Born in Portsmouth. Lived there 50s-63. Family worked the waterfront (seafood). Attended Westhaven school. Remember Doc Murden's Pharmacy, Mid-City Shopping Center, Moseberth's Fried Chicken, Circle Drive-in, Airline Blvd., Commodore theatre, Christmas lights across High Street, memories! (Next time get Queen Street)! Thanks!!
You are largely seeing the Olde Town section of Portsmouth - the historic area is very upscale compared to much of Portsmouth which is very low income (the Portsmouth Blvd and Frederick Blvd at the end), and has a number of problems such as crime and corruption.
Me my wife and sons are vacationing in Virginia we were gonna go to port until my wife read that the crime rate was really bad idk I haven’t seen anything
I have pictures of my great grandmother as a little girl and great great grandparents in the front yard of a late Victorian house on High St. circa 1910…..yea long ago. Landscape changes ….
Haven't gone home in a while. I can see some recent changes such as the new apartments in a few locations and they've removed the confederate statue on Court street. Nice to see this video.
My Grandma lived on London blvd. I lived with her when I was 3 yrs. Last time I was there was in 1980. I love the big flats. Thank you! Memories.
I was born in Portsmouth General Hospital in ‘69. My grandparents started Norfolk County Feed and Seed in 1947 and my uncle is running it today.
It's been many years since I've been back to my home town. Thank you for posting this.

Hey there! Glad to see you’re in the area again. Come on back to VB but away from the oceanfront next time.
What other parts of VA Beach do you recommend?
VB is always 'under construction,'
The Gothic churches and string traffic lights are so beautiful to see. Would love to see if the trees blossom in spring and change colors in fall.???
