You’ve heard enough Zappa and are by my account at least, a true fan. So, just let me say, We’re proud to have you in the club!! Welcome man!!! Long live FZ! ❤.
@@L33Reacts The Fowlers are a total musical family. There were a total of five musical Fowler brothers, along with their father, who founded the jazz program at the University of Utah. The family label is fossil records and Toms album Heartscapes includes some other Zappa alumni. Bruces album entropy is highly regarded as well, also replete with former Zappa bandmembers including Chester Thompson. Tom is noted for bass playing, but also plays a wicked electric violin. I know Tom, Bruce, and Walt, and they are all delightful, VERY distinctive characters. Not triplets, but like peas in a pod :)
I was 22 when this came out, loved it. Excellent Zappa & all the band. You would love "Camarillo Brillo " I am sure. Jean-Luc Ponty is another superb musician to follow up on. His tune "Renaissance" is so beautiful.
Ned from Spain saying thank you Lee. This album that has been in my collection for over 40 years and it never gets old. This was supposedly about Alice Cooper. Ricky did a lot of studio work singing on odd songs like 50/50 including the Banana Splits " Doin the Banana Split", the title song for a cheap Sci Fi flick called " Green Slime" and other novelty numbers. Everyone on this whole LP are playing like beasts but Ralph Humphrey is my MVP. Zombie Woof should be next !!!
L33, for a great taste of all three Fowler Brothers, listen to any side of the ROXY & Elsewhere album. Listen to an entire side though. The songs segue into each other and would sound shitty if cut off. Side two is my favorite: Village of the Sun, Echidna's Arf and Don't You Ever Wash That Thing?
My first and still favorite FZ album. Love the trio of solos and the "meta" song about a song approach. Thanks Lee! Oh and a Double Frank Friday would be very cool.
I'll just sing to you any-old way, Chances are 50/50, I just might have something to say-e-yahe There is a great ZAPPA Album no-one has done any reactions to yet. MAN FROM UTOPIA. The Title Track is a great song. Franks favorite tune is on that album called "The Radio is Broken" Also few Reggie tunes which Frank does very well.
@@Royale_with_Cheeze I own 20 FZ Vinyls and the balance in CD's. There are some strong differences between the two. I have the LP version of man from Utopia. Is the VCD version different? Best CD remaster I know was "1968's Only in it for the Money", and Frank remastered that one in 1984. Added some drum tracks the Record company lost.
@@alldayadventures5418 What is VCD? Funny you should mention Only In It... because that and Ruben & The Jets gets the most complaints from older fans. He "said" he had to replace the drums and bass because the tapes were eroding, and at another time, he said he wanted to punch up the drums and bass to attract a younger audience. After he passed, one of the engineers over there put out the original mix of Money to the delight of many, including myself. I have a rare two-fer CD of Man From Utopia and Drowning Witch and that CD has pretty much the exact vinyl mix, the only CD to have that, without any of the bonus stuff.
@@Royale_with_Cheeze Bonjour! I had forgotten VCD's completely until I saw this. They were called 'Video CD's', and they were Compact Discs with a very limited, very low quality video content. I only ever saw one of them. I believe they were/are quite rare. Compact Disc's never had the space for any real video content, and weren't made for it, either. I agree with you about the original vinyl versions. I have a few.
The trilogy of this lineup with some guests are this Overnight, Apostrophe and One Size Fits All. I was fortunate to see them live with this lineup twice. Not trying to dound like a braggart, but I also hot to see The Grand Wazoo and Petit Wazoo tours. All amazing shows! Obviously my favorite Zappa period was '71 - 75, though I really like his earlier stuff as well. (also my H.S. years) Curious to know whats your favorite period?
I can remember there was a time once upon a time when you reviewed one track from the classic Mothers O' Invention album We're Only In It For The Money. Any chance you will do further explorations in this direction?
@@L33Reacts It took me a while to realize how he's using the word 'misery.' It's a noun as if it's a thing like a brick or whatever. Not the normal usage.
Zappa was very much like the guy from Whiplash. lol. One example is... Flo and Eddie were in the 1988 tour band...for a heartbeat. Like... the first two weeks of rehearsal... then they quit. And they said that it was because Zappa was not being very nice to them. Who knows what really happened? One thing for sure... Flo and Eddie weren't in any 1988 shows.
A little love for Tom Fowler on bass!
Three great solo's in a row, George Duke keyboards, Jean-Luc Ponty violin and Frank guitar. Great song.
Legendary stuff! This line up is all killer no filler lol

"You've heard enough Zappa"? Really? You can never have heard enough Zappa!
Camarillo Brillo and Dirty Love need to be listened to.
"Like some tacky little pamphlet in yo' daddy's bottom drawer!"
re 10:00 - Ruth and Ian were married. And Bruce & Tom are brothers.
Married in 1969, Divorced in 1986.
Well then now that makes sense
Apparently there were 3 fowlers on one album. Now that’s crazy!

@@zappafanseeker1099 wow, I'm envious. How fortunate anyone would be to be close to all these talented people...
The fabulous and mad mad mad world of Zappa. Crazy lyrics, wild compositions and fantastic musicianship. Great LP.
Our local, great, independent radio station in Milwaukee (WMSE) does an annual, day long Zappa marathon on “Franksgiving” day.

that electric violin melts into the guitar solo.
Excellent Jean-Luc solo, and Frank of course." Fight for life" by Jean-Luc from "Upon the wings of music" is one of his best solos.
Camarillo Brillo
the best lAbum Cover ever.....lol....especially the frame...lol.
FRANK 🙏🏼 thanks for the videos dude!
My favorite FZ album. Well easily tied with Apostrophe 😊
George’s “keyboard” solo is played on Whitney Studios’ pipe organ!
Great pick.
Thanks, L33! Brings me back to Heidelberg, hash and getting ready to drive to Kathmandu!

Yeah Ralph was really the shining star here even though there are a ton of them on this track… ahh the curse of too much talent lol
Ian Underwood & Ruth Komanoff were a couple once, hence the name Underwood which sticked

I do.
I pretty much prefer the original vinyls to all the CD remixes of Zappa's music.
Great now I’m gonna be worried about if it’s the vinyl or cd versions now 😳😂

Double Frank Friday...
Look closely at the frame !
May as well just listen to the rest of the album , the rest is just as good !
Try zomby woof from that album, incredible song
Frank's music always sounds to me like organized confusion. lol But so good.
It’s organized chaos at points
But that is what makes it so special
"Conceptual Continuity" 😊
This is basically the ONLY violin solo by Jean Luc Ponty on a Zappa album.
saw and met Jean 2010 Zappanale.
the cover is Frank's roadie...Marty Perellis....I believe...
I don't know if you caught it in this song , but yes , it might sound strange to some , ZAPPA is in my top 5 of guitar gods !!

Love his guitar tone in this era.
His tone here took me a second to fall in love with but once I did, I was hooked
