Our Prophet SAW did it by his words and actions. He forgave his blood thirsty tyrant enemies when he had full control over them. History bears no witness to show such benevolence from any commander, king or leader except Prophet Muhammad SAW. After him, people showed mercy to their combatant enemies following his great example, his great companion Umar at the conquest of Jerusalem, Salahuddin Ayyubi at the conquest of Jerusalem, Sultan Fatih at the conquest of Constantinople and many more. May Allah make us follow our beloved Prophet SAW in every aspect of life, be it war or peace. Aameen.
