I was reading the comments and realised that people do actually give Rohan the credit he deserves. This is surprisingly satisfying because mostly i hear people saying that he doesn't have a sense of humor and that he is yet another previlaged guy from south bombay. I really started appreciating him after watching him being the judge at QUEENS OF comedy. I love the way he looks at things and the way he keeps it real. Check out his Insta.
The worst bit is people who really need to hear (and introspect from) this podcast would neither bother clicking an hour+ long video nor would they actually listen with an open mind... Rohan Joshi, a request: start your own podcast (you are very open about what your biases are and a good listener - in my opinion, fantastic qualities of a podcast host)...
Rohan is talking about the jain and gujju cartel in south mumbai. Me being a jain, most people of my community are extremely close minded and extremists with anything to do with meat.
Yes. They are cheeky little fuckers who make entire society follow their dietary restrictions and in turn are making non Jains and non gujjus leave the area. It's annoying and frustrating.
Daniel, once again an amazing podcast. Loved it. Thank you for bringing in Rohan Joshi - he is a profiling speaker. And thank you for introducing Sharul to me. The thing is - in nature survival depends on feasting on other living things - it can be plants, animals or both. That’s how nature made us. Period.
Religious elements ruining the cause against animal abuse and sustainability. Not surprisingly, Rohan knows quiet a lot so he offered no justification for his diet. Daniel's justification was his upbringing and Sharul's justification was freedom of choice. Good to see them discussing about it.
I want to know how Rohan is so sorted. After talking about him been blamed for sexual harassment falsely, he so promptly and earnestly says that it would take 50 thousand women to stand up for people to believe. Love him.
It's so good to have a voice like Roham Joshi's. I need him to speak more often about more stuff. AND I NEED TO WATCH HIM LIVE FUCK MY FRIENDS THEY KEEP CANCELLING AND FUCK MY SCHEDULE FOR NOT LETTING ME DECIDE ON OTHER DAYS AND UGH. But yeah, I love Rohan Joshi, I think I gots a crush on hims for a while now but the non creepy crush where I don't even have him on Snapchat and I don't really watch his stories over and over. I have a sane crush on him. You know? Where I'm like oh,okay, this guy is cool and a really good listener and I've not seen/heard/met anyone who recognizes the differences in people on so many levels and respects and acknowledges that as much he does. The crazy part is I wouldn't mind hanging out with him and his girlfriend because ugh I need cool people to hang out with, pleej, thank you. Who am I even talking to? Lol anyway, you get my point, v good podcast, that BoTcast with mojorojo was really good too
Reposting this from the episode with Anuvab Pal and Shilpa Rathnam. I don't eat rice simply because I don't like it. I haven't eaten it since I had a say in what I ate at the age of 5 and I'm 26 now. Same for mangoes. I simply don't like them. When people first find out I get the same reaction that I get when I tell non vegetarians that I'm vegetarian. I think part of it stems from genuine shock and disbelief that you don't eat the staple bliss that is rice or the magical food that is a mango. I get asked to try eating rice with the same intensity (probably more) as I get asked to try chicken. The difference however is with the questioning that follows about being a vegetarian. Its attributable to the fact that in India food preferences are also influenced by religion and family. A lot of times being a vegetarian is not your choice. A lot of times people hide the fact that they eat non vegetarian outside of their home. And this is an issue exclusive to Indians. So now when I get asked about my food choices with all the questions that follow somewhere I am also being judged for how progressive and open minded my family and I are. Vegetarian cause you are Hindu? (No. Cause I don't like it ) Vegetarian cause your family doesn't allow it? (My dad and my brothers eat all kinds of non vegetarian) So your mom isn't allowed to eat cause she is a female? ( No she doesn't eat cause she believes in being a vegetarian and also cause she is religious. She can't imagine