Congrats! One very good method I was taught: Each party puts in an agreed percentage into a joint account (i.e. each person puts in what they can afford). The joint account will be used for everything for the family (household, holidays, etc).
I only had lunch at a Teocheow restaurant, 5 tables at about $400-500 each, and good food including one WHOLE roast suckling pig for EACH table, not those pathetic dishes served by hotel, in total i only spend < 3K for the lunch + ROM, another 3K for wedding photos, (note that was 10 years ago) and i can now semi retired at 48
Same. I had mine at Swatow. Less than $60 per head. Most guests are so used to $200-300 Ang Paos so they gladly gave at least $100. Plus the food was better than most hotels. Safra is an option too. Was so frustrating listening to the talk about alternatives to hotels without any mention of restaurants.
great ep! M24 here just getting into adult-life things and a lot of the things shared by john was very insightful in order to manage my finances better, in hopes of being able to lead a healthier adulthood and make more responsible choices down the road for me and my partner
I think John couldve afforded the renovation? He has investments etc but he just didnt want to liquidate. Whereas for loans, i think there's no need to approach the banks because i feel it's very unnecessary to pay the interests amount. I wouldve asked around the people i know if they have spare cash and could lend me a certain amount, then i will propose to them my payback scheme that is convenient and acceptable to both parties. If still need extra then approach the banks. Loan interest is something that i feel is super unworthy.
17:33 - I am on the fence on the 'everyone who loves you' sentence. It sounded cringe. I do not think I ever go to a friend's wedding because I love them. I like them as friends, and that is about it. Love is a stretch.
SG food ok nia Many countries set F&B business in SG change the taste to adapt for SG lang not 100% authentic liao Going oversea is to venture on their authentic food that’s why usually we feel that the taste there in the origin place CMI loh. Congratulations Shermz ❤

Thank you!! Ahh good point on using percentage instead of a fixed value

Alison's sharing at the end. She seems to be the life of the party. Low key but waiting for her to talk and laugh at the end.
