@@TEKKENRAISED it doesn’t create issues with normal gameplay, thank goodness, but in comparison most special style combos deal only around half of the damage you could with a sample combo from the practice mode. Nah trust me, I've played every game since tk2. You don't wanna start with any other games than this. Of course there's legacy skills that carry over but this is the first game where the game actually teaches you how to play properly. Tekken 7 is similar but not the same. You'll just be confused. Almost all of the combos have been completely reworked. 8 is the way too go.
@@thejoekage9499do you play either games? Because that's not true at all. All the tornado attacks have been reworked, most characters have total different combo enders and wall finishers. Tekken 7 is useless now. New players should most definitely start with 8. Look up fighting gm and see what he says about being new to the game. Ask any pro and they'll tell you to start with 8.
@@WavyJayZ I never said start with 7, the guy i was replying too was talking about playing the older games. Tekken 8 has the best tutorials any fighting games ever had. Tekken has never been good for new comers trying to wrap their head around the game.
Been playing Tekken for nearly 25 years You just need to block more tbh, and learn what your meters and moves actually do to yourself and your opponents. You’ll immediately see improvement. T8 imo is one of the best Tekkens to date when it comes to very clearly telling you how its played in multiple ways. Also you may not have realized, but you kept turning SS and normal mode on and off, meaning you were constantly changing what your buttons do mid match. I’ve got faith in your journey bro.
Afro out here playing Tekken like it's Ninja Storm. I'd say to choose a character that you like and then spend some time learning their moves in practice mode before going into ranked since most players there are familiar with Tekken now
I didn't start tekken until 7 came out in my sophmore year of college. It took like a month and a few hours every day before I became apprentice level. I also go into training mode with the nicest feeling character I can find and don't leave until i download at least 10 into my brain. Idk what you be doing in the background cuz I don't use twitch assuming that's where you be chilling nowadays. TLDR you just gotta take a few days to feel like you worth something and see results imo
Triangle+ Square is ur grab. U can use it to reverse their grab. Definitely practice ur blocking for sure but good effort afro 🤘🏾 and welcome to tekken.
A really good way to learn any fighting game is practice not to mash buttons while you are getting hit. It's best to hold the back button to guard first and wait for the opponent to finish their attack, and then it's your turn to attack them. Also, watch out for low attacks and throws. Good thing you can tech normal throws with any punch button.
Don't let that discourage you. When I first played Tekken I was absolutely Garbo. But after time progress Claudio is now my main and he's untouchable. You got this man!

I genuinely think playing the old games helps you get acclimated to everything as mechanics grow and combos and offense gets crazier, even if you just do an arcade mode and play some versus with friends. Definitely recommend trying some of the old games
I think T7 plays the same as T8 aside from heat system, same song and dance, more barebones. Understanding frames, side stepping, and learning character matchups is very important.
@@WavyJayZ got a few videos on my channel from a year or so ago when i was playing more frequently so yeah i play the games..
Been playing Tekken for nearly 25 years
You just need to block more tbh, and learn what your meters and moves actually do to yourself and your opponents.
We all know how this gonna go 🤣
Afro out here playing Tekken like it's Ninja Storm. I'd say to choose a character that you like and then spend some time learning their moves in practice mode before going into ranked since most players there are familiar with Tekken now
You need to defend bro😂😂😂
The Specialty move set is great for beginners, but it limits the moves you can do, making you more predictable, can't wait to see the growth Afro!
Content like this is exactly why I stay subscribed to Afro😎
Now here's my question: who is everyone going to main?
learned 7 combos for hwoarang, lots of time spent training/arcade. How about you?
@@Yungin349 honestly, I'm a spectator; I don't have the console or PC specs to play T8
I've been a Lars and Lili main But I really want to pick up Reina for this game
@@ShirouBrando And I do not blame you
Don't care what anyone says. As a taekwondo person myself I'm out here with my boy Hwoarang
Im so happy he is playing this game-SIKE YOU THOUGHT WE HAVENT FORGOT AFRO U STILL GOTTA TWERK
You need a tutorial bro
Bro that is not your throw😂😂 regular grab is always punch+kick. You giving out bad info talking about "welcome to tekken" tryna set my boy up 😂😂😂
19:40 “lil majin give me strength” nah that took me out!!!!😂😂😂😂😂
11:11 you made a wish... it didn't happen, but god did I cry laughing. I love you sir
The fact that they started Afro at fighter using Special Style, but they started me a 1st Dan is triggering.
20:55 Afro wasn't try'n to see the KAZUYA SMOKE'!!! 😂😂😭😭💀💀
Afro I’m new to tekken also, but what I found that helps is pokes and small combos, then knowing the good moves and the move-set, then the big combos
Why lie to him like he don’t need training 🤷🏿♂️
@mickie5530 you right he was just holding back his skills for content 😭
Don't let that discourage you. When I first played Tekken I was absolutely Garbo. But after time progress Claudio is now my main and he's untouchable. You got this man!