that this piece of food was alive) Can you eat at home? (Yes, but you can't cook on the stove cause it's worshipped every year. You can put it in the oven and microwave though. ) Does she sit with you when your brothers and father eat? (Yes she does. Cause she also happens to be a sane woman who knows each person's choice and belief can differ even within a family of 5) So I believe the questions that follow about your religion are partially to know if that has influenced or forced you in any way. And as far as the relationships not working because of food preferences goes, it is still an issue in today's day and age because we still marry into a house. Nuclear families and live in relationships make up a small percentage of our demographic. If a non vegetarian is marrying into a strict conservative vegetarian family, it is a problem. They aren't going to be accepting about your food preferences. I even know of families who won't eat at places that serve non vegetarian simply because they do believe that it's wrong to harm another living animal and by eating even vegetarian food at that place you'll be supporting someone who commits the sin of slaughter. And that's fair. But then it's upto the person to decide if they can live the rest of their life with eating only at vegetarian places with their partner. And a breakup wouldn't surprise me cause it's a huge part of your life. Similarly for renting out an apartment, by letting it out to someone who is a non vegetarian, they believe they become a partner in the sin of slaughter, which again I feel is fair. But that is for the owner of the house or decide What I don't agree with at all is the direct association housing society committees make with people who eat non vegetarian with their values or 'sanskariness'. Especially if you are supposed to be a vegetarian by caste and you don't follow it. As they do with being a bachelor, being in the entertainment industry, being a girl who stays out late, someone who smokes etc etc So the whole vegetarian non vegetarian discussion is more prevalent in India that abroad simply because there are so many layers to it. No one asks me about the rice cause it's obvious I don't eat it cause I don't like it. Me being a vegetarian however can be because of one out of multiple reasons.
The point that you mentioned about tourists in Goa cooking their food and eating anywhere on the road, happens when Indians travel to other countries/ other cities too. The "pure vegetarian" community, when they travel they take a cook with them because they can't eat the food there (mostly because they can't distinguish between non veg and veg). Also, I am not blaming any society/community, it's just an observation.
There's a lot of people here who have been commenting that this podcast is not getting the right kind of audience that it is made for... The people who should actually listen to this (and probably learn something) would never do that and so this podcast has become some sort of an echo chamber withing a fairly liberal (left-leaning) educated bourgeoise which basically defeats the whole purpose of such rational podcasts.. So here's what I think: YES IT IS TRUE.. That those who would listen to such podcasts are essentially people like US.. already (intellectually and morally) developed young people and therefore IT IS UPON US TO PERPETUATE OUR MORALITIES IN OUR EVERYDAY LIVES.. Today with the advent of RSS we have a shrinking and a niche group of people who still believe that Secularism and Fraternity should prevail in our country and thus, whenever we see anything (remotely) otherwise happening around us (in our homes, schools, colleges, offices and streets), we need to stand together (in solidarity) AGAINST IT.. And try to EDUCATE THOSE WHO WOULD NEVER CONSUME THIS KIND OF CONTENT...It's important to consistently fight against chauvinism, patriarchy, homophobia, Islamophobia, etc at the grassroot level and hence contribute towards a more TOLERANT AND INCLUSIVE SOCIETY.. THE PURPOSE OF THESE PODCASTS IS NOT RESTRICTED TO LIKE AND COMMENT ON THEM, BUT INCORPORATE OUR COMMON VALUES IN OUR MOST MUNDANE ACTIVITIES AND ALWAYS PUT OUR BACK AGAINST THE WALL WHEN WE COME ACROSS ANY KIND OF INJUSTICE. Take for example the RSS (who have been working for decades) which has millions of members toiling every day for Fascism and guess what they have (somewhat) succeeded.

