Thanks for that. I can confirm that you do not have to keep the button depressed unless you are tracking and need continuous focus. Otherwise, for single shot you can press once and compose then press the shutter.

Yes Raoul you expressed very clearly, better than I can, why I have been using back button focus forever! Well done!

This is a great cure for the hair trigger front shutter release. The G9 is rich in custom settings.

Thank you. After your last video I changed to back button focus. Used it today and it took me a while to get used to the change, but will persevere.

Hi Mike, I’m sure you will adjust in no time, I still push the shutter button occasionally but with regular practice and use it will soon be second nature. 🙏👍

Yes, BBF has been a real godsend as the shutter as you know is very sensitive. It just feels more ergonomic in the have to acquire focus in this fashion.

Regarding peaking focus assist, the coloured dots are cusomisable too. I use green. Thanks for another great video.

Thanks, great and easy to understand video on the focus modes and BBF on the Panasonic G9. I use BBF as well, but do use it with the focus set to AFS/AFF sometimes, because you do miss out on the Pinpoint AF setting in this mode if you use just AFC

Enjoyed your presentation on BBF. It's what I use as well on my G9. Instead of Peaking I have Zebra 1 turned on. I have my upper front wheel ' assigned ' as my exposure compensation. This way I can cut back on areas that are blown out. I rarely use manual focus.

Thanks Ray, I’ve used Zebra on video quite a bit, will try it on photos too 👍

You can use Zebra and Peaking with other color together. I have combined setting AF+MF and found it very helpful to see the DOF.
Found with Zebra at 105% I have still a lot of details if shooting in RAW and the pictures are one stop underexposed if the warning apear.

@@JoZi.Berlin Thanks, I now have Zebra 1 @ 95% & Zebra 2 @ 105% - I'll try it out. Both Peaking & Zebra turned on. I've purchased Panisonic's larger eyecup. It helps with my glasses & also keeps my nose from touching the monitor & changing the focus point. Cheers. Ray

I use a battery grip on both my G85 and G9 this setup makes BBF so much better when shooting vertical.

Hello! Please advise, my g9 camera does not switch from AFS/AFF mode to AFC mode when I lower the slider and it says Switch to AFS on the screen, how to change it?
