I was worried a little that the good constable might not make an appearance in this one, but greatly relieved to see that that fine officer did ultimately show up to restore law and order! Is there any truth to the rumor that Mr. Hibbert---having heard of the Asian dish Birds-Nest Soup ---had prepared (but accidentally left at home) his own delicacy along, er, "similar" lines, namely Cat-Box Stew? (I'd also heard that, as the owner of a number of chickens---warm-bottomed ones at that--he --had considered entering his chicken-beak pie and his chopped feathers and hard-boiled eggs-au natural surprise. True?) (Thank you so much!! Always a treat to have these tales to listen (an re-listen) to every Christmas! All best, good wishes for the new year!

I had never heard of this case, Bob - but having just looked it up, I am now familiar with it. It does sound fascinating, but I note that she is still alive... That presents problems!

In Peru, they eat guinea pigs. I'm not sure if a guinea pig is a rodent or not, though.
