  • MY SOCIAL ANXIETY STORY & BEING INTROVERTED. This video is basically just my story of dealing with social anxiety and mental illness. I hope it can help any of you in any way. Also I apologise for this video not being structured great. It was hard video to make and get everything across the way I wanted to. Thanks for watching.

I'm so glad your social anxiety left when you came out and you feel like you can be yourself now. So happy for you Kevin. I have anxiety, I have had it for years but I finally visited my doctors last year and got placed on medication. Now I can commute to university and not have a panic attack getting on the train and gradually my life is getting better. For anyone who's scared to visit the doctor who's reading this, it is the scariest decision but the best decision you will ever make I promise x

I relate. I'm so introverted, I'm totally fine with just chilling at home and not hanging out with anyone. I'm kind of reversed, I was an extravert and now I'm more of an introvert. Love you, Kevin!!

You are so brave for making this video! Thanks for spreading awareness about social anxiety :) Can definitely relate to this, with anxiety and feeling like you have to go to any college course. I don't think people who don't have mental health struggles don't realise it can have physical symptoms. I think it's extroverted people get their energy from being around people, whereas introverted get their energy from alone time. They can enjoy being out but need time afterwards on their own.

I've had social anxiety since I was 17, diagnosed at 19 and started on medication for general anxiety at 21. I really liked hearing about your experience as I related a *lot.* So many people just think that I'm lazy when I don't follow through with plans, when really it's my anxiety won't let me get dressed, never mind leave the house lol.
The points system is a sham. It's made to be such a major deal and feels like the be-all and end-all as we spend so much of our lives in school and around teachers who are pushing us to overwork ourselves. I think there should be some sort of mandatory gap year where students just do work experience or work on themselves, completely away from education (not even in school, like TY is). Kids need to see that school is not everything, points are not everything and the Leaving Cert does not define your future.
I usually hate nights out in clubs. Every few months I feel the need to go out as I've forgotten how much I hate it and everyone else seems to be going out and loving it so I feel like I'm wasting my youth. I'll be there for like five minutes, and I'll think "okay, I need a drink so I have something to hold in my hands." Then it's "okay time to dance I guess even though this music sucks and I don't know how to dance and I can't dance to this and OH LOOK SO MANY PEOPLE TO JUDGE ME." Half an hour later "I'm getting tired and bored and there are people everywhere and I hate this entire experience. When does this get fun??" An hour later "guyyyys can we nOt jUsT GO geT FOOOOOD?" And then finally, the next morning I wake up and think "I cannot believe I bothered to do my makeup, leave the house and SPEND MONEY on that," (although I don't drink so it's mainly just taxi fare.)
Therapy helped me quite a bit to stop assuming everyone was judging me. Realistically, lots of people are worrying that you're judging them when we're all consumed with thoughts of ourselves. We are silly.
Glad to hear your social anxiety is basically non-existent now. Definitely sounds like the major stress of denying your identity was a trigger. At least you'll know for the future in case it comes back that it's triggered by some form of stress. :)
lol nice little novel for you there, but I really did love this video! x

Thank you much for sharing your story. I really hope you are feeling much better! Yes I can relate so much to everything you said about the nights out in clubs, I use to always feel the need to get myself drunk in order for me to ignore the thoughts in my head and to ignore judgement. But that of course was never a good idea and not sensible and I'm glad I no longer do that. Thank you so much for watching and commenting ❤️❤️

I rarely ever comment on a video but thank you for sharing your experience with anxiety. I have anxiety as well and I can relate to so much of what you said. I'm starting college in the fall and I'm nervous about being able to handle it. I'm glad you're doing better now.

Aw thank you for commenting. I really hope college goes well for you, my advice would be to not do anything that you think would trigger your anxiety and just surround yourself with good people in college.

The LC is so stupid, it gets everyone so worked up. The amount of times my friends had meltdowns about it and CAO stuff was ridiculous. It's silly putting so much stress students.
I didn't realise you took a gap year and skipped TY. Fair play to ye for going to Galway to give that course a go; I'd never be able to move away from my family. It would be too stressful. I can see why that situation would make you anxious.
    Glad your doing better 😊

Awww Kev! I just wanted to give you a hug the whole time I was watching this. I hope we clicked when we met. Even if it was just for a minute or two. I myself am a ambivert (50% extrovert 50% introvert.) So some days I want to party. Other days I just don't want to talk to anyone. So I know how you feel at times. I came out when I was 13-16 with people. So I can't imagine your stress as an adult. My anxiety has been bad lately. I don't know what I am doing with my life anymore and no one cares about my TH-cam videos lol. But life goes on. I will always be a friend to you when you need someone. Even if I am thousands of miles away. P.S. 1.) I love your shirt. I can not stop staring at it. P.S. 2.) what does the note above your Patrick Ness books say? XOXO Izzy.

Aw I send hugs back to you! Ehm we did click but I feel like since I've came out we've clicked way more because I can be myself around you, even if it is just through messages or snapchats. I could tell you were openly gay when I met you and I wanted to be like you so I sort of was shy around you just because I was like "Omg he'll know I'm gay too" 😂 I hope that makes sense to you and doesn't offend you at all coz I'm obviously not trying to! But omg I love your videos so don't worry! Also yes you are a friend and it sucks we live so far away!! Ehm I got that shirt in H&M in California actually haha! Ehm it just says "Irish Reader" my friends sister really loves my videos and drew it for me and I love it ❤️
