Great tutorial and sound comparison. I have an early 90's era USA made Blues Deluxe that John Fromel made the mods on, as I would have killed myself doing the job. The stock sound was irritatingly bright and hard to control, the stock speaker did not help the cause either. The results were subtle and nuanced but very satifying to me. John also commented that if you are not a Fender purest then maybe replace the stock speaker with an Eminence Cannabis Rex, which I did. The result is my dream amp.

The man himself. Nice photo, I'll be in southern IL in April for the next one, I also just ordered this upgrade kit as well as the tube board upgrade for my bj. Funny little coincidences.

I knew Robert before he was famous. Thank you for the Guitar Friend error code!

Same amp, same mods, I now have a small amount of reverb bleeding through at the lowest setting, and a gentle squeal with boost ON and the preamp between 10-11. I shoud have stopped after the capacitor, bias and input jack mods.

Hi there, thanks for the video. Where did you attach the 270 picofarad? I can't seem to find where it goes. And also, did you solder the other small blue one at C5 (cream board)? Bests..

Seems like a lot of wasted effort and money for a really cheaply made, poorly designed amp that will break down. Plastic shaft pots are a good indicator of how bad it is made. Glad you found it something worth doing. If nothing else it's a good platform to learn on.
