The vinyl will not stick as well to any oil or waxy surface. Use a little rubbing alcohol to clean the area where the decal will be applied. If you're applying the decal to glass, DO NOT use Windex or other ammonia-based cleaners; the ammonia interferes with the adhesive.
Use this method only if the back of the decal is white. If the back is gray, use only the dry method. The gray afhesive indicates that the decal is cast vinyl with air channels that prevent bubbles when installing. If you use a wet methid on a decal with a gray backing, the decal will fail.

I worked for a company at one time and I had to apply large and small decals to various pieces of equipment. I found that any type of "Non-Ammonia", liquid window cleaner, worked great.
I worked making fibre glass water tanks and each one had 3 big stickers 7ft at least and it was hardest in high wind . Washing up liquid is the magic ingredient
We put these stickers on 25 of our side-by-sides and they get power washed every single day and they don’t come off. They also see mud and lots of water out on the trails, our four hour tour has 30 Creek crossings. So these stickers, see a ton of water, mud sun And they don’t come off.
Exactly right, I used to have an off-road vehicle and would apply badges to my back window of trails that I had done. Works flawlessly. Gives you pleanty of time to set it. Some decal companies have actually started including the squeegee with the decals.
I do hazmat placards on overseas intermodal containers. Will this work for those sticky back placards? Cause what ive been doing is foaming glass clearner(sprayway brand) chean and dry area with a terrycloth towl then i spray 3M Super 77 spray glue then i set the placard and use the damp terry cloth towel to smooth out the bubbles. They MUST be square on point si ill use a black magic marker and the placard itsself to scribe a 45°line to get it 12oclock 6 oclock On point.

There’s a product called RITE ON that professional body shop and lettering companies use that is best and the finish results are flawless I personally have used both methods and would purchase the RITE ON

Can someone explain how the decal adhesive isn't effected by the soapy water? My guestimate would be this would definitely weaken the bond to some degree.
No it doesn’t, you’ll push the soapy water out when you squeegee the decal. We put them on our side-by-side rental fleet. They’re in mud & water every day and they get power washed every day as well. We need to use a heat gun just to get the decals off when we get new units every six months.

That works with nearly any decal. It's how we put the huge Screaming Chicken decals on the hoods of Trans Ams back in the 80s. 😂

Use glass cleaner it leaves less residue behind the sticker. This also works with vinyl transfer decals. Good tip, keep them coming.
Same for tint. Baby shampoo works really good. Like a capful for a gallon of water.

Slightly soapy water, barely soapy. Like 8 drops of dawn dishwasher soap in the spray bottle. Don't use to much soap.

I’ve seen so many different ratios, the experts have commented and said 2-3 drops of Dawn, or baby shampoo is perfect.

I guess I take things for granted . This is how we've done it forever, but if you know, you know .
Use blue colored soap (dawn, etc) so it won't turn orange tint. If sticker has clear background.

I would've never tried it, I thought the soapy water would dissolve the glue leaving the sticker useless.
People use windex as well. You put it on and once it dries you need a heat gun to take it off. 👍🏼
