Thank you Starsky for coming by the booth and digging the sampling Groove! We are giving you 35 seconds at full bandwidth 48KHz and will be adding all the reduced rates from the PPG and other samplers. Sample through the input, or bring in whatever wav file you want. Lower bit depths as well. You can do up to 8 multi-samples across the keyboard for each patch. And you always have 4 parts available at any time, so 8 times 4 multi-samples if you want. Kurt's Amen break has 8 slices. Free update for existing owners and now a big new way of making sound in addition to what the 3rd Wave already does!
I’m using this synth live on Sarah McLachlans FTE 30 tour….its an incredible sounding and very capable synthesizer. Worth every Penny!….Sampling will be amazing.
Love Bob's energy. So awesome that they're implementing this. Really hope they get the 8 bit/12 bit options in there. Also wish the video would have went into more detail about how the file management works and all that.
Hi is this a sample per key? IE multi sample? Or one sample stretched across the keyboard per instance of multi timbrility? Either way a great addition. Thanks.
@@StarskyCarr Oh man. Wasent I talking to you just 6 hours ago about the 3rd wave. Another Insomniac. eeek Thanks for the info. Thats really great. Im from the days of the Akais where it was one or two samples an octave anyhow.
Come on boys, reduced bit sampling! 8/12 (13) bit is where the haunting character of the OG technology was. Seems like a software tweak would allow this additional feature. Bob specifically stated that they wanted to add the PPG Waveterm capability, hence this neat feature-add...well the reason we love that Waveterm vibe is because the original Waveterm was 8-bit and has a certain lo-fi character that adds emotion. Thank you for adding sampling! Locked 16-bit isn't something I'd use. I'd just use a DAW. Rather, sampling 8/12 bit real world foley that breaks up when scaled down and layered beneath the wonderful timbres the 3rd already delivers, would be delicious.
Can't one just export 8 bit samples from a DAW as 16 bit files? Will retain the character that way. Although these demo samples had plenty of character. Awesome addition.
@@defenderstargate1447 Definitely, but that'd be extra steps. A synth this flexible and designed with the PPG ecosystem in mind should be able to do it by itself. Hopefully it's a feature they'll add soon.
"Baaaaaabayyyy... life's what you make itttt...." If you can bring this closer to a workstation, I might consider this as a "flagship' synth, I could see this being a match for the Fantom, etc.
Not to sound greedy on the heels of a new feature announcement, but one thing that could more or less make this the definitive synth of this nature would be to be able to do what Ensoniq did with transwaves, i.e. build wavetables of waves that are more than a single cycle long. I'll grant there may not be a HUGE use case for it (no one has really done it since, to my knowledge), but the bones are there to make it happen in this synth. You could modernize the Fizmo here.
You can already direct sample into a 64 position wave table. Unless I'm misunderstanding you. You can already spread a long sample across an entire table (not just single cycles). Unless you mean more than a cycle PER wave position? I didn't own a FIZMO/ASR unfortunately, so maybe that's how they worked. Never looked into it much other than knowing I liked the sound. :)
@@DrJ3RK8 Looking back now myself, even I was a bit off; my interpretation was always that transwaves were like wavetables where each table index could hold a sample longer than a single wave cycle, however upon re-reading it appears in reality it was more like long-sample waves where each "index" of the table could be defined by different lengths and start points. The result in practice though basically sounds like a wavetable where each index can be longer than a single cycle waveform. I see many people making comparisons to a sort of precursor to granular synthesis when I search around. In all honesty though, if the 3rd Wave isn't already capable of doing this, it sounds like it would actually be much easier to implement as it is closer to just real-time sample playback adjustments rather than building an entire framework around wavetables where each index is longer than a single cycle, then having to make it so people can build those tables out and not have to worry about wave interpolation while sweeping those tables.
35 seconds of sampling is a nice extra but claiming that it goes beyond the Waveterm is a bold statement, to put it nicely. The Waveterm could do a lot more than sampling.
I heard it can do multi-sampling.I want to know details…. such as: can it do multiple velocity-switched layers? If so, how many layers? can you map multi-samples across ranges of notes? Will it automate multi sampling instruments, similar to Sample Robot and 1010music’s Tangerine? What is the onboard storage capacity for multi-sampled instruments? I hope it has the auto-multi-sampling capabilities found in 1010music’s Tangerine, allowing me easily sample, my hardware and software based instruments. IMHO, this would make 3rd Wave unbeatable, especially given its stellar performance in all other areas and its full support for MPE.

Was introduced to her with the her Delirium collaboration ’Silence’.. OMG! What a track. She probably hates it now 😂
"Life's What You Make It" ❤
an example of the kind of music that drew me to synths in the first place
OMG this is a game changing for me. Hope to see more video about this update
That first sample choice is so fucking good
Goddamn! I didn’t expect this what an awesome update.

Yeah he’s full of irrepressible energy beans. I’ll go into more depth myself when I’ve got the updates
Yes!! 🤗
the question is, does it slice and map the samples?
Dayum, Bob...!
OMG! That’s awesome! 🔥🔥
Is it possible to save/load patches with associated samples to/from USB flash drive?

I think he says up to 8 across the keyboard.

Screaming when the amen kicked in!!! Junglist massive!
SuperBob has been doing some serious knob bashing judging by his thumb bandage...
Were can i find the firmware, 1.8 is not in there site

Nice!

Match for Blofeld maybe, for lawyers. Blofeld for dentists 😂
So now it's a goddamn '80s sampler. Makes me kinda pissed Waldorf used a really poor SoC in M and this isn't possible on my machine.
90's sampler. 80's samplers were 8/12 (13) bit. THIS would have been preferred.

Does it actually sample or „just“ work with file transfer?
It actually samples
@@deutsch4205 Great, thanks!
Yeah I’m assuming it will.. you could already create wavetables using its audio input.
Digging the shirt tbh lol