So its absolutely a choice of food fascism thing based on smell. Weird.

Daniel's ''wtf is happening'' face at 1:10:50 is epic...:D. Great topics chosen but felt that the discussions got quite side tracked from them. However, Haryana uncle was a really funny story to hear..:D
Really liked Rohan's perspective on things . He's intelligent and articulate . Sharul however , contributed nothing to the podcast (other than the uncle stories ) in my opinion . She sounded bored and/or stoned 😅
Vegetarianism issue is mostly related to jains..they literally live in ghettos and given it is a huge business class and have capital employed (many developers and builders themselves are jains)...the issues and discrimination isn't necessarily against the Muslims but just their overall apprehension against meat eaters.
18:04 That's a generalisation. While people do discriminate against Muslims while giving houses but if a person don't want meat to be made in his house he/she should be allowed to do so and also shouldn't be ridiculed for doing it as it is a personal choice.
Suyash Awasthi With the same amount of personal freedom that is given to one for denying a renter who wants to cook meat, the same freedom is also extended to another person wishing to criticize that opinion too!

True Story - I recently went to a cultural show in LA, it was a Indian themed show with cultural programs in many Indian languages. A family of 6 (3 men, 2 women and a kid) comes and sits beside me and they are loud mouthed as hell, constant bickering, speaking loudly with the kid jumping around one chair to other, they have 6 foot long tripod and camera which they have installed in the front of one the seat because of which the people behind them cannot see at all. One top of that they are passing cheap comments on the performances that are going on , any dance in Telegu Tamil or south Indian languages and they are like "Abey yaar , yeh sab kya bakwaas hai ? Hindi mein kyon nahi karte yeh log" , it gets so loud at one point that other people tell them to keep it down, they get even louder, the organizers call the security and they are escorted out by the ushers , still babbling the whole time. From their accent I can tell they are from the North, most likely Delhi or Punjab., I'm also from Delhi and I don't understand this attitude / entitlement at all. I have lived in Delhi for 20+ years, in Pune and Bangalore for about 8+ years. And I have seen this kind of behavior many times specially from people up north and rhetoric that "Hum toh aise hi hain - tujhe jo karna hai karle" This is also one of the reasons North Indians are detested in other states specially down south. So that comment from the minister is not just pissing in the wind....
I understand that India has its flaws and we need to fix them, but I feel like your show gives off the vibe of bashing on it. There are so many positives going on and I rarely see you discuss them. I would love it if you would do that!
This was an alright podcast. Sharul was not great and did not contribute much to the discussion. It could have been so much better. Rohan was so clear on his views about all the headlines, whereas Sharul just brought in random points, some of which did not make much sense. I feel you can maybe ask your guests if they would prefer to talk about a news headline, or a comment they received. I felt even in Previous videos, people did not participate much or did not have a strong views. You could do one of each so it's balanced. But I love the concept of the videos!!
I can listen to Rohan Joshi speak all day long.
You started it and you should never stop it.
Binati Sheth True. They r very happy watching those clickbait videos in trending section.
Wish we had podcasts of this level at GCET :D
Not gonna happen until Soni Sir's there... Attendance for the win :P
Not being an ass but Rohan and AIB do their own podcast
they haven't done one in a while - i should have phrased the request fittingly
Whenever rohan speaks, my gmat verbal scores shoot up!
Sach me bhai
Nikal laude, pehli fursat may nikal
❤
Rohan Joshi should start a podcast.
He did. You should check it out.
Where
Rohan is talking about the jain and gujju cartel in south mumbai. Me being a jain, most people of my community are extremely close minded and extremists with anything to do with meat.
gujju cartel hahahahahhahahha sorry to ignore everything else you said but it was to damn funny.
Yes. They are cheeky little fuckers who make entire society follow their dietary restrictions and in turn are making non Jains and non gujjus leave the area. It's annoying and frustrating.
Just try to get a room in the muslim ghettos if you're a non-muslim. It's the worst.
Rohan is a jain??
Rohan Joshi can make a good podcast host. I think he should do something about it.
I had a great time listening to him.
If i get dollar every-time Rohan say "YA YA YA" in affirmation, i would be a millionaire.
Daniel, Great podcast though.
Rohan is like the most articulate person whose vocabulary is amazing 😍 also great podcast!😊
Daniel, once again an amazing podcast. Loved it.

When I listen to Rohan speak, I add at least two words to my vocabulary
About the vegetarianism being used to discriminate is spot on.
I love the way Rohan talks
Rohan has his shit sorted. I would love to read columns by him and if he starts a podcast, that's even better.
Rohan speaks really well and Sharul is funny
And how subtle Rohan is when he wants people to notice he has lost weight! Lol!
Rohan's sentence formation though
Invite Kriti Sanon and discuss Nepotism..Oh wait, this is not that podcast.
Priyank I am surprised Giridhar ain't here
Hum sab andar se Giridhar hai dost.
Plz give some context for this repetitive joke
Do you even SnG bro?
Lol! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
I want to know how Rohan is so sorted. After talking about him been blamed for sexual harassment falsely, he so promptly and earnestly says that it would take 50 thousand women to stand up for people to believe. Love him.
Karan: "In America..."
Sharul: "So, in Singapore..."
Sharul is like the female version of Karan Talwar.
Karan doesn't say America , he always says "states"
Love how the big question references are coming up in these comments haha
Because America is Continent and States is Country and United States of America is fucking big name to say so he says states :D
FYI she is Singaporean
When is haryanvi hancock releasing ?
Sashi tharoor was rohans english teacher😁😁😁
Rafeeq Mohammed *Shashi Tharoor

That cake on Sharul's plate is tempting af.
"I want to spit all the time. I would never swallow." I died laughing!!
Yeyee...! Was waiting for Rohan...
The comment section is basically "Rohan Joshi Fan Club".
"Shashi Tharoor of AIB" describes Rohan best
Good topics, Rohan and Daniel were amazing. Sharul talking to Rohan was like Rakhi Sawant debating with Shashi Tharoor.
😂😂
It's a privilege to listen to Rohan speak.
Aishwarya Singh I don't think that I'm even qualified to even listen to him.
Aishwarya Singh lol you millennials
Jason Jones do you mean gen z ?
Prakhar Sengupta yeah sure
Aishwarya Singh So true! I mean it's such a privilege to listen to him
Yes Rohan, there is a temple like that as well. You just walk in, stay there for 10 days and you no longer want to smoke ;)
So the google search for 'Giant Robot serial on Doordarshan' just went up.
😂😂😂
the intial few mins are HILARIOUS but the lady is stone faced! great combo
Rohan = Oxford dictionary

