Yeah, he's not my favorite but I have a real soft spot for Goose especially and Mira (my starters, been playing since early June this year) He's staying until I can get his photo (: and I'm in no rush!
I like seeing everyone’s different opinions on villagers. There’s literally a villager for everyone , that’s why there is 300+ . Some of mine we’re rated low. 🤯 I respect it though!

Marty is S tier for me since he forged his own driver's license and is not afraid to tell it to people.
My sweet boy Papi, is the only "horse villager" I like. He's designed like an Okapi, Ryan! An actual animal 😄 👏

Long time lurker here, about Del's design (it may already have been said): his japanese name is Yamato. So not an airplane or a submarine but a battleship (from WWII but also a reference to Leiji Matsumoto's anime: Space Battleship Yamato, Star Blazers in the US)

papi is an okapi but they are endagered so i understand not knowing about them, marcel is a mime based on marcel marceu from a long time ago and as you are modern i undersand not knowing the old stuff still entertaining keep going!
Actually, Marcel’s design is based on a Japanese tradtional mask design. It’s only because animal crossing is westernized that they named him after a mime to assimilate him. This is evident in his clothing and house designs, which have always been traditional-Japanese themed

Celia needs more love. I know this might seem overdramatic but I actually cried when I moved her out. I was just trying to collect photos so once she gave me hers I moved someone else in... and I regret it to this day. I have her amiibo but I really wish I could still have my old Celia back with my max friendship points again. She was so sweet and her design is gorgeous.

This! I feel this so much!!! Chops was horrible! My Bestie got Boomer from my island on accident. Literally a month later I ended up with her Chops so we both had villagers from our islands that we disliked lol.

chadder us actually one of my favorites because despite people hating him, his face is in a stupid area, i like his personality, and his concept is hilarious.

Cheri is pronounced as "Sherry", not cherry like the fruit. Not sure why I have the need to let you know, but I do. Lol
I think you had an overall good analysis of what makes a villager "good!" I do have some comments though LOL... come ON, Ellie deserves to be up in A with Molly and Maple. Same cuteness level, same color scheme and cute blushing, AND her pink tail looks like a little strawberry. Also, Reneigh the horse is incredibly distinct... she is one of the few "darker" villagers, but has striking pink hair, piercings, and ombre blue hooves... Even if it isn't your thing, DEFINITELY deserves at LEAST a B or an A imo. I do think you actually mixed up the pictures for the two Renee/Reneigh villagers though (you said "and now for the HORSE Reneigh, C" when the rhino Renee picture was showing). Overall, great job! Those are just my thoughts lol. (P.S: Literally considering on getting Jitters JUST so I can imagine him being hyped on 15 cups of coffee as well).

A for Raymond and Marshal is fair honestly, I'm glad you made a fair judgment and didn't put him low cause of the overhype he gets. I love Raymond a lot, I would consider him my S tier villager along with Maddie.
Raymond became my favorite because he is so different compared to the other cats( I didn't know he was popular at the time). He is a comfort character for me because I lost a greyish cat to health problems when I was little and idk he just grew on me fast.
Maddie really grew on me because before New Horizons, my dog passed away suddenly in September of 2019 from health problems, it was such a hard time in my life and I was not ok for months. She was one of my first villagers and my only dog villager, so she along with Raymond became my comfort.
I did the math for you… S - 14 (ranked villagers) totaling 4% A - 43 (ranked villagers) totaling 11% B -103 (ranked villagers) totaling 26% C - 173 (ranked villagers) totaling 44% D - 60 (ranked villagers) totaling 15% F - 0 0%
When graphed that makes a bell curve near B, C, and D meaning that it’s more than likely that if they were to add more villagers they would be in that rating group (assuming everyone rates it the same) that doesn’t mean that there can’t be S and A group additional villagers. It’s just showing that the average rating score for these villagers and the expected rating for new ones lies in these 3 ( B, C, D) rates.

Maybe it's because I'm a designer myself but I actually think most villagers have pretty smart and interesting designs, some are just more obvious than others but most of them I wouldn't call "generic". I guess some of them also make more sense in the Japanese version...
Tabby and Pippy are S tier for me. Genji deserves his own category so he's an S+ ... haven't seen the guy since Wild World maybe one day I'll get him back

I have Canberra since the beginning of my island and shes adorable :( she has a line where she says something like "why is everyone so surprised that I like makeup" in such a sad way it made me love her, also the wave animation when you leave their houses is so cute it makes me love everyone

I’m actually glad not a lot of people love certain ones I do. I like being unique and the fact they don’t want them on their island is kinda nice 😂 BUT ever since I saw Lolly from another TH-camr, I knew I had to have her. So I have her Amiibo and she is never leaving. She’s my absolute favorite of all time. Especially when she’s dancing or wears winter hats 🥰

Marshal is A for me despite being my favorite villager, almost ever.
(Besides Purrl, Lolly, and Raymond because they are literally the iconic cat breed trio. You cannot have NOT seen a Tabby, calico, and Tux together at the same time. It’s impossible. They must be together.)
It’s mostly because nothing besides his name matches his fluffy marshmallow design.
It just makes him feel less put together.

I think you should have considered their names more like Cyd means punk and he has a punk aesthetic with the nails painted and a mohawk, I know this is a personal list but is weird how you pick and choose when a design is interesting (like dotty is too simple to be that much interesting then a lot of the d villager)

Bob is my only dream team villager so far. I don't know a lot of the villagers, but I have a bit of a bias towards Lazy villagers it seems.
EDIT: Forgot to mention that it also helps that Bob constantly looks like he's about to drive to Taco Bell for some munchies.
In my opinion u should not have put Julian and Apollo in C tier but it is your preference. But I will take Antonio, Raymond, Merengue, Tangy, Stitches, Maple, Erik, and Apple.
