless it benefited her in some way.

Why didn't the police confiscate all the phones, journals, tablets, and laptops that were left in Ruby's house that Shari was able to find? The second chance they had was when Shari had to return them to Kevin they still didn't confiscate them. Kevin needs to go to jail. Not once when his lawyer has been talking has he said Kevin is distraught wondering how his kids are just how wonderful of a father he is. It's all about him.

I'm guessing they were not in the original search warrant, and getting them through a third party (even one of their kids) taints the chain of custody on any evidence found within them. Defense could easily say they were tampered with.

Kevin is a good father he tries to get his older daughter arrested for collecting belongings for her siblings. Kevin has not seen his children for nearly 13 months. we have the fame-hungry lawyer. Well, their philosophy was to embrace the truth so therefore all of them should go to prison. I feel Jodi is a really nasty piece of work but I aslo feel so are the Franke's. I can't belvie any sane judge would give the children back to those parents. Kevin needs further investigation. The Mormon church does not come out well with this either.

I really think he was brainwashed into thinking he was evil and needed to stay away for his own good. He probably thought Shari was evil too as she got out first and Ruby had time to make her the bad guy. That's why the younger girls didn't want her picking them up. They were brainwashed into thinking she was bad.

She is not healed, or else she wouldn't be a part of thw rainbow cult. Yes, it is probably bred from trauma, but how can you say it's right? How can you people celebrate & call her brave? She's clearly a shell of a person that has latched onto this "identity" or lack thereof. There is much more pain in this woman's future.
P.S. nothing "wrong" with actual gay or trans people. Something very wrong with western culture promoting this. It is only broken people who think they are "non-binary".

This is why no kid will speak up. This is way too common. I grew up with a friend who was punished and returned home after reporting physical abuse and food withholding. Every child especially teens are just called problem children and sent home. It’s sick. They have to know whose kids go home to be hurt worse.

It's really hard to follow this story because my childhood was very much like this. No one would have ever known that things were hell on earth because we were either kept at home, clothes hid the signs, and were threatened not to say anything. You name it, it happened. Limited to no food, humiliation and ostracizing, no talking, wearing the same clothes all the time, siblings were told not to interact with you, physical abuse, etc. It reached every part of my life and even in adulthood, the repercussions still follow me like a shadow. My heart really goes out to the children. They will never be the same.
