- WOOHOO!!! It's OKA pick up day and we are taking you guys along for the ride. It's a day that our family has been looking forward to for such a long time. There's plenty of excitement, chats about life and good feels in this episode, but nothing is ever easy and we are dealt some shocking news that we did not see coming!!

That’s so amazing to hear! We are so happy to be back… we’re filming the whole truck build but want to just get it done so getting eps out will be delayed! Karstan put a tight timeline of 3 weeks on finishing it but we will have to see - it’s not easy with kids 😄 stay tuned

I drove an OKA for twelve months for a tour company. I hope they have made some huge improvements from those early
1990 models. They had huge maintenance issues. Starter motors burning out due to heat from the close by exhaust pipe, drive shaft from engine to remote fitted transfer case, continual spring breakage due to the length of them, even the overhead air conditioning would always spray the driver every time you went around a tight corner.
I wish you lots of luck with your purchase. As an after though. The OKA would run on the smell of an oil rag and at the end of the day the seats were so comfortable you could wake up away feeling fresh and not be tired. Good luck and safe travelling.

Check to see if it’s cheaper to register in Victoria or Queensland.
In 2007 my new off road caravan was $18 to reg in Victoria $120 in Queensland and $ 3500 in N.S,W. $380 was the rego and the rest was stamp duty

We met you guys in Kalgoorlie in January last year and the excitement you had back then having ordered the OKA was awesome. It must be the biggest relief ever to get this thing in your hands. Congratulations on both Zina and the OKA. We head off on Monday to finish our lap of Australia from here in Perth and with any luck we'll see you on the road again. Best of luck with the new beast.................... and the OKA! 😂

after watching some of your old youtubes I can't believe you were able to go where you did in the old VW. I had one for a few years and couldn't keep it repaired!!
We’ve had them for years!! Constant maintenance is required - but they are very capable and awesome vehicles!! So proud of where we have taken our Kombi!!!

Wow , congratulations on the delivery of your Oka . Seems ages since we met you at Woolies in Esperance February last year and you told us about the baby news and the Oka news and now all has come to fruition . Our experience in an Oka was the mail run from Cooper Pedy to William Creek , to Oodnadatta and back to Cooper Pedy , delivering the mail to 5 stations . Seated 12 . An awesome experience so can only imagine what experiences you are going to have in the future in your new vehicle .

I'm 76, American, have driven the entire perimeter of Australia, raised 2 boys as a single dad, many adventures on the road. You're doing the right thing, with your family. Happy supportive wife makes it. Some day the $14k will be behind you. Can't let it keep you poor on the road.

Man that would suck waiting all that time for it to be built so you guys could travel again and getting told you have to pay that much for rego. I hope you guys don't have too many more hurdles before you guys can get on the road again good luck with your next adventure I hope to see you out there
A) What is the extra cost for CTIS ?
B) Need sound deadening/heat insulation for interior of vehicle (Carbulders/Dynamat) imo.
C) Is there any possibility of upgrading door windows to power windows at this stage of vehicle build ?
Also keep engine immobiliser key separately from key bunch given or else it will bend due to the weight of other keys.
AUD 13,000 is too much for registration. Compare how much you have had to pay if it’s a Isuzu NPS 4X4 75/155

Im glad to see yall back on the YT with new videos. Zuri is about a year younger than my granddaughter so we used to enjoy getting to see her swim and explore. Now we will get to see her and her little sis Zena enjoy all that Australia has to offer.
The OKA is amazing by the way. Out of curiosity i went to the NSW website that helps you figure out your stamp duty costs. Either thats a $411,000 vehicle or I dont understand Aussie math

@@vxdrew Its one hell of a vehicle for that lifestyle. It must have taken alot of long talks to make the decision on buying it. If it were my family I too would want something that capable to trust our lives too.

I believe the stamp duty calculated is incorrect. What are the RTA classifying your truck as? It would be great if I could contact you direct and explain what went through with our truck. We were originally quoted $28k!! We ended up paying $6800.

Yess usually we do have cards with us but on this occasion we didn’t!! But the other issue was we needed to move around money online using our phones!! 😆😆

@@KarstanAndMaxine its great yous are back, watched lots of other channels but none of them are as good as yous are, glad your keeping the combi its your trademark really, we call newcastle brown ale newky, newcastle upon tyne gets its name from the castle which was built nearly 2,000 years ago, they had to rebuild the castle and they put new in front of it which gave its name newcastle, to pronounce its name proper is ne castle the w is silent

Ok you should have registered it in W.A, you would have saved heaps it is on the rover system . All you would have needed is a certification certificate of measurment.
How much did you pay ol mate to go for a drive.
Now the fuel system. With no lght in switch small tank right hsnd side. With light on in switch big tank left hand side.
When red light in fuel gauge shows you have about 40 km unless going down hill then change tanks straight away
Fuel guage works to the tank that you are using.
If you run a tank out of fuel change the switch and prime from the tank with fuel ⛽️. It takes about 10 minutes to prime.
As for no elctric windows door locks ,well they are just something to fail.
By a BMW if you need a lot of buttons to play with
The RTA is a rort, just transferred a cheap car over and there’s a 34$ charge for premium white plates that are already on the car, why?

That's one mean machine enjoy guys, what engine is it using? If it's a Cummins you have a top class reliable unit.
Oka is based in O'Connor in WA so you have it trucked to NSW where you are? OKA for me are under-powered and torqued, and a bit old-school in tech plus as you can see from the video at 13:40 it's very noisy at full revs at highway speed.
