Yeah but khabib and Conor was an exiting drama fight, but I think most people expected that khabib would go out there and just maul Conor and sure were there some fanboys who thought Conor had a chance of sleeping him? Ofc that will always be the case but this fight is different. You’ve got islam and khabib fans who think he will win easily or for sure and then you’ve got Charles fans who think otherwise but at the end of the day, unlike the khabib Conor matchup nobody really knows how this will play our. Both of these guys biggest strengths their opponent has the perfect counter skill. Islams wrestling Charles has world class bjj and lethaplll ground game, and same with Charles grappling, islam has great control. Charles has great stand up, very lethal in the clinch and at distance and islam has amazing striking defense so this fight could literally go either way and both guys have the skills to win this fight

Oliveira is more than a fighter. In my eyes, he's the most inspirational as well as exciting champion in the history of the UFC. Especially if you're aware of his background story. He's not just a champion, he's a hero in every sense of this word.
Dude fought 28 fights before he got a belt. And along the way set the record for submissions, Charles is a future hall of famer. He has the most heart I've seen in a champion, most champs fight safe to not lose their belt. Charles always goes forward!

@@tinyky2598 Thing is though that Khabib always went forward too, but he literally never got hurt, let alone dropped. Khabib was able to just walk down people and then charge in on them for the takedown and control them the whole fight seemingly with absolute ease. Charles walks forward for sure, but he gets Dropped, literally most of his fights he's getting rocked. Luck can only take you so far and one day very soon one of those shots that Charles keeps eating will land him with CTE (probably already has) and a knockout loss.

Oliveira going down and getting dropped then coming back to finish his opponent is what makes him exceptional! It’s what gives us all the adrenaline!

I can see it going either way, but the fact of the matter is Islam has to get through Charles striking BEFORE any grappling can take place and I just think that gives Charles the advantage. Islam got worked over by another tall lanky guy who threw a lot of knees in the Barnaoui fight. Albeit that was a long time ago I can see a similar thing happening.

I think this fight is going to be very interesting for MMA fans. Sambo (Islam) vs Jiu Jitsu (Charles) both fighters setting the golden standard of each art, practically displaying its definition at an elite level.
This is how I see it. Sambo requires significant strength for success. It's more brutal, blunt, upfront and intention-revealing. On the other hand, Jiu Jitsu is more defined. It is swift, calculated and enigmatic in approach. It identifies in movements the tiniest weakness to act on with minimal effort to impose maximum damage. Eventually after an Islam takedown, the ground is where it remains. Charles true strength shines in these area's. I'm not saying Islam loses the fight on the ground, but if he opts for ground game, every move has to be carefully considered.
Even then Charles ground game is so elite that his striking is underated. Islam can land but I'd love to see more of his striking, especially against the Top 5 of the LW.

That is a an important difference between Oliveria and a champ like Israel Adesanya, or how Jon Jones got. Israel and Jon got overly-tactical which still wins, but was significantly more boring. People are always going to gravitate to the champ that is willing to put himself in danger and still win. And while this is a sport, it’s also a business. Excitement matters
CTE matters also, which is something Jon Jones, Israel and Khabib & Makhachev are well aware of.

I`ve been watching mma since DAY 1 when they basically had no rules and this may be the most anticipated fight that i`ve ever known. I think that Islam is favoured at -170 but this fight is too tough to call. A true pickem fight.

What people are not acknowledging:
1. Charles has only been dropped because of his willingness to engage with constant forward pressure on ELITE STRIKERS. He could have easily played safe and relied on his Jiu Jitsu.
2. He wanted to prove a point - to strike against strikers.
3. Let's see what he does against an Elite grappler.
4. Charles does not engage in Grappling, he is an aggressive submission artist. And at that, he is numero Uno in MMA.
5. Islam has never been with a 'in the pocket fighter' like Charles.
6. Charles just needs one or two clean shots to finish Islam.
7. Islam is not Khabib. The centre of gravity is different. Khabib is built different, like Messi - their balance is elite.
8. Islam's chin has not been tested, Charles' has. Though Islam got knocked out once.
9. Charles is more entertaining to watch for fans who are not influenced by lineage.
10. Islam vs Ila T - Islam could not finish or dominate him. The decision was narrow. If given a chance again Ilia might do better.
11. Charles gets knocked down and comes back again and his last five fights were with killers. Islam fought non of them.
12. Islam is great at grappling but that's that, he is not very marketable.
He has always been fighting like this. He aint trying to prove a point, he is FORCED to. Not everyone is Floyd mayweather or Khabib that can make it look easy.

you know what fight would be insane? Oliveira vs Colby, or Oliveira vs Gilbert, I think both these fights would be some of the most insane fights we could ever see regardless of the result, both at 170 though, or 165(since both Gilbert and Colby can easily make 165 as far as I know).