all i could think of was Rogan Josh

@sharul Clearly you are unaware of how easily you are getting Top quality content from your Uncle .. Like how amazing it was just to hear bits of his " Tuesday " .. Killed it Sharul
I have heard about the spice thing here in hong kong as in if u stay in a shared flat u wont be able to cook indian food and thats why i stay alone but then even i hate the smell of some of their food and i would never consider that as a factor to deny someone the place to stay where they want. Extremely entertaining podcast you guys. Sharul never disappoints 😂
Sharul in thumnail: Jennifer Lopez
Sharul in real: Sonam Kapoor
This is my favorite episode so far.
I see rohan, I click.
Simran Kataria how hard would we click if Rohan had his own podcast?
With my index finger then

Sharul’s uncle is the benchmark for haryanvis.
48:25 The Best Haryanvi Story Ever! Fuck it, The Best Story Ever!
wow what a prediction on metoo movement!!Brilliant!!
Rohan Joshi makes me want to open a dictionary, Vocabulary is too damn good
Great podcast guys, listened to it twice just because it was so much to take in and also fun.
Just had a thought tho, when Sharul asks Daniel about his stand on people eating dogs, he talks about how he has alway looked at dogs as pet and chicken as food.
My question is when you now have learned the hypocritical stand why don't we change now.
Like the podcast with Aditi Mittal he talks about how he turned into a feminist after learning about the scene in the industry. Why not learn here too !
52:20 , holy shit ! they said it together , that was amusing !
And no , not many uncles like that in here in haryana.
Diet is decided by the biology & geography of the part of world anyone is living.
Finally some intelligent content on TH-cam.
Man I really learn stuff from your podcasts... Thanks Daniel
Rohan is the smartest among the four AIB....
That's a difficult call.
guys Hindi dubbed movies are still shitt last time I saw FAST & FURIOUS 7
The only podcast which has intro after 13 minutes!
Okay maybe I should just stop complaining about the length of this podcast by now.
Way to go Danny!! You’re doing a great job! Your special was a treat as well! Keep going 😘
Daniel, I love your podcasts. But I have a humble request. Please sit closer to the mic or fix it in the editing (if possible). The volume of all three speakers is unbalanced and I'm constantly button mashing on volume buttons.
Thanks!
Rohan Joshi should have gotten the Netflix special instead of Vir Das. Thoughtful, interesting and articulate.
rohan is so articulate 💯
Rohan start your own show.. Its awesome listening to you
Damn, this was best episode!❤😂
My back is paining by just watching rohan sit like that.
Who watched this episode now, where the last parting words by sharul was "India me Too would happen"
Their talk about MeToo cut to now when it happened and then died out already!
Rohan was amazing
That pad you’re talking about from Australia is Libra!! It has random “fun” facts in every single pad :))
Bro Mic level check kar lia karo....sound come properly only when rohan bend forward..... in any given time see the distance between her and mic and him and mic......it effect sound ji
all kept aside, the best time in the interview is the uncle story! Damn awesome stories mahn!!
i could go on a whole day listening to just stories of sharuls's uncle and not feel guilty of spending a whole day not being productive
Johnny soko....flying robot.....wowwwwwww, this video has to get a million views within the first minute of watching it
Daniel's ''wtf is happening'' face at 1:10:50 is epic...:D.
She sounded bored and/or stoned 😅
please get abhish Mathew.
Till now the most hilarious podcast from u started it

Another great podcast, awesome
my favorite podcast thus far. #Haryvanvi Hancock. hilarious.

maharshi jani wouldn't you argue that a big case they use for discriminating Muslims, is the fact that they eat meat too! It does go hand in hand.
But they restrict anyone and everyone who is not Gujarati...some are extremes to the extent of no onion and garlic as well
At 16:13, how did they not talk about Get Out there??
I am gonna watch her in Singapore!!!
I wanna see Varun Grover on this podcast.

Good work Daniel :) keep it up
is she from Singa-por? coudn't tell. jk great podcast.
I understand that India has its flaws and we need to fix them, but I feel like your show gives off the vibe of bashing on it. There are so many positives going on and I rarely see you discuss them. I would love it if you would do that!
she said "i'm from singapore, right?" for like zillion times
Even though Danial tried his best to turn the discussion into a liberal jargons, untimately Rohan seemed to be only one who made sense.
But I love the concept of the videos!!
everything from Channa was so cliched! Thank goodness for Rogan Josh.
I m a north Indian from L
