Marcelo's genius extends beyond Jiu-jitsu in that he is an incredible teacher. His ability to explain things in a way that's fun and interesting is amazing. He provides some great detail here AND the vibe that is the real essence of Jiu-jitsu. Kudos to Professor Faria for having the insight to bring us these gems, too. 🙏🤙

When I'm training, i have learned to put my second hand on their shoulder and push. As I move back as far as I can, and also push the shoulder, it gives an extra amount of instant pain. I’m a small guy, like Marcelo compared to my teammates I roll with. I find the North South is my go to submission, this quick snatch n release, then snatch again should help my game as I’ve always find them defending it either with their chin and just stalling. I’ll try this sneaky quick release. 🤙

Same thing, I've been studying his game since I started training in 2005 and have had lots of success with many of his techniques both in training and competition.

I am just getting into BJJ and honestly it is life changing. Seriously, go try it if you haven't! I always dreaded the gym, but I almost always can't wait for jiu jitsu. It makes working out fun. And I was like "I am a giant softie I'm gonna be intimidated as fuck around all these badass MMA fighters." Nope. Nicest and most encouraging people ever. I'm trying to get my north south down better cuz it's like the only thing I know from side control right now 😂
Best take away is dont train your strength on a machine. Just practice technique. Even if you are not stacked, just enjoy the sport . Good technique doesn't require strength except at the highest level. Thanks for this video, I learned this as a white belt and it was successful to the point of not knowing the details of finishing but so close....
