I seen these trains being built in bombardier Derby with the S stock and the class 378s. I had the privilege to drive these trains on the test track and I love the 2009 tube stock
I just love how well-designed and beautiful these trains are... Most metro systems have this ungodly wait between when the train stops/moves and when the doors open/close.

Boston has to be the worst example of when the train stops/moves and when the doors open/close. Each train waits four seconds after stopping to open the doors, and waits upwards of seven seconds to get going after the doors close.
Those new trains and upgraded train control makes station arrival-stop-depart process really efficient. Notice how the stop dead on the spot... no lining up required. In fact, they could only make it more efficient by allowing the doors to open below 2mph, similar to (I believe) Berlin's system which allows faster alighting.

The Piccadilly Line opened in 1906 and it was operated as a 1973 tube stock. Also, the Victoria Line has opened in 1968 and it was operated as a 2009 stock which came in June 30, 2011. Before it was a 2009 stock, it was a 1967 stock train.

@Sxlsty Not a Londoner But in NYC we have some terminus stations (Like Pelham Bay for the (6) 8 Aveune-14th Street for the (L) and 96-2nd Aveune for the (Q)) Trains can run at the same frequency just they have to leave almost immediately if one platform is already used It’s showed on the 7 Line however that might not be a good example since at Hudson yards there are several Miles of storage tracks with trains and a junction right before the station

I lived in the south west end in London for over 2 years, it was amazing compared to Toronto's transit system where I live, which actually is better then most cities in America/Canada and it's crap compared to what London has. Even tho South is a bunch of different networks.

that is not true for the 30 seconds, that is literally impossible and very dangerous, the trains have to be an appropriate distance apart. The shortest time is around 80 to 90 seconds which is one of the fastest in the world, and definitely the fastest in london!
If there were a 30-second headway between trains, it would mean that there are 120 trains per hour running on the line. Currently it only barely manages 36 trains per hour at peak times so it’s still a long way from being a 30-second line 😂
The trains stay at the station neearly for 30 seconds and if a train passes a red light because theres no train at the station it will turn yellow andnit causes crashes
Londoner here, these trains run every 1-2 mins in the peak, so overcrowding isnt usually too much of an issue, although the train does always get a bit full every now and then... Personally i think they are the best trains on the network, its the quickest way to get north/south very quickly, although there isnt much of a fast east/west route, central line the fastest but thats always absolutely packed. This is why london has the best tube system ok ive made my point and this proves it :P

yes, new trains are much smoother, but I prefer riding on the jubilee line which has the 1996 stock, and the northern line which has 1995 stock, but I also like these stocks from the piccadily line which is nice and classic, and 2009 which is a new stock.

Brixton looks weird now since it's refurbishment; the green and cream tiles on the platforms look rather nice, but you've still got the old two-tone grey on the far side, with blue relief. Good to see the "ton of bricks" motifs are still there..
Whatever happened to the piccadilly line? I can remember a time when these trains absolutely flew, with headways of 1-2 minutes. Now you wait all day for something that goes at walking speed
wl03bu but in Toronto its common, well it's actually the norm that trains come every 1-3 minutes throughout the day, it's not as if they are far apart. maybe every 4-6 minutes later at night. They are doing many signal construction (have been closing sections of the subway on weekends for seems like ages now) to squeeze more trains in to have trains running even closer to each other. If there was any complaint about Toronto's system it would just be that it's to small of a system for the size of the city.

Do you miss the 1967 Tube Stock? I was on it for the last day of service from Finsbury Park to Victoria when I was on holidays for a London visit. I like the 2009 stock as well, very fast, clean, modern and motor noises are perfect. I am from Sydney, Australia though.
Well the 2009 stock is faster and airconditioned so that's what makes it better than 1967 Tube Stock. I am from Sydney so I went to London for holidays and did research on London Underground. Once I found out the 67 stock was being withdrawn leaving 8 on the line I decided to catch the last one on its last day of service.
The 2009 is not airconditioned. The S Stock trains on the Metropolitan, Hammersmith & City, Circle and District Line are the first ever London Underground trains with air-conditioning.

Nice video and from 1:28 to 2:19 you got a 1967 stock which is 3 years younger than the MTA's R32 C J, & Z trains which first ran in 1964 regarding the 2009 stock they would be a cross of WMATA 5000 series and MTA's R142,142A & R188 R143,R160A R160B Siemens due to their acceleration and deceleration. Perhaps the MTA should use a British English style announcement by testing Sienna Miller on the 4,5, & 6 trains
+EpicThe112 That isn't a 1967 stock I'm afraid. It is a 1973 stock that runs on the Picadilly line and doesn't utilize ATO. The 1967 stock had ATO and was used on the Victoria line before they were replaced by the 2009 stocks you see here. They are no longer in service on any Underground line, but the 1972 is an almost exact replica of the 67 stock and is still used on the Bakerloo line to this day.

The Victoria Line is entirely underground on a public train, but if you are a driver and you head to the Northumberland Park depot you are going overground

The old Victoria lines are made in 1966 and they updated the staition in 1968. The end of the old Victoria line was in June 15 2012. The new Victoria lines were made in January 1st 2012.

when i was in london back in 2013,i really liked the subway system,however the one thing i didnt like is how theres no air conditione rin the trains,i know the city is very cold 9 months a year,but in 3 remaining ones its hell.plus the circle line sucked horribly,old trains that stopped n signalling every few seconds,but now its gotten new trains,so i guess its not as bad as back then.

In a way, yes it's better. It's more modernistic especially with Bond Street station. That don't mess around with time when it comes to trains and their new stock moving fast like it's nothing. We gotta do the same for NYC.

This is fixed now after they did work at Walthamstow Central. All trains go there now

The gaps between trains can be different, it varies on the Victoria line from 1-3 minutes
Walthamstow Central and Brixton get trains roughly every 30 secs but that’s because the platform are both southbound and northbound respectively

You mean 36 trains per hour. ATO isnt advanced enough for 36 second wait times. Most vic trains will arrive and depart in 80-95 seconds

You are so lucky to have trains follow one another so quickly. In Toronto our old signalling system doesn't allow for that.

No. It isn't a 67 stock.
The Piccadilly line uses the 73 stock, not the 67 stock.
We're there a mix of modern and old stock on the Victoria Line back then.

I think they're pretty equal, but there might be a small difference. The 09 stocks are actually slightly bigger than the other deep level tube stocks.

@@Great_WesternTVFan Yes, The stations on the Victoria Line that have sidings where trains can be parked are Walthamstow Central, Victoria, King's Cross St. Pancras, Brixton and some are parked during the night on the tracks out of Seven Sisters that lead to the depot.

Anyways, Tokyo is my favourite city because of its education system. I want to try it out next Christmas, Halloween, or Easter.

The old Victoria lines are made in 1966 and they updated the staition in 1968. The end of the old Victoria line was in June 15 2012. The new Victoria lines were made in January 1st 2012.
They were made in 2009 you dumb face. If they are made in 2012, they why were there some in 2010?? You stupid face. And the 1967 trains were gone in June 2011, then from August 2011, all trains are 2009 stocks

I love the victoria line trains
when i was in london back in 2013,i really liked the subway system,however the one thing i didnt like is how theres no air conditione rin the trains,i know the city is very cold 9 months a year,but in 3 remaining ones its hell.plus the circle line sucked horribly,old trains that stopped n signalling every few seconds,but now its gotten new trains,so i guess its not as bad as back then.
Well the circle line have new trains now and they have air conditioning

In a way, yes it's better. It's more modernistic especially with Bond Street station. That don't mess around with time when it comes to trains and their new stock
