There are folks who are extremely uncomfortable voting for candidates like Mark Robinson and Donald Trump. Cheney's endorsement was timed perfectly, especially considering our state is beginning the voting process.

Don't agree with Liz politically but my respect for her as a person went up further with this. I remember learning about the Electoral College system of electing the president back in high school civics class (when such was taught) back in the 60s. I thought it was ridiculous then and I still do. It needs to be gotten rid of so each citizen can be assured that their vote counts equally regardless of state and that the person who gets the most votes takes the office of president. The Electoral College system has instilled a great deal of voter apathy among citizens as in many states they know their vote won't make a difference or will count less than someone's in another state. That isn't helping the country find the best person for president. It's how we wind up with some really embarrassing people in office.

The Electoral College had a purpose when people mostly lived in tiny towns that took a week to travel to through the endless forests. LC 'thinking deeply' about this was not her being on the fence. It was all about the most important thing in comedy-Timing. She knew if she endorsed earlier, it might wane before election day, and if she endorsed later, it would look like she had been on the fence, and it would not be good to endorse after mail-in ballots begin in less than 2 weeks. So her timing was strategic. She was going to endorse all along. She likely would have endorsed President Biden if he were still a candidate.

I remember learning about the Electoral College system of electing the president back in high school civics class (when such was taught) back in the 60s. I thought it was ridiculous then and I still do. It needs to be gotten rid of so each citizen can be assured that their vote counts equally regardless of state and that the person who gets the most votes takes the office of president. The Electoral College system has instilled a great deal of voter apathy among citizens as in many states they know their vote won't make a difference or will count less than someone's in another state. That isn't helping the country find the best person for president. It's how we wind up with some really embarrassing people in office.

The Electoral College had a purpose when people mostly lived in tiny towns that took a week to travel to through the endless forests. If you chose one guy to take all the votes to the Capital and submit them it was basically the only way to decide the election in less than months.
