He's my favorite person in the history of forever. Such a rad person and a beautiful soul, so much conviction and drive but at the same time super philosophical and humble. Back in 97 we were skating some rundown place in San Diego, Mullen shows up, skates with us like he's not even famous, helps us out with some things and just leaves like it was almost dinner time and he had to be home before his mom got mad. I thought it was a once in a lifetime thing but it's just what he does, he lives to skate and I'm glad he does because he is living art. Also he smelled like caramel and that was pretty dope
that is what creativity is, inventors. not being told what to think, but even seeing someone else kickflip, all the trial and error thats required to make your own body do that. takes alot of creativity
I was lucky enough to meet him at a demo that I was skating in back in 1984 ...what an amazingly genuine person even at such a young age...as he was mine........and unknowingly at the time his creativity and acrobatical genius became the foundation and precursor to just about every skateboard move ever executed (at the time and currently) and neither did he.... that's the beauty of Mullen and his craft.
He is truly amazing and brilliant, he is one of the ones that make us look good, he is the guy I have always looked up to. He is basically the Gandhi of skateboarding, I am truly moved by his speech.
The way she sounds like he's asking a question as he speaking is so introspective this guy's depth in the modern era Beyond skateboarding is unparalleled
Rodney is an extremely intelligent man. I'm guessing he's never used drugs or never used drugs on a regular basis. His sober state is like our acid trip state, he sees things that others can only dream to see...
Rodney smoked a joint when he was around 9 before he got his own board, only to be able to skate his neighbors' at the time. He quit for not long after that.
Cor a Genious mastermind! i loved the idea of scaling the heights he said in the middle that im expressing and delving into something new more than the guy who went stuff. Last punchline thought of creativity so spot on!
I honestly never liked watching xgames ( but like its mainstream kinda , more parks acceptance) but like raw footage skate videos way more as its exactly what he is saying
It's funny when he says he sucks he is doing tricks the average skaters litterly dream about I seen videos of the day he said he sucked if that is sucking I want to suck just like him
Definition of the true bum, one can have all you want even all the money you'll ever need, able to go all over the world. That one can still be a bum. Did one really change so many lives? Bout the balance equil towards good and evil.? Made so many happi, while making so many more so angry.
Imagine if he used all his energy like he did with skateboarding, but with something that would really change the world? Like fighting hunger.. Or stopping wars.. Just easier to skateboard.
We could easily end all hunger and wars, but there is no money in doing that. This has nothing to do with a genius stopping it, but with a shift in consciousness in hundreds of millions of people. Rodney made living an art and he inspired lots of people.
"I'm not that creative" - Rodney Mullen.
Gotta love how modest this guy is.

Da Ladies Man
Omg really dude I imagined he smelt like caramel
Whenever i smell caramel now i am gonna think of Rodney Mullen
"They learn how to learn, that is what creativity is." Great quote and so very true.
He would have mastered anything. It just happens to be skateboarding.
Well im glad it wasnt anything else
The most modest man in the world.
Best part: teach him to do the trick and he learns the trick. Leave him alone and he learns how to learn.
+Michael Styles To think he could have never discovered Skateboarding man.. Wow.
Exactly why trick tips and skate coaches are complete and utter bullshit
Words words words words words
The man has a beautiful mind.

Such a genuine guy, wise words that come from the bottom of his heart...
Brilliant. I could listen to him for hours.
Who disliked this? This man is a living legend
Awesome, always modest, always humble....
He's the motherfucking Einstein/Edgar Allan Poe of skating. I could just sit and listen to him talk for ever.
Rodney shows us that in whatever we do, the truth can transcend the field we create in.
ugh.. I just want to be his friend. Rodney you live our movements.
Speaks Truth. I love Rodney Mullen
He's so deep. Such a philosophical look at skating.
Rodney's the man.
MEu eterno ídolo!
Rodney Mullen is a living legend just like the hawk man.
Also Mike V, Mark Gonz, Steve Caballero and so many more
Now this is a role model.
The way she sounds like he's asking a question as he speaking is so introspective this guy's depth in the modern era Beyond skateboarding is unparalleled
Yea, that is called an "upward inflection"...

I want Rodney Mullen to watch Andy Anderson
He has, at freestyle competitions
The st. John the Baptist of skating
A true impossible is scraped not popped.
I imagine Michaelangelo or Eistein seem similar to this.
I honestly never liked watching xgames ( but like its mainstream kinda , more parks acceptance) but like raw footage skate videos way more as its exactly what he is saying
He reminds me of Linguini off Ratatouille!
It's funny when he says he sucks he is doing tricks the average skaters litterly dream about I seen videos of the day he said he sucked if that is sucking I want to suck just like him
lol hes like the guy thats sits with the joint and talks and forgets to pass it.
Congratz on watching your first interview.
