How in the hell does this awesome performance by one of the best songwriters alive today have only 19 likes and 757 views??! James McMurtry has the rare ability to transport me away from my (sometimes) mundane existence to places I've never been. I can see the Lights of Cheyenne and literally smell South Dakota! Love your work, JM!

Same reason the average person would rather watch reality TV instead of reading a good book. One is passive with no intellectual effort while the other requirers thought and consideration. JM writes for people who take the time to think and consider what they're hearing. A song writing gem if there ever was one.

Look at the number 1 song on the charts “WAP”. I would not want this amazing man in that company. It would be an insult to good music to lump it in with the crap that’s popular in this country.

I think JM is one of the best story song writer/singer that lives. It's a shame his music doesn't see play on the FM dial. We are considered lucky because we found him.

One of my best bike trips ever was to follow James from the Great Lakes back down to Texas. Every show was great and in the end I was in Texas and that is a whole other story! Thank you CBC for playing James' music that one perfect time way back when. And of course thanks James!

In the late 80s there was a station in St. Louis that played some James McMurtry around drive time. I was blown away and since then I don't think I have ever heard him on any radio. I don't remember the station's call letters or who the DJ was but thank goodness at least one station had some class.

"Too Long in the Wasteland" was on rock radio in Oregon in '89, and that was the last time I heard him in that medium.
